  1. Unless UEFA do something I cannot see the Commission handing down any stringent measures. Cynical perhaps but unlike Roman Abramovich and the Russian connections this affects the Abu Dhabi deputy PM a member of their Royal Family. Middle Eastern investment in the UK is huge and, while it will be officily denied, expect some subtle pressure to be applied to arrive at an acceptable (to them) result. The Arab League sticks together and a sleight on one is a slight on them all.
  2. The latest Reading pen was soft for a push on Shane long and typifies the penalties we don't get.
  3. I noted that when I checked. What intrigued was that since the competitions introduction in 2013/14 neither of the Manchester clubs or Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs have won it. Current holders are WBA.
  4. City 2 up after only 9 minutes. A penalty from Palmer-Houlden (yes honestly a penalty) and a goal from Pearson.
  5. 20/1 is miserly odds by the bookies but I suppose its better than no chance, which is what we have of making the play offs. Top 10 I might buy but the play offs? We'd have to leapfrog 11 teams just to finish 6th and not all those 11 teams are going to have a poor run for the next 17 games. I'm usually a half full rather than a half empty man but thus one is beyond my optimism.
  6. This says it all for me. Not a pretty game to watch but we were efficient in front of goal and defended well, especially the set pieces. We had a little luck most notably the wonderful headed clearance out for our throw by the Preston attacker sat the back stick when it looked easier to score. Apart from the ludicrous decision to award Liam Delap a free kick when he was trying to take the shirt off of Atkinson's back for 20 yards I thought the ref had a decent 1st half. He totally lost it in the 2nd period though as Preston ramped up the antics they're famous for. While it would seem Wells was fortunate only to see yellow for his retaliation it is unbelievable that the cowardly vicious rake down Nakhi's achilles by Cunningham went unpunished. We owed them this one.
  7. Good. I feel much more comfortable being on the left wing than coming from the right.
  8. Really! I knew there was a reason I don't tune in.
  9. It may or may not be the case but why is Simon Jordan getting involved. He walked away from football years ago but still seems to get either wheeled out or volunteers to comment. I don't see City's ex Chair Simon Davidson chirping up on matters that don't involve him.
  10. Probably need us or Blackpool to fulfil some contractual commitment of showing each Championship team x times per season.
  11. Up to 10% for our appearance in the FA Cup final.
  12. I don't know enough about this particular case to declare against Greenwood but it seems to me that dropping of charges doesn't necessarily mean he's done nothing wrong, only that legal opinion is that its not longer worth the time and cost of pursuing a case where a conviction cannot be guaranteed.
  13. Nkounkou must be asking why nobody likes him. From one club in free fall to another. St. Etienne are in a dreadful state in Ligue 2 at present.
  14. I was there in 2011 and in 1982 when we won 3-1, the booziest game I ever went to. Drinking on the train from London (I was in the London Branch at the time) to Preston, a pre-match pub crawl of 6 pubs each from a different brewery, drinking on the terraces, a few beers in the Preston supporters club, a carry out from the off-licence on Preston Station for the trip back to London and taxi to Hoxton, finalised by an after hours session in the Macbeth. Some day out.
  15. There are always going to be people who will moan after all this is a Bristol forum a City where the glass is always half empty rather than half full.
  16. I know I'm in the minority in my opinion of Mahrez but I believe too much hyperbole surrounds many players these days of which he is one example. I always get the impression that Mahrez plays for Mahrez. As a wide midfielder give me Bernardo Silva every time as he, like the aforementioned De Bruyne plays for Manchester City.
  17. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. Perhaps more importantly is how long they give us to secure our seat to prevent the system crashing due to a mad scramble for tickets.
  18. I hope he turns out to be better than Mahrez as I've never been a fan of that show pony, even if he does have a good game now and then.
  19. Fleetwood have also bought Mariott from Peterborough which makes a new interesting forward pair for them.
  20. The Atyeo holds what, 4300? So we could give them 4000.
  21. Or we'll win it with a last minute penalty. The only one we'll get all season.
  22. Christ! Do they have 50 players on loan from Chelsea.
