Cheers LR. I watched & Man Utd & Leeds at the gate around that time and they only had half of the open end so if City brought 8000! they would have had the whole of the open end plus 3-4000 in the Dolman unless the poster sim exsgersting.
Just browsing the Man City forum as their not happy with a Friday night kick off as there aren't any trains back to Manchester and came across the following post where they reckon they played Bristol City on a Friday evening in the 70's and so say brought 8000. Any of you older fans remember that?
I remember going to Bristol City for a Friday night match in the 70s. Perhaps it was the novelty value then but it was one of the biggest away followings of City fans I have seen for a night match. Must have been 8000 plus and we were all over the stadium. Mind you in those days we had the football special trains to get back.
Working late so couldn't join in the fun. A bad night at the office we played well, took over 950 fans on a horrible night in London and were beaten by a more clinical team on the night, all with 11 playes on the pitch so no excuses!
Every ones a winner and yes why not cash in by renting your drive out if it's a possibility!
Fantastic draw for us and a little payback for the new owner who has has to pick up all the sh*t Power left us in and let's be honest we're probably going tombe given a football lesson on the pitch whatever team they put out but it's better to play a class team than just dream about them even if we do get hammered.
I thought it was a new ground where they tapped into a part of one of the stands when building. Also when the stadium was being constructed Spurs never had to move away for a couple of seasons which would have been the case if the original white hart lane was refurbished like Ashton Gate was.
