  1. All this talk of lawsuits is a nonsense, with the sole exception of if a club was to go to the wall. Any other football related lawsuits are unlikely to get an early hearing, if heard at all, when there are many more pressing cases that are in need of court time, especially when that time might also be reduced due to the impact of the virus. The English courts have never shown interest in involving themselves in football, the running of which is pretty autonomous in this country. They have no interest in promotion or relegation issues and will expect the football authorities to sort themselves out. I for one would be horrified that precious court time should be used on such nonsense.

  2. A lot of difficult decisions ahead that whatever the outcome is going to upset somebody. Health must be the overriding factor but economics will clearly play a part. A lot of clubs will have factored in revenues from the remaining games in their season budget, which will only be partly offset by savings on stewarding, police etc. If the league is declared finished I wonder what the position on compensation claims will be.

Less than a Rovers home gate. Globally.

The vast majority of whom are over 80 so would die within the next decade or so anyway.

If we didn't have the communication technology we have now this would simply be a nasty flu season and there'd be a few mutterings of "some nasty bug going around".

Nature presents a helping hand to an overpopulated and artificially aged world and we refuse it and allow it to drive an emotionally charged panic. Madness.

As one of (no doubt) many on here who have a parent in their 80s I take exception to your cavalier attitude to their demise. Why not just advocate euphanasia and be done with it.

  4. I don't wish to play the threat of corona virus down, especially as someone who is over 60, has type 2 and only one kidney puts me in the at risk group, but we are miles off the government prediction of one fith of the workforce off work. As of yesterday the UK had 116 cases and one death from 18000 tested. The UK working population, including about 4M self employed in around 30M, a fifth of which is 6M. By all means take the threat seriously but let's not panic yet.

The FA and the EFL need to look into this as a matter of urgency.

There should be an independent audit of clubs accounts at the end of every season. If the audit raises concerns / queries then the owner(s) should have to explain and prove how the club will run for the next season.

There should be a removal of undisclosed fees, payments. Payments to third parties should be more transparent. Basically every penny a club receives should be recorded and disclosed where it has gone.

It will remove the option of clubs selling the ground for an inflated price as well.

This should take place for ALL professional football clubs.

Hopefully it will remove the dark arts of the finances of the game. Slightly concerning to hear ‘Big’ Sam on talksport other day talking about club finances

It would also be ideal if the greed of the premier league was removed, whilst I appreciate for many it is the ambition, personally I couldn’t care less if we never reached the overhyped, egotistical premier league.

Forget the FA and EFL, as I've said before get the NAO in. The state of football finances needs an independent review. When it comes to football finance and business due diligence I wouldn't trust the FA and EFL to run a bath.

Good old club, Bury. Hope they hold on.

Happy memories of a 1-1 draw there in 1989...our promotion season.

One of the friendliest clubs I ever visited. Its the 2-2 draw for me, when a certain Paddy Kenney in the Bury goal made stunning save after stunning save. With South Park popular at the time I still remember the plaintive plea 'FFS somebody kill Kenney'

Just reading about the 6 year old who has just finished his chemo in his fight against a brain tumour. Brum fans applauding the Robin's fans for their superb reaction to him walking round the pitch. Someone suggested making him a guest of honour on the return leg which is on Friday 7th Feb.. Great idea.  Still remembering young Lowery, Defoes friend who left us not to long ago. COYRs.

Super idea, let's make it happen. I loved the tweet from Kevin Taylor 'football connects us, colours divide us, Bobby inspires us'

How can the FA/EFL not also face punishment for lack of due diligence when the Andersons took over?

We have long suspected the EFL and FA was incompetent (if not corrupt) in the area of due diligence (and indeed VAR) but who are they going to get punished by. FIFA/UEFA don't interfere in domestic football, and if the government intervened FIFA would throw a hissy fit.

One quick view on Sheffield Wednesday too.

I remember saying something about or like this a few weeks ago- but it's probably hope over experience etc. IF a club has not submitted accounts to the EFL for the season just gone by the deadlines i.e. end of March but especially by the end of season just gone, that should be embargo for summer window. No ifs, no buts no lifting as soon as received- embargo summer 2019 if no accounts submitted by end of season. Just IMO anyway. Soft embargo all of the subsequent summer bare minimum.

A soft embargo to me is not enough. In my opinion, any accounts not submitted to the EFL by the due date should result in an automatic immediate 3 point deduction, to be additional to any subsequent deductions if the club is found to be in breach of FFP.

Just interested. It's great watching them on tv but getting home after a night match away is worth a medal! The tv pictures didn't show that corner of the ground. I applaud all those that made it up there to support the team.

It was not an easy return last night. Every time we go away from home for a night game one or more sections of motorway are closed due to men not working. Got home from Manchester round about 02:40 and about 01:15 last night.

  11. Some criticism of Mags is fair. He is at this moment I think the weakest link of the back 4 that started last night. He is the least assured on the ball in one touch passing situations and looks susceptible when needing to turn against the long ball over the top. He likes to let the ball drop and there is always some concern as to how he will deal with the situation and what connection he’s going to make with the ball. That said, he continues to improve and for every little mistake he may have made last night, you could point to many more instances where his positioning and defensive qualities stood out. If Baker is out for out length of time, he now has the chance to show the qualities we bought him for, and the faith that LJ clearly has in him.

  12. A superb pulsating game, with no quarter asked or given, and both teams going all out for the win. We rode our luck at times, but we looked dangerous every time we came forward and deserved our point for our bravery. Every player put in a real shift tonight; but I would like to pick out Josh Brownhill who improves with every game, and Bobby Reid, where does he get that energy guy from?
