Premier League gambling shirt advertising ban
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to ChippenhamRed's topic in Football Chat
The PL blurb says its a collective agreement to begin at the start of the 2025/26 season. Any chance of players names and numbers on the front and advertising on the back? Not sure how many clubs would be affected if extended to the Championship. We'd be OK but it would give Stoke an interesting dilemma with the Coates family owning Bet365. -
Can we stop singing the one about…
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to Hartleysbeard's topic in Football Chat
I totally agree with the OP. I utterly refuse to join in any discriminatory chants and find them an embarrassment. We do appear to have stopped singing 'She's got chl....' Now if we can stop the utterly stupid new version of the tractor song, even if it is true about those that sing it. -
I wouldn't be sure. They are much more willing to make non-refundable miscellaneous payments to assist with the decision making. There are many political reasons to keep the Turkish delighted.
-
Looking at the criteria the minimum requirement seems to be 30,000 seats. AG doesn't have that. Could be moot anyway as we lose out to the Turks.

Watford to change manager? (yet again)
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to AberRed's topic in Football Chat
I do wonder what the process of choosing managers is. Do they just put around 500 names in a large hat and then get some child to be blindfolded and pick one. -
International Friendly: Lionesses v Matildas
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to shahanshahan's topic in Football Chat
Lionesses not on it tonight and beaten fair and square. Only a friendly but work to be done if we hope to lift the World Cup. Australia successfully stopped Walsh from influencing the game (as did Brazil the other day) and England have to find a way of coping with that as it is likely to be a common game plan used by the top sides against us. -

2-0 to the Matildas who are looking comfortable. Looking like the Lionesses first loss under Wiegman will be tonight. -
I see Jamie Knight-Lebel is up against Ash Phillips (Blackburn) and Emre Tezgel (Stoke). Both Phillips (6 games) and Tezgel (3 games) have made their 1st team debuts. Whether that gives them an edge I don't know as I'm not sure if the criteria is just football ability or whether it includes academic achievement where Knight-Lebel is on course to excel.

As I said elsewhere if Scott doesn't win I hope he loses to Hackney rather than the Man Utd loanee who was bloody useless at Rangers.

The biggest gap between L1 & Champ ever?
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to Unan's topic in Football Chat
Barry Bannan is widely regarded as the best player in L1 (and by some distance) and should win. I can understand Johnson Clarke-Harris being on the list for his goals but Aaron Collins? How does he get in above Conor Chaplin to name just one. -
Have to admit I sort of hope they do. My brother-in-law is from and supports Ipswich and he's a good bloke.

International Friendly: Lionesses v Matildas

I imagine Chelsea's Sam Kerr will play for the Matildas tonight (she sat on the Bench against Scotland). Pity it's at such a small ground. -
If he has to go (and I still hope he doesn't) I too would like to see him at Dortmund. Good club with passionate supporters and big crowds and a team that plays football that should suit his style. He would be superb to play as a replacement or alongside Bellingham. Don't know that he's on their radar though.

I'd like to think so but they'd probably bounce straight back helped by 4 cheapo cheapo loan players from Chelsea.

I see that Josh Brownhill has at least 2 pairs of boots. Green first half, Orange second.

And Blackburn and Preston show how you can get in and, around the play offs with a minus goal difference. -

That nutter McBurnie always reminds me of the strange Vernon L Pinkney, Donald Sutherland's character in the Dirty Dozen. -

Decent game of football that. Disappointing not to get home after leading 2-0 but Boro are a good side. Boro will probably be happier having come back but at the same time both sides will be disappointed not to have forced a winner. Bell was a real nuisance for them and was justifiably named the Sky MoM but Cornick is improving into this team and nice to see him off the mark after Nahki unselfishly gave him a tap in. Good to see Naismith get some minutes. -
How does that work out I wonder.. If you believe Wikipedia she is a Chief Inspector in the German police and lived in Langenhagen, whilst he's rejoined South Yorkshire police and lives in Rotherham.

Managers you are glad we have never had at City

Is 24/25 Season Realistically Possible?
RoystonFoote'snephew replied to Tomo's topic in Football Chat
After 40 matches the table doesn't lie and we are where we deserve to be. Yes we can point to bad luck and poor decisions by players and officials but so no doubt can every other team in the league. As the old saying goes 'if Ifs and Ands were Pots and Pans there'd be no need for Tinkers'. With regard to next season it will as ever hinge on our summer recruitment (whether we sell Scott or not) and staying free from injury. With set up we have now I'm hopeful for improvement but hope is all I can offer. There are no guarantees
