  1. Boro ticket allocation just 2000, a little stingy perhaps given the size of the end.
  2. Sunderland much improved 2nd half, beating the Luton press, but whether 2-1 is enough remains to be seen. All to play for at Kenilworth Road. As the commentary said a bit of a contrast in setting from the Stadium of Light.
  3. Sunderland needed that because they were getting no where near Luton, who are a side greater than the sum of their parts. Luton are not sexy, are not pretty and have the most uncomfortable ugliest ground in the Championship (if not the EFL) but they play in their own style, have a clear game plan and are efficient. Over the two legs I expect them to come through the tie.
  4. As I live in Filton I could and should perhaps of gone but I'm averse to camping or glamping so decided not to pitch up to watch from a tent. I'll make a contribution instead.
  5. Southampton down with a whimper. Their retained list will be interesting and I shouldn't think Ward-Prowse will stay.
  6. Now that Aden Flint's been released by Stoke I wonder if he will finally pitch up at Derby. They have released 3 centre backs in Curtis Davies, Richard Stearman and James Chester.
  7. That's how youth stuff experience!
  8. The young Posh defender Ronnie Edwards (20), who has played with Alex Scott in the England U19 side, has been impressive. Peterborough have already turned down £8M for him so he will be PL bound.
  9. I've just realised that of the 12 managers involved in the play-offs I've seen 11 of them play live. Only Neil Wood at Salford stops it being a perfect dozen.
  10. We did buy the L1 title. Mark Little, Luke Ayling, Korey Smith, Luke Freeman, Kieran Agard were all the best or near best players at their previous clubs.
  11. Could be some interesting ins and outs at Wrexham this summer. Talk of bids for Mullin who might move on and if so his goals will have to be found from somewhere.
  12. I see the SAG's have agreed to take their first team to Melksham again for a pre-season friendly. Levels are similar.
  13. The best of luck to him. He certainly seems content with life in that part of the world.
  14. Great read.. My favourite but has to be Alex Scott, a 19-year-old kid so far and above the standard of this match that he didn’t even have to pad up and pull his socks up to play in it. City played into, off, through and around him with mesmeric, comfortable ease in something crunching between second and third gear. A beautiful footballer, so obviously destined for bigger and better things, I could have happily sat and watched him glide around all afternoon and, such was QPR’s pathetically impassive approach to dealing with him and his team mates, that’s essentially what I got to do. And this lot are only fourteenth. I certainly know which of these teams I’d be more excited about going to watch next season. Only one development club involved in this game. Streets ahead.
  15. Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davy, Dan'll Whiddon and Harry Hawke might just be enough to get them through the season, but only just.
  16. I see Matty Taylor has been released by Oxford. Wonder where he will go.
  17. Dreadful actions for which there is no excuse but if you are going to taunt Millwall fans with the West Ham anthem you have to be several sandwiches short of a picnic. Hope no one was hurt and the bricks didn't add to the numbers of holes in Blackburn, Lancashire.
  18. Writing an informed sequel to War and Peace.
  19. Now that the EFL season is over, bar those sides in the play offs, retained lists have started to appear with Barrow and Morecambe leading the way. Nothing of interest for City as yet but on a personal level I'll be interested to see which lower league team will offer Cole Stockton a contract. Still a useful lower level goalscorer.
  20. Using EFLfansbanter for the baseline figures (as accurate as I can find albeit with the occasional rounded attendance) then home attendance at the Gate this season without away fans saw a total of 433218 pass through the turnstiles for an average of 18836. This represents a rise of about 1,000 on last season (410765/17859). City's away attendance was also slightly up with 27705 travelling for an average of 1205 as compared to 27299/1187 last season.
  21. Going back further Bryan Drysdale, Alec Briggs and Mike Thresher were all more than decent left backs.
  22. A soft penalty for Forest. I'm not arguing that by the laws of the game it's a penalty, contact was made, but I always feel penalties of this nature are soft. Brennan Johnson does get his toe to the ball before Maitland-Niles but only barely and is coming from behind. He is at full stretch and in no way in control of the ball, and is not setting up an opportunity by passing to a teammate.
  23. Maybe but not necessarily. Burnley were the least fancied of last seasons relegated clubs but have proved to be magnificent champions, while fancied Norwich have been very disappointing. I expect a lot of squad changes, especially if as likely Southampton and Leicester get relegated. Can't see star players like James Ward-Prowse or James Maddison not getting offers to keep playing in the Premier League. Promoted clubs are harder to guage. Ipswich could be useful but I don't see Plymouth being a major player next year.
  24. Notts County v Chesterfield play off final. Both semis ended 3-2 after extra time.
  25. I have no actual evidence as to whether Boreham Wood are an obnoxious club or not (and as far as I can see none has been presented on this thread, just hearsay) but congratulations to Notts County (despite that I have personally witnessed some obnoxious behaviour by some of their fans in the past).
