Calm down, sport, you could have said "I wasn't able to listen, I'm in Australia"

Missed the Aussie flag to indicate lack of initiative . The internet must be working so you have no excuses . You don’t even need a VPN for non live sport. But I’m  not doing your homework for you. It’s very easy to find and play . Even in Oz . So , zero excuses , and still hence my question.

Sorry chaps - have Covid and feel shit, but no excuse for being rude.

    Apologies

Did you listen to the actual comment ? There is no interest, it is not that we rejected an approach or asked too much. There is no hardball, there is no ball.

As to why he wants to go, you need to ask HNM that. No one seems to know apart from him and his agent (dad if true he is his agent)

    Being in Australia - no I didn't

    Hence my question.

Apologies if you were triggered by my geographical location impeding my listening to a local British broadcaster

Without needing to be critical of either keeper, I’d rather re-contract Bents, he’s my first choice.  Max is perfect for a no2 - low wages, can stand-in without fear, but imho he’s not as good as Bents, nor will he be…and Bents could be here for ages.

I’d rather start to look beyond the current 1-2, and if that means Max having a season on loan, so be it.  If someone like Peterborough then could be loan with obligation to buy.

As for the French lad….really tough to judge….but if there’s a by-product that Han stays then I think that’s an added bonus.

    FWIW here’s some video.

He came out for a cross - that makes him better than MOL already.

He can be a bit reckless, but that can be coached.

MOL to go - this lad to challenge to be #1

MOL has had his audition and been found wanting. Get a modest fee or simply let him go if a suitable deal can be found.

This lad is 21 and mixed with good players at international level, seems to like to command the box, and looks for the quick distribution.

    Seems a no-brainer to me

    Thanks @Davefevs for the clip.

  4. For the sake of Bury and the other clubs who were expelled - enough.

Derby have had so much leeway it's ridiculous.

I couldn't care less if CK was a patsy for MA - enough.

Liquidate Derby and treat them the same as they have Bury.

    This is a farce.

  5. IIRC Spurs got in and couldn't be shifted despite many attempts.

Can't think of any others that stayed half the game.

As for Leeds - they got picked off one by one going through the turnstiles when they failed to force open the metal gates.

I do wonder to this day who has the coppers helmet that did the rounds of the EE for the rest of the game!

I guess. Will be very interesting to find out what is actually up for grabs.

    The million dollar question.

It sure as hell won't be the old brownsite land that will be worth a fortune in new housing. Purchased for a 'new stadium'.

I still don't understand why so many people cannot separate the 'sport' from the 'real estate'

A loss on the sporting side will be dwarfed by profit on the housing / office side.

I'm sure some people still think he's building an indoor centre for Basketball only...........

apart from the seafront/pier area the rest of it is a shithole going the way of blackpool .........

    Rubbish

It's a vibrant University City now - loads of young 'uns have headed to the coast to study.

New shopping centres, heaps of new clubs, and loads to restoration / revamping going on.

I used to live in the New Forest - Bournemouth was never a dump.

    Vibrant and exciting City now

In Australia coke, alcohol and watching sport are all pretty popular past times. Doing all three at the same time is not uncommon either. Despite this, there’s never any trouble at sporting events - and this is largely cultural.

Sporting rivalries tend to be friendly and there’s an unwritten, but widely accepted, societal rule of: “Don’t be a d**khead”. If anyone is a d**khead, they’ll very quickly be told to pull their heads in by the vast majority of those around them.

It’s not perfect but it generally works.

    Eh?

AFL games have been full of reports on the news of crowd violence

The NRL has been rocked by recent all-ins in the crowd.

Every major racing carnival has resulted in mass brawls.

    You mustn't get out much!

    Last week in QLD...

  9. Coke is so cut here, that people are returning to designer speed instead.

$400 for 1g of highly cut coke VS $200 for 1g of designer very pure amphetamine mixed with MDMA or fentanyl.

    Seeing loads of it around.

And @WolfOfWestStreet is correct - these drugs increase alcohol tolerance.

The drugs on their own usually won't result in violence - but add 10 pints and it sure does.

    This still a thing?

I think there's something in this. It is, a, societal problem, not just a football one, although sadly it manifests itself in our beloved sport (not in rugby it seems) and clubs must take some responsibility for what takes place in the confines of their ground. I know there are initiatives in place to tackle the rise in cocaine use at football grounds, but it remains to be seen how effective this will be. I don't know if it pent up frustrations but in football and in society as a whole there appears to have been a rise in violent disorder since we came out of the pandemic lockdown.

Yup - even here in Melbourne, which is 99.9% safe to walk around in the CBD at all hours, as there are so many Police around, and people are usually chilled - the change has been noticeable.

I think being effectively 'locked-up' for nearly 2 years during COVID (see Melbournes lockdown history) has made people forget the 'social rules' and they are having to have them re-inforced.

AFL games are getting full of crowd punch-ons, and there seem to be more people 'looking for it' on the streets of Melbourne currently.

It is slowly easing down, but it's still very noticeable how much more rowdy the city currently is at times.

Hopefully it will get back to pre-covid norms, as Melbourne used to be one of the safest cities on earth (still is tbh)

  11. Just to reassure Pillred - my 26 year old son is gay, and to the best of my knowledge has never buggered anyone in the public change rooms when he goes swimming.

    Consensually or against their will.

I'm so proud of him, resisting all that beefcake and behaving appropriately.

I hope you feel safe enough to return to a public changing area.

If this post triggers you - my apologies for any medical assistance you may require.

Hang on - the phones ringing.......

It's 1974 and it's asking for you Pillred....
