Yes but there are some on here who are way more than angry at Pearson being binned, some are acting as if JL and BT have broken into their house, shit in their cornflakes and shagged their dogs. We essentially have many posters essentially posting the "I will boo" thread all over the shop.
We have apparently had the forum infiltrated by BS employees to spread propaganda (not saying BS employees haven't signed up, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility that people working for BS could be city fans) on a forum that is largely seen as a massive joke by the fans at large.
The decision was a ridiculous decision to sack him. And quite under-hand.
Pretty sure it was confirmed, by mods that several accounts were created using bristol sport emails.

Pearson is a solid coach, but not the type to take the club much higher than he achieved as of Cardiff his last match. There seems to be a massive fall out with the Lansdown's due to the muted' farewells' and the lack of appreciation with his time here. And this is Nigel's downfall with every club he has managed, appreciated ,but not actually 'loved' if you will.
I honestly believe we are in a better place to-day than we were a week ago, a young coach that wants to play attractive football, certainly the comments I hear from the wider footballing world is we have scored a blinder here with LM.
I don't work for BS I have however supported this club since the 60's in fact dare I say the 50's I first attended the Gate and probably not too senile to know a good exciting appointment when I see one.
No, he's never done it before has he? Oh duh... he has. He's got promotion before from this division.
We dropped to the bottom half, but your bosses knew full well, we had to winnable games coming up, so sacked him, knowing we'd likely be back in the top half.
Say hi to Jon Lansdown for me.

I note that fb over 90% of comments approve of LM.
Which begs the question what the **** is wrong with this place?
Think you are missing the point that over 90% were unhappy at the sacking of NP - Despite approving of the appointment of LM

Plenty of buzzwords just like LJ.
Already heard the word processes about a million times.
One buzz word. I watched it after you and was pleasantly surprised at the lack of buzz words and platitudes.
He definitely didnt use that word that much.
You have decided, that he's like LJ because you have made your mind up. I see little similarities.

Thank you for a considered and insightful post.
But please, let’s put to bed this ‘loyal club with managers’. We’ve been loyal once. Once ever. And that was to a family friend. Cotterill - no loyalty. Pearson - no loyalty.
The Lansdowns seem to have been afforded this ‘patient owners’ tag, it’s peddled by Sky because they allowed Johnson to lose a million in a row, twice. And with respect, its bollocks. Take nepotism out of the equation and They’re no more patient than any other owners in reality (barring maybe Watford).
I hope you’re right about Manning. Good luck for the season.
We've always given managers plenty of time. Pearson is the first one, we've sacked early. First time, hardly any fans were calling for the sack.

I disagree on giving him the time of his contract. There may be money available in January and the question hs to be if you are the owner
“do we want to give money to a man we are not sure is the right man past the summer of 2024?’
People say Pearson had the finances pulled - I don’t think he did. I just don’t think the bloke did enough to warrant a new contract past next summer, so it would be daft to have given him money in January and invest in his plan further when it was likely he would not be here
Pearson then used the press to force the issue in recent weeks. Has he not done that - I’m sure he would still be here
Time to move on
Er what?? He improved the squad every season, while slashing the wage budget. He was only here 2 and a half years.
We were looking down and come the end, we were looking up. Absolutely deserved to get a chance at the next phase of getting into the play-offs.

Poor appointment in my opinion, and we’ll do a lot worse now in the present and future.
Based on?

Just watched his press conference and he's nothing like Lee Johnson. Not in any way.
Poor comparison

As an Oxford fan, I hope he gets you relegated and he ends up sacked.
Manning has shown he’s got no loyalty. He was doing nothing prior to his appointment, the Oxford board took him on and backed him to the hilt in the close season, now he’s shown that a sniff at the Championship and he’s off, leaving Oxford in the shit. 13 games where he managed to keep us up, just, then got us to 2nd in League One in what is a poor division. If he’d left at the end of the season, fair enough, but to do it a third of the way through is galling.
Hope QPR beat you Saturday.
regards
You didnt get anything out of his employment? he saved you from going down and got you pushing for promotion...
You better go buy some tampons pal.

People saying its underwhelming??
Personally I'm relieved.
Relieved we didnt get a big name like Lampard who is living off his playing career.

Hoping and thinking he will do a good job for us... Has my full support.
If it goes wrong... Lansdown out.

Another good guy leaving the club.
All the best.

I have my suspicions. One in particular, who was called out, but made a joke out of it.
Definitely alot of PR and propaganda being deployed.

I'm still disappointed Nige is gone, but gone he is and some people on this forum seriously need to make peace with that fact as it ain't going to change now.
I'm even letting myself get a little excited for Manning. Seems like a decent appointment to me so let's judge him on what he does, not who he replaced.
It was a decision that didn’t need to be made.
I like the manning appointment - but i can’t forget the decision to sack Pearson and the ridiculous reason and the delusion to go with it.Manning has my full support, but if we struggle this season or next season, then that’s on the Lansdowns.

As others have said, all Bristol City fans will want Manning to be a great success. I have to say I have my doubts and I was very disappointed and frustrated when Pearson was dismissed. I will back Manning 100%, but I fear that the fans will turn quickly if we start to drop down the division as the wounds of letting Nigel go will take a long time to heal. For his and Lansdown's sake, I hope we get positive results and quickly.
Yep. I’m pretty much at the point of calling for the Lansdowns to go. If this does not go well, it’s down to them

When city fans say we've gone for the "cheap option" Such a dumb thing to say
There is no such thing!
A bad manager will cost a club millions in the long run

Eddie Howe a bit of an exceptional case isn't it.
For every Eddie Howe there a multitude of ones that have no success. We have had a number ourselves. Are we and when I say we, I mean the hierarchy just going to hope that one of these appointments works for once.
If so, is that is more hope than expectation.
Is he?
EVERY manager started somewhere!

Yes Oxford. A team that plays the Gas. It's a crap league.
If we aspire to be just a middling to small championship side then this is the type of appointment that we should have expected and accept.
It's got nothing to do with arrogance. If the hierarchy want City not to be an average team in the Championship then we need to stop acting like we are just an average club. It really is that simple.
You would have said the same when Eddie Howe was appointed as head coach at Bournemouth in League 2..
Personally i would be less optimistic if we appointed a bigger name - because if they were all that, they wouldnt end up here.
Give me a fairly unknown manager that has shown some ability, all day long

I'd have Lampard all day long over a guy that got sacked by MK.
Listening to this guy is just like listening to LJ all over again.
What has Lampard done thats impressive. I keep asking, but ive not got a proper answer other than a good start at chelsea.

A win record not in the Championship or any other comparable league.
We all know how savage the Championship is and that win record counts for F All.
A win record like his at any level is impressive. He may or may not be able to translate that to the championship, but it is a good sign
