No one said it will be a Cat 2 academy in months.

It is going.to be prepared so the first team can train. The rest is all part of a longer term plan.

ignoring all the Bristol/Dwane Sport franchise shit a second, 29.acres dont buy themselves and the work that goes into it costs. Its a step forward and we all have to start somewhere. Ashton Gate wasnt built in a day etc. Everything happens over time (hopefully)

As you said 29 acres aint cheap. So maybe he is willing to put some money in after all.

The gurt teds are shitting themselves with this news....

Funny, because of the shambles, yes.

I hope it's not true though. They might get themselves someone with more than a 5 figure bank balance.

This did cross my mind however would you want to come up against another local billionaire?

Tbf they only took 28k odd to wembley so obviously not all that.

I wonder how long its gonna take for this rumour to be all over gas media, you know how much they love this forum.

I am told that the players are unhappy with the ownership and management at the club. I understand that as a group they are extremely unhappy at the handling of the recent "not being considered for future selection" debacle, the feeling being that this was an instruction from above to cut costs and that the public nature and timing of the announcement was staged.
I understand that the players relationship with the management team is not great and privately many question theirs and the clubs future direction.
Personally I believe Darrell is a good manager, potentially a very good manager but he has started to believe his own press and is in danger of losing some important parts of his dressing room.
He built this current team and has relied heavily on the team spirit and that unity/bond, if he loses the trust of his squad we could be in for a difficult remaining season and could undo much of what has been built over the past 2 years.

more bad news tomorrow club put up for sale that's why he not in the country.  His dad and brothers will break the news they want all money back and been trying to sale the club.

Aw bloody hell this can't be true surely because that would just be too god damn funny.

To be fair for our crowds to be 9,000 plus avg in the wreck thats called the Mem shows our potential for growth in a new stadium. In league one at the UWE our avg would be somewhere between 11k and 15k depending how we were doing. In the Championship in the UWE we could pull anywhere between 13k - 19k depending on where we were in the table, whom we were playing etc..

So if you were in championship then you would be getting the same us? Bullshit would you, when are you lot gonna wake up?!

    1) There wont be a UWE.

    2) You dont have as many supporters as us.

    3) Your owner/board does not have the financial backing which is apparently why we are a better than you.

Anyway.....I thought the rovers fans were against modern football?? Funny that.

Getting a few off the wage bill certainly won't do any harm. It also lets players know exactly where they stand, so they can be pro-active about finding another club now, rather that in July when hundreds of others players are looking for a new club.

How big is the squad exactly? It can be beneficial to get rid of some of the dead wood but didn't realise rovers could let so many go. Potential offers for Taylor and Bodin in this window?

On a sidenote cant believe how bad your away form is at the moment. My gas mates are refusing to go away now but hardly surprising, at least they can enjoy home comforts eh.

The horse-punchers are on the road again .....

"Anybody noticed s*** play forest away sat gas play Walsall away sat for anybody travelling by train from temple meads things could get interesting and both sets of supporters need to change at Birmingham pass the word the weatherspoons at temple meads could be fun in the morning the police don't realise for every time the Bristol teams play at home on the same day they also have to play away on the same day and that's where you could get problems FTG."

"Yep , all noted , all ready , and all of us mischievously looking forward too it"

The sad thing about people like these are that they are actually over the age 30 and cant throw a punch anyway. Know many gas heads like this

  8. Living in the bradley stoke area I can confirm that its not all rovers at all. When city and rovers were both on tv on the opening day of the season the pubs were half and half. I also went to a training session a couple of times and there was several city shirts to one rovers.

Not that this really means anything but south glos/north bristol area is definately not dominated by rovers. Another myth they would have everyone believe.

What an absolute garbage post but not surprising from a poster who has to insult people and using a pretty much weak insult to,

Think he just meant theres a lot of people on here who cant accept others opinnions. I can understand why people want LJ gone and why they want to keep him and.see how jan goes. Im on the fence at the moment but if we dont win soon i know which category i will fall under.

I was talking to one of the few today over dinner, he was convinced their future is bright because, they now have serious money behind them. By serious, he says "they own the bank of Jordan and a group of hotels". He claimed the club now owned 29 acres of land at Almondsbury for their training ground, that Higgs had agreed a poor package with UWE and, that's why it's been held up negotiating a new deal and, they only have to sell the rugby ground to help finance the new ground, as their new owners would finance the rest.

I tried my best to put him right on his new owners wealth. Informed him that they didn't own the land at Almondsbury (the rugby club academy does), that they'd put the application in because, they'd probably gain grants from the FA for the cost of some of the works. That his clubs wealthy new owner was trying but with not much success, to get finance elsewhere and, to not hold his breath for a new stadium, just yet. This is the person who, just over two years ago, informed me that the work on their new stadium was starting next month (September). He is like so many of their followers, blissfully unaware of their situation and, too frightened to ask questions for fear of finding out the reality.

Of course, I don't know the real situation but, I seem to know more than him. But then again, they are so insular that nobody is allowed to question the goings on at their club, for fear of being branded a gert shed and being banned from their forum. Still he's happy that they're going to catch us up soon.

Oh yes, he also claimed we'd not get more than twenty thousand in the championship.

Still baffles me when I read things like this. What a bunch of deluded bitter fools.
