Interesting to hear the history and the different versions of where it originated.
As for the photo , it looks extremely hot in them uniforms. -

He even tore us apart when he played against us when on loan at Doncaster. They won 5-2 at AG.
When was that ?

I remember one home game under Cotts (won 4-0) where I thought the full back that was supposedly marking him was going to cry.
He was beating him for skill time after time so he tried to get physical & put his shoulder into him & JET knocked him somewhere almost into North Somerset.
We had the best of him & even when we as a team were crap, he was outrageously good.
I forgot how good he was

I remember that when I first started going in the 80’s. Absolutely loved that one.
One of the first chants I ever remember apart from some very racist ones I can’t repeat!!

Ohhhfor the Club Shelts
(For the next head coach of choice)
'we've got to bide our time' - 'we can't compete with the parachute payments' - 'if we can sell players for £25m every year we're building that nest egg up to be able to compete in the longer term'
A club egg !!
Hard to be patient as a football fan as where always casting envious looks at what others are spending !!

In all seriousness Shelts to save you searching for the references , , it harps back to SLs interview in Guernsey after Scott was sold where he stated if we can sell a player for £25million each year (I know I know) it will build up a nice nest egg
Thanks for that . Nest egg for himself or the club ?!!!

Positive start to his season . Gets into good positions and has some quality and an eye for a goal . Pleased for him and his dad Colin who was a fair player in his day !!

Fair play to Uncle Steve and the money he’s put up , if I had that amount I’d seriously consider losing some of it at Ashton Gate . He hasn’t been a perfect owner , not really sure what is .
I think the club is in a better position than when he bought it . We’ve had some good times .
What’s all the talk about a nest egg , have I missed something?! -
Very early doors tbf . Can’t see a change.

Strong line up and he’s made changes . Hope those coming in can show why they are in and not on the bench . He got it right with Tanner , felt he’s been off it since the start, he will come again . Fancy us by the odd two !!

Shame he’s lost his job . Some great memories while at AG . Like him as a person until he starts to talk about football !!
Wish him well in the future and hope he gets back in the game when he’s ready .
Worse managers than him- 1

Thanks for sharing this . Amazing what they can do now . Doesn’t damage the pitch when they have concerts etc . Think they have similar at Lille . When do we think Uncle Steve might get on these pitches at the Gate ?!!
