  1. Heaven help me! But I'm nervous about early pronouncements when Aberdeen have 5 games still to play and circumstances can change.
  2. I'll believe when the contract is signed and he's pictured in a City shirt up on the roof.
  3. Now that City have announced that Bristol City Women will play all their WSL matches at Ashton Gate next season this summers re-lay of the pitch becomes more important. It's going to get a battering next season with the Bears, City and the Women playing on it.
  4. I agree that mic'd up refs would be good for the game. It should make players think twice about their behaviour when approaching the ref. Like you, however, I'm dubious they'll do it. A start would be to have the officials explain their decisions to camera after the game (and possibly at half time).
  5. I thought Ntcham was excellent at Swansea.
  6. I'm ambivalent. As long as they don't go down the Doncaster route and announce who the players are sponsored by each time they are subbed on or off. They even announce corners sponsored by every time they get one.
  7. A really positive award for a, lot of hard work. Interesting that Forest Green didn't make the shortlist
  8. Fully deserved. I'm so pleased his talents been officially recognised in this way, and so glad the the on loan Premier leaguer Diallo didn't win it.
  9. Poor old Lee.. Somebody always barks this out but their selective memory refuses to remember the 2 absolute sitters that Scotty missed in the game.
  10. Congratulations to Bristol City Women on promotion to the WSL. I couldn't get to the ground today so watched on FA Player. A fine performance. To beat a decent side like Charlton 4-0 is no mean feat. Superb robbing of the defender by Grace Clinton for the first. Abi Harrison corners really caused problems, scoring direct from one and then a pinpoint cross for Aspin to add the third. All wrapped up be a wonderful 20 yard strike from Ffion Morgan. Will obviously have to strengthen in the summer but that's for then and for now just delight in the promotion.
  11. Newcastle attack... Newcastle score.
  12. A huge blow for the Lionesses. Not only a class act at the back but has the ability to play in midfield too. Will this force bringing Steph Houghton back in the fold? I'm not qualified to talk about the links between serious injuries and the menstrual cycle but if likely teams international and domestic will need to stand players down during such times.
  13. The name of the stadium is not political, simply the Spanish name for the Falkland Islands. The city of Mendoza however is clearly political having been named after Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza y Manrique, 5th Marquis of Canete, a 16th century Governor of Chile and a Viceroy of Peru.
  14. I just want to see Forest come down as I'm fascinated by who they may have to sell or loan out for a manageable squad in the Championship.
  15. Gloucester and Hereford won't necessarily get a choice. It will depend on the teams to be promoted, particularly teams from the Midlands. Gloucester were only placed in the North originally due to a promise made to Worcester City to keep them in the South. Subsequently of course Worcester's financial plight saw them take voluntary relegation to a Midlands league but Gloucester have stayed put.
  16. As its the Dolman Stand that'll be open are we obliged to start filing out 10 minutes before the end, regardless of the scoreline.
  17. I've always wondered why everyone remembers the Lee Miller miss but not the two sitters that our wonderful Scotty totally fluffed in the same game. I suppose it must be like Colin's whining about the 'ghost goal' while conveniently forgetting about our 'second goal' incorrectly given offside. Selective memory I think it's called.
  18. Excellent win. Sunderland had opportunities but City could also have scored more.
  19. It is a poor game and the Blades have been distinctly average in this one so far. Take away their Man City loanees and it would be worse. Chris Basham is a big miss for them but hopefully Sheff Utd can find form anf smash in 3 or 4 in the 2nd half.
  20. Our fan base has often accused City of being a team that lacks education in the dark arts and doesn't have enough of a nasty streak. So who are the nasty players, past and present, that other teams fielded? In looking at this we are not talking Hard Men. That's been covered elsewhere and their misdemeanours are mostly overt, out in the open in plain sight. What we are talking here are those nasty players, the ankle tappers, the sly achilles rakers and the constant moaners who get up your nose. Johnny Giles was one such for me. While very skilful the Irish leprechaun had a nasty streak, an ankle tapper and achilles raker. On the moaning front Jason McAteer was a real pain in the butt..Steve Claridge was another I just wanted to slap. Who are yours?
  21. I feel Weimann will be here. I'm not sure he's regressed that much. He's just not had a consistent role in the side as he did last season but has been asked to fill a variety of positions. That has to have an affect on his performance. King and James will also be here for the reasons mentioned by others. I've yet to be convinced that Scott will depart and if he stays that bides us time to bed in players like Omar Taylor-Clark, and hopefully a returning Benarous, into the 1st team. DaSilva and Kalas will be dependant on them accepting new terms (if offered). Williams is an unknown. I expect Taylor Moore, Owura Edwards, Dylan Kadji, Duncan Idehen and Owers to depart. Sam Pearson and Will Buse might also go.
  22. Although I never saw him play Ernie 'Ginger' Peacock was the hardest player most of my uncles generation could remember. Having said that though I recall a programme back in the 70s or 80s where players were asked for the hardest man they ever faced. While Harris, Bremner, Hunter and Souness all got several mentions Mike Summerbee said Mike Thresher. In one of his first games as a young winger for Swindon he came across City's Thresher and said in the first 5 minutes he'd been put in the stand 3 times. In my day while the usual suspects, including Gerry Gow, have been mentioned I'd like to add Gordon 'Crunch' Low to the list.
  23. Melksham's results not been so great during the last fortnight but Joe Porton was Man of Match in their narrow 0-1 defeat to top of the table AFC Totton.
