  1. I hate the Guernsey Grealish moniker. He's Alex Scott not some copy of a Midlands to**er.
  2. Predictive text is a swine but I don't suppose Klose will accept the money offered either.
  3. I don't think it's naive. I truly believe that if and when he departs it'll be for football reasons, perhaps advancing his international prospects, rather than the pound note. Refreshingly, not everyone is motivated by money. I know I wasn't which is why I spent my working life in the public and not the private sector.
  4. There seems to be a growing assumption on here that we will lose Scott in the summer. While that is a possibility I don't see it as a given. His contract situation is such that we don't have to sell and he seems to be a level headed young man. I don't think he's the type to be easily swayed by agent talk and playing regularly would appear more important to him than pound notes.
  5. I just feel sad about the whole scenario and wonder why and when it turned sour as he, and his family seemed happy in Bristol. I think there's a real player in HNM but, for whatever reason, we never got the best out of him. Always thought we should have played him further forward but it wasn't to be.
  6. Good to see. Just goes to show how highlights can be misleading.
  7. I agree that Scott is level headed and I'm sure he sees his pathway to the top clearly in front of him but I'd be wary of comparisons with the great Gerry Gow just yet. I've little doubt he will be able to make the step up to the top level but he's yet to prove that, something that Gerry did in spades. Gow was much more than a hard working enforcer, and his 50 goals in a City shirt are but one measure of that. Scotland's failure to cap him multiple times was a travesty. I hope to see young Alex in a City shirt for a while yet and will readily chart his rise to surpass the achievements of the City legend when he does depart but let's not get carried away, he still has a long way to go.
  8. Did anyone notice Low for Walsall against Leicester on the BBC highlights last night. They showed one good block but otherwise he seemed to be struggling with the movement of the Leicester forwards. They were only brief highlights though so his overall performance could well have been better than shown.
  9. Why? It's the biggest pain in the ass ground to get to in London.
  10. Fine by me. Two grounds I haven't seen City win at. Kenilworth Road is the only current Championship club left and I've only been to Blundell Park once and we lost 1-0.
  11. As I said in another earlier thread I'd keep Bell and let Semenyo go. To be fair to Antoine he showed good professionalism and a return to form before his departure but I maintain my brief that young Bell is a more natural finisher.
  12. I quite like Cornick, he certainly seems to play well against us, but as he's fundamentally a winger he's likely to be inconsistent. His form this season looks a bit of a mystery. According to the Luton website he's played 738 minutes spread over 19 games. However, of the 19 games only 7 were starts and he got subbed off in 6. The problem is these are only bare statistics. Has he only made 7 starts because he's out of favour, out of form or doesn't fit the tactical plan? Has he been subbed off because he was playing poorly, because the manager changed formation, or because he'd run himself into the ground? I think I'll just trust NP and his staff.
  13. If he's not I'm ready to sit on a bench, although I prefer the view higher up in the stands. Chris Martin perhaps.
  14. Interesting appointment. Don't see Big Dunc as a vegan. Probably had his haggis, tatties and neaps last night.
  15. I once had a go at school but otherwise no. The point is I understand how difficult the job is and it's not my intention to belittle those that do it, but there appears to be a general consensus now among football supporters and even among retired referees that the standards of refereeing in the UK is at an all time low. I don't think the job had been made any easier by constant fiddling with the laws of the game, including the introduction of VAR, and interference by the football authorities, but rightly or wrongly I feel today's officials lack the backbone or moral fibre to stand up to the beauracracy or even to have the courage of their own convictions. Too often these days games seem to be managed remotely when the matchday officials should be the sole arbiters and allowed to apply the laws of the game without outside interference. However, how often do you see a referee stand by his decision instead of wimping out and changing tack often incorrectly. The likes of Clive Thomas, Roger Fitzpatrick etc would never have stood for it.
  16. A perfect example of the OP point of a player who didn't have the ability to match his peers. Came as a full back and ended up in midfield where despite his efforts was too often found wanting. No doubt about his ability to get up and down but often by necessity as he lacked spacial awareness and continuously lost the man he was supposed to be marking as they ran off him with ease. Of recent hard working players Massengo fits the mould but like Elliot not always to great effect. Elliott was useful in the air though so did chip in with the odd goal.
  17. I'm happy when I'm Haikin (hiking) by Ian Whitcombe would be better. Don't know the song, check it out on You Tube.
  18. Perhaps by then Palmer-Houlden will be ready to score that one too.
  19. Including the Championship and Premier League. I know they've sponsored in Scotland but isn't it about time Specsavers sponsored refs and linos in England.
  20. They do but Semenyo as a replacement would mean some change in style as Antoine doesn't have the skill set of Trossard.
  21. Interesting comments from Nige about people drawing conclusions about the right way to do business. It's already been mentioned that Bournemouth's approach might be to deliberately unsettle the player and goad him into making a transfer request. But that may not get them the result they want. Would be interesting if Semenyo did just that but chose to go elsewhere.
