This for me is what I'm really annoyed about. Forget about Liam and Nige for a second.
We have the likes of Tony Wilkins and his followers saying how fantastic it is that we've done as well as last season and could maybe slightly improve upon that (ignoring the fact the gap to the play offs is wider)
Absolutely none of us expected us to do the same as last season. Each and every one of us expected progression.
We all felt that the ship had been stabled and that we would push on this season.
We have not pushed on. I'd argue we've slightly regressed. So why do we have an element of our fan base celebrating matching last season?
This season we have under achieved with what we had available.
We have under achieved in a number of games this season without a doubt.
We havent progressed and i blame JL for that - totally derailed our season with a new manager.

Aldershot may have been giving players a go, that will actually be with them next season

He's in good form and hasnt been making mistakes - lets see if he can keep it up.
He needs competition though, thats for sure

I know Muslim supporters who watch City. They have not experienced any problems at all. Real progress has been made, as sadly I doubt that would have been the case in the 1980s or 90s.
I'm a son of muslim - started going in the 90's and had very few problems. Had more racism away from football.

In my opinion, Gary probably sacrificed his own career in order to give his son one, and as a father I can understand that although not condone it. Lansdown should have dealt with that for the benefit of all except of course LJ, but in hindsight now it's fairly obvious why he didn't.
This of course is absolute waffle.
We were top of the league. LJ playing every game.
His job was to take the ball of McCombe and get the play going.
Once LJ got injured we lost our way. We struggle to build attacks and we started losing games.
The crucial game at stoke springs to mind. Jamie McCombe, with no LJ to pass to. Lumping the ball aimlessly up the field constantly for goal kicks or throw ins.
If LJ doesn’t get injured, good chance we get promoted automatically- 2

Trundle wanted to be inspired by his manager not to go on a bender in Magaluf 4 days before the season began.
The largest pay contract of his career wasn't enough inspiration to be professional.
Although, I suppose to his credit, he seems to now accept his attitude was wrong.
I also think, on Gary Johnson's part - he was signing a player, who had never really been that proffessional and who didnt really fit the team he was coming into.

I know. A manager who had a ridiculous team and couldnt get out of league one

Absolutely right Kid - a one trick pony who suffered from ‘little man’s’ syndrome and his man management style eventually got him sacked.
A one trick pony, but is our best manager since dicks.
Not bad a bad trick i'd say!

I don’t buy that at all, but you’re entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
That Cotts side was the best I’ve seen and had SL not pulled the plug on deals for Maguire and Gray, I would not have been at all surprised if we’d have matched or bettered GJ’s achievement. We’ll never know, sadly.
I had some great times under GJ, not least Palace away in the play-off semi. But the club had outgrown him IMO and just like his boy, he allowed costs to spiral out of control.
How can it be the best side you’ve seen when the same team were woeful the first half of the next season? In the championship?

No doubt he did well, but most successful manager since Dicks?! How do you define that?
For me, I judge it on silverware and Cotts gets that accolade for winning a league title and a cup.
I could not disagree more.
League one we are a massive club. Championship is where we are tested.
21st in the champ is better than any finish in league one.
And we saw Cotts struggle in the championship.
Even when things were bad under GJ we were still usually top half of the table

My colleague came in to work this morning and told me he'd listened to this. He asked me about Ivan sproule so I'm guessing he got a mention somewhere.
Great era for City around this time.
He said he's one of the quickest players he's seen
And that he couldnt keep up

It was a epic couple of years. The club was buzzing

I think a major issue LJ has is that he's neither 1 thing or another. He wants to be the progressive forward thinking manager that measures grass, utilises drones & learns from other high performance industries. However the apple rarely falls far from the tree & he can't resist lobbing hand grenades into the dressing room when things go awry.
If you think what GJ achieved then it's really hard to be critical of him. Yes his approach has a ceiling but lest not forget he got Yeovil to the Championship - that's akin to getting Luton to the Prem.
I have no idea why, but it always felt to me that GJ falling out with Basso was the pivotal point after which he/we never recovered.
Totally agree!

I remember hearing the hat story around the time it happened and that summed up my opinion of GJ’s management style. It worked in the lower leagues, but he couldn’t manage the better players’ egos. His boy is cut from the same cloth. Both awful man managers.
hmmm.... our most successful manager since dicks... maybe it wasnt his strong point. But he's did better than every other city manager in my time.

If they sack Manning, JL HAS to take accountability too. He made a big (awful) decision to sack a good manager. JL literally derailed our season.

Of course he wants the best for our club...he's hardly going to want the opposite.
Wanting the best for our Club doesn't mean he's the right man for the role of Technical Director.
We have an owner, JL and Gavin Marshall. None of em know **** all about managing or coaching a football team...so they will have to take all their info from BT.
What experience does BT have at making the right decisions for the first team? Academy and loan progressions yes...but not the first team. He failed massively as a manager...and simply doesn't warrant his position to basically make and inform ( in his opinion ) what is best for our first team. He is the only one in that position to do so.
Add that he is hopeless when speaking to the media and public, as is JL...then it's a poor appointment.
Gavin Marshall as CFO is spread thinner by the year. He works on Bristol Sport, HPC, Woman's Rugby, Bristol Bears, both Academy's, Bristol City Holdings, Aston Gate Ltd and the Flyers...it's a crazy situation.
The owner, JL, BT and the poor CFO.
It really is a crazy situation...backed up with a coach learning on the job and a bunch of analysts out of Uni.
You may be right about not being the right man for the job - not going to argue that.
But my point was, direct the negativity to JL - he hired him after all.

I don't care if I get shot down, that's fine, but I am sick of the negativity towards Tinnion.
I love the guy. Pure and simple, he's a city legend and was in the team for my first four years as a fan and had a left peg I absolutely worshipped.
Anyway, I'm not here to talk about his football legacy, I think it's cruel and unfair the way he's treated on here, quite often as a figure of fun and with his intelligence and communication skills being mocked and belittled, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
He's not our enemy, he's our ambassador, he's a man who's gave most of his working career to our club, even though being a Geordie and having no previous affinity to the club.
We know he's not the best fit for the job he currently has, but he had the ambition to go for it, the same as his stint as a manager, he wasn't up to speed, but he had the ambition and drive to go for it. I respect and love that.
It's not his fault if he's not right for the job, it's up the people above him if they feel he should be replaced.
Personally, I want him in charge of the academy, that's his best fit and hopefully he will be back there sometime in the future - back within his comfort zone.
But in the meantime, he will definitely be giving everything to the club and deserves much more respect and our support.
You don't have to love Pearson and hate Brian, you can appreciate them both!
And even though I don't agree with Manning being our gaffer, I can see the reasons why he was recruited.
Yep i totally agree.
I think he's made mistakes - but when he says he wants the best for our club i believe him.
People should direct their anger at JL - buck stops with him. He's totally clueless. At least tins has done extremely well with the academy.
What has JL ever done? other that be deluded about the level of our current squad?
-
I do think Tinnion is getting too much flack and Jon Lansclown is getting off lightly.
Tinnions fronted up and yes, it was a terrible interview.
But the buck stops with Jon Lansclown and it was him who ultimately sacked NP.
I dont want Manning sacked - i dont want tinnion sacked - if we get involved in a relegation battle, JL should go. He's responsible for derailing our season
