If debts piled up and Rovers had to call it a day, a new club may be formed and allowed to continue in their current division.

We'll be generous and not insist they start at the bottom and work their way up (like they did with us). However will we refer to  them as the 00ers?

In time, that'll doubtless be changed to "The Ooer misus".

All joking aside; it's been suggested that upto a dozen clubs could go bust with current income. As a oneoff, would the league allow "phoenix" clubs to continue where their previous incarnations had been?

If the sixth wealthiest club in the U.K. Can't pay their debts football is finished?

Miah an organisation that I'm a part of have been running a fund for Bristol care workers that aren't able to work. We don't have much to give, but if things are tight drop us an email careworkersnetworkbristol@gmail.com or message me. If not needed then even letting wife's colleagues know etc would be great!

Also goes for anyone else reading that works in health and social care and I struggling due to the current situation.

Great gesture and so nice there are decent people out there

I don't dislike Swindon. They made themselves look a bunch of arses a few seasons back and karma sorted that night out.

Hopefully another team to help send the gash down

Fair point you make and as previously stated many of us didn't over celebrate that win and were just happy to beat a local rival who a lot of us are envious of how your club is run and conducts itself and we're do our best to get the better of your rivals who's fortunes certainly look like their changing and a million miles apart from you guys?

Clubs have voted to end the season and decide positions on a points per game basis with no relegation and still to contest the playoffs, league one couldn't agree and will sit again on Monday. This topic is on the coronavirus thread as well I have just noticed so maybe look on that one.

    Thats what we're hearing here

Can anyone think of any other league grounds in the country where a slightly over hit pass results in needing to go and ask the local residents if they can have their ball back..?!

    There must be a few....?!

Not football league now but Aldershot had a net behind one goal to stop the ball leaving the ground

Could somebody please tell me the date when the Gas were last above us Cheers

I can't remember if you guys weee still in the old first division in 77 but I found this little gem when the Gas were in the old 2nd division but oddly I don't think there were any away fans there unless they were locked out!

It wasn't a jibe at you personally ST, more your support in general. No offence meant.

No offence taken as myself and many other decent  STFC supporters said the same afterwards but as we know all clubs have their idiots which often reflects on all supporters

I was there, yes you did!

I'm surprised your mob didn't present a bloody trophy.

Luckily the old bill kept our lot penned in behind your main stand as some were not at all happy!

I'm all for west country sides doing well apart from the obvious but I, for one, was behind PNE in the PO final, purely because of the Swindon reaction to that result.

    As for Toffolo, cheating bastard!

What was it Flinty said? 'That was the day we knew we would be Champions'?

I think you misunderstood me as I certainly wasn't one over celebrating and have said previously some of the actions of the players was bang out of order and thankfully they have moved on

Funny coincidence, both The Sags and Oxford eventually dropped out of the league. We have not played the Sags in a league Match since, how have Swindle done against Oxford in the league since the 2nd May 2001?

Awful would be the answer that's why we want promotion this season to start levelling things out!

So they are posting the grainy videos and saying “Happy 2nd May” like they always do annually. It’s all they have left...bless ‘em.

A couple of bubble bursting responses are “Yeah, Happy 2nd May....2001”

    and

”3rd of May tomorrow mind....The happiest day of our lives”

Wow what a fantastic looking league table!!

The 37 or 38,000 was for the early 70's. I believe the capacity was 31,990 in the First Division days.

I watched both Leeds & Man Utd at Ashton gate when you were in the top flight 76/77 and I think capacity for them was around 36000 but I may be wrong

Preston? I never thought they were like that, they`ve always seemed a decent enough bunch to me. Were there a lot of day trippers perhaps?

Having said that, do I vaguely remember there being some unpleasantness at your game up there towards the end of the season?

Apologies to Preston fans there were no problems against them in 2015 It was Millwall I was thinking of in 2010. There were no trains to London that week end though.

How the hell do they think they managed to take 44k to Wembley when the middle tier wasn’t open? I’ve only ever seen one ‘official’ figure for the number of Gasheads at the Shrewsbury Play Off Final, it was for ‘number of tickets sold’ and if iirc it was on the Rovers Official Website and was around 38,000.

Millenium Stadium’s capacity is 73,000 and there’s no way they had 40k there for that.

Everyone knows their ticket sales stalled around the 26/27k mark for what was effectively the most important game in their history against Grimsby.

Of course, us, Swindon and the Gas went to Wembley in 2015 and that gives me a good excuse to post this picture again.

In fairness to Swindon there were no trains running to London on that week end which put many fans off along with the reputation of the opponents they were up against who caused lots of trouble to innocent fans even though they won
