Nige not going with the team to Coventry due to illness.

Curtis Fleming will take charge again.

I wonder whether the effects of his 2 bouts of Covid might still be affecting him.

He was wheezing badly in his pre match interview

We are a mess, players like Wells, Palmer, Kalas, DaSilva who are up there as our highest wage earners and not pulling their weight for their wages. Honestly apart from maybe Kalas I would happily see them all go. A waste of money.

We have players who are clearly past there best, Martin, Simpson and King.

Supplement them with promising but currently league 1 standard players such as Bakinson, Pring, Semenyo, Scott, Tanner, Atkinson.

Now add no creativity or dynamic forwards and wingers and you can see we badly need an injection of quality. Can't expect to release a dozen first players in the summer and it have no impact. Utterly wasted our wages on overpaid shite.

I think its a bit harsh on the defence, if your midfield is hapless then you can have the best midfielders in the world and your still getting beat.

It’s becoming clear that the strength in depth is pretty weak. And what with injury record to some of our players, was it the right call not to bring more in at the time?

I'm not sure it was necessarily our choice on that front, I think NP has said he likes to work with a smaller squad but we also had to cut the wages down to avoid financial meltdown.   I think if NP had a choice he would have kept the likes of Patterson but unfortunately I think the players who could move and keep their salary did, a lot of players got released but ultimately we are at the beginning of a long road.    I think Vyners days are numbered its hard to see where he can add value.

I think this is a fairly sensible starting line up, I'd swap Palmer with Benerous and Jenneh with whoever was looking least effective from Wells or Weimann.

Think i'd like to see something a bit like this for Barnsley, enough pace and creativity in a bit of a wide diamond formation so the two wide ish midfielders can tuck in when required.

I'm not quite done with Kasey yet, maybe a fixture like this could spark a bit of life into him.

I think I'd have Jennah and Benerous on the bench and aim to give them about 30 mins each if the games not going our way.

I’m really not sure whether this thread:

    a) reassures gays that they can talk about their sexuality openly, or

    b) dissuades gays from ‘coming out’ because they’ll know it’ll become the topic of conversation.

I’m from the viewpoint, that a person’s sexuality really doesn’t matter, and shouldn’t be a talking point. The fact this has become the subject of a thread is disappointing.

Exactly and its sad that in 2021 its brave.

Personally I rarely sit in my seat at away games, and that's purely because I usual go on my own and I like to locate myself in and amongst the "noisier" fans and have a sing song. On your own it's fairly easy to squeeze in next to like minded people and not have to worry too much.

I'm the opposite I tend to relocate my ass to a quieter bit of the stand.  The loud fans tend to locate themselves along the back in the roof of the stands as a general rule,  so I normally end up sitting near the front.  The only places I've had issues moving around are Reading and Cardiff most will let you move to a quieter bit of the ground.

It's only a crime if you get caught hey?

Normally if people are directing aggrovation at stewards they will just get ejected from the ground before it turns nasty and the police have to arrest people.  Most stewards are quite patient until it gets dangerous.

  9. You quite often get it, at the Posh game some lad was trollied and was asked by the stewards to sit near the front as he was battered.  But come our goal he ran up the steps to his mates and wrestling a couple of stewards and was promptly ejected. Same guy was letching all over the poor girl serving the teas under the stand.  Its sadly just part of the day out for some people.

I don’t know what media you are getting that from but they are apparently looking at some big options for the job - BUT, For a number of reasons a lot of them will not be interested.

If it were my call, not that I care, I would follow the Man City route and appointment someone who would progress things and potentially win some trophies before going for the top person possible.

Newcastle could do a lot worse than trying for Roberto Mancini.

It will take time and wise decisions but Newcastle will become one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The Saudi’s are sports washing, of that there is not a doubt and they will get away with it.

The Mirror quoted them, but I like the term sports washing.

So are you saying no other manager could do better than Bruce?

No, I think the managers that might wont bloody go there and they have enacted the change at quite a risky time for them, Bruce was liked by they players and he managed to improve position last season and this season to be fair he's been bloody unlucky.  But now you have a situation where the candidates they are looking at if the press is to be believed are not great the best of them is Martinez but I cant see him going and even he would be a gamble.

I mean even the Premier League have put a ban on the owners singing any kind of sponsorship deal I can see it all going tits up by Christmas.   Everyone seems to think because of the money its a forgone conclusion that they will go upwards.

One is pretty much finished and one is just starting out.

Well if you think Newcastle are bottom three at the moment, the last thing I would want is an unproven manager in charge and playing Championship football next season, and Uni Emery is hardly likely to want to give up his current job, and if you did his last premier league team Arsenal were dropping like stones as he got fired, then Martinez is the other name in the hat, I would have backed Bruce to keep them up and twisted in the off season.  My money is on them getting relegated this year with a bag of expensive January signings.

To Gerrard. People always jibe at Scotland being a 2 horse race but is Germany any different. Its Bayern Munich and a n other. Quite frankly though I couldn't give a damn who gets the Newcastle job.

No not by a long way are they even comparable.

    An insult to who?

The notion that Steve Gerard is anyway as good a coach as Steve Bruce when you look at their respective CV's if I were Steve Bruce I would be happy with a big check and watching things from outside with my feet up.  It think Newcastle will have a rude awakening.
