  1. I'm disappointed about the collapse of the Hummel contract but it is, what it is and let's hope this supplier is more secure. I'm not mad keen on the design of the new shirt having never really liked the old Hireite one. However, I'm more interested in its quality and fit which I have to wait and see on. Hummel shirts were roomy and I hoping this will be the same.
  2. We could pray. Seriously let's not get drawn into the Johnson tactics (both father and son) of setting up to counter them but instead try to play our game. We are naturally a counter attack side with quick transition and shouldn't change that.
  3. In an earlier thread on the issue I understood that there were different supplier agreements with some clubs other than the one City had. Was this ever fully explored. I still believe we should seek a solution with Hummel, a company of proven quality, than look elsewhere again.
  4. For me we should be working hard with Hummel to resolve the supplier issues. A company who really works with clubs to create unique designs is one I really rate and I'd be dismayed to lose them.
  5. Pity you don't need a (sanity) license to be a Sports Minister.
  6. Yet another owner who thinks he can sack his way out of trouble. I'm sure Keith will soon pick up another job. He still needs 6 clubs for a full managerial bag.
  7. One of the greats from the days when televised football had commentators (Wolstenholme, Davies, Moore) who actually told you what was going on, and importantly knew when to keep quiet, instead of today's Opinionators (Jonathan Pearce aside) who prattle on about all and sundry except the game in progress. An encyclopaedic knowledge of football he was a joy to listen to. He was also a lovely man as I discovered when talking at length with him at an APFSCIL dinner. RIP Motty.
  8. No reason not to believe the Lionesses could win the WC but it will be interesting to see how they cope with being one of the favourites in an overseas environment without the partisan English support. I don't know what stadiums are being used down under (they have some very large ones) and whether they will be packed but they can expect the usual 'warm' impartial antipodean welcome especially if they have to play the Matildas further down the line.
  9. England Lionesses under Weigmann P W D L For Against GD 29 25 4 0 137 9 128
  10. Interesting that Omar Taylor-Clark is captaining the side and not Owers.
  11. We will have to agree to disagree. They haven't moved but built on and around the location which is still at White Hart Lane. Whereas I am happy to record the Emirates for example as a new ground I haven't been to and City haven't played at I don't see the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the same way. As far as I'm concerned City have played on the site and I've seen us win there.
  12. Spurs don't have a new stadium. Its a revamped expanded White Hart Lane where its still situated. They haven't moved.
  13. Pope not infallible! Sounds like dangerous ground to me.
  14. As pointed out on the night a Newcastle player (Linton?) was on 9 bookings and if he'd have picked up a card he would have received a 2 match ban for the PL but would have still been eligible for the cup final. It makes no sense. Better by far that suspensions are served in the competition that the cards were given.
  15. As someone who played for City it would be nice if Ebony Salmon got more of a run out at the Gate.
  16. He talked about it during one of the open days years ago but I haven't heard anything more in years. Personally it wouldn't matter to me as I would continue to call it Ashton Gate regardless, in the same way as I will continue to go the the Colston Hall (as the venue in which I saw my first rock concert) rather than the Bristol Beacon.
  17. I miss Burnden Park with its easy access and walk into town. It must be bad enough for Trotters fans to commute to a stadium out in the burbs marginally closer to arch rivals Wigan but this is not a great name change. .
  18. Sad news. I always liked the Peter Wyngard of sport presentation.
  19. 3 or more managers a season is fast becoming the norm.
  20. It seems that when you live in the hot desert the rain of Manchester and the coldness of Newcastle become very appealing.
  21. Probably won't for the first team but we could recall Callum Wood from Yate, he is left sided.
  22. A liitle turbulence can be fun particularly if travelling on a prop plane with airBaltic from Riga to Vilnius. A short but eventful flight.
  23. My first reaction last night is that McLean was the culprit rather than Tanner but he made a meal of the incident as his won't as a real wind up merchant.
