Best performance of the season for me. This was a much more high intensity game than Reading, against a big physical side that we needed to stand up against. NP got it spot on with the team selection. Throughout we were faster to the ball than Cardiff and caused them some real problems running through the middle. In what was a tremendous team performance it seems churlish to pick anybody out but I thought Massengo, Pring and the front two of Martin and Weimann (with his two goals) were immense. Pring had the beating of his fullback while in the first half Han-Noah constantly hurried Curtis Nelson into errors. Not the biggest against the Cardiff giants Martin and Weimman used all their experience and nous to get the better of Flint and Morrison. James and King controlled the tempo, the back 4 were solid and Bentley did what was required. His own goal (against the run of play) was most unfortunate. A really good cameo from Semenyo, who replaced King, culminating in a superb assist for Weimann's classy second. Ref was decent I thought allowing proper challenges in a feisty derby. Great atmosphere and I look forward to tonight's highlights on Quest.

Bad defeat for promotion certainties. Source: Joeys letter to the Memorial few. (book left out of the NT)

So you expect an independent journalist to be a mouthpiece for the manager? The club has its own media team if you want a nice sanitised version approved by the manager.
Journalists write both factual and opinion pieces and the distinction between them is clear. Or do you think political journalists should not write opinion columns but only print what politicians tell them?
I don't have a problem with a journalist writing an opinion but I do have a problem with being unprofessional. His scoring of NP, which does not appear to be the policy of the papervhe represents as its not applied to Barton at the SAGS, is, to use an Americanism, Busch League. There is a proud tradition of expert sports journalism in this country, even sometimes in the past at the Post, but GMcG falls miles short of such standards.

Expect him to continue his feud until NP plays the system or players Gregor wants.

Gutted. By and large we controlled the game, looked quite assured at the back and should have won easily. but while we played some delightful football we didn't get enough balls into the box and didn't test their shaky keeper anything like enough. Nevertheless a great improvement on the back end of last season. All the new boys played well, I particularly liked Atkinson's positioning and young Alex Scott put in a really good shift. We definitely lost something when he and Palmer went off. Understood the Scott substitution as he looked knackered at but Palmer's withdrawal seemed unnecessary to me.
Disappointed to drop 2 points but we go again.

Or simply that we can't accommodate everyone in the 18.
Exactly that I think. The number you can have on the bench has reverted to pre Covid so no room.

We have no players so fielded mainly youth and a couple of trialist. Also a couple of pros refuse to train as they haven't been paid
Presumably that's what they fielded at Melksham Town too which I understand ended in a 0-0 draw. Forest Green fielded two separate team for each half against Melksham and won 6-0.

I used to enjoy a drink or two with Andy Partridge before Covid, up at our local Spanish Tapas bar here in Old town - he was a regular in there - as I was too!
Other musical artists from Swindon include Gilbert O'Sullivan and Justin Hayward (Moody Blues). I think I read somewhere that Supertramp also have a Swindon connection, but I may be wrong....
- Nick Hewer (Countdown) is from here.
- The Lord Chancellor is our local MP (not proud of that one!)
- The Supermarine Spitfire was built here
- The NHS - Swindon was the birthplace of that rather critical service
- Mondex - sadly way ahead of it's time - but today we pay for almost everything electronically.
- The UK Space Agency HQ is hereYes, but apart from all that what did the Romans ever do for us...............?
Aneurin Bevan launched the NHS from Park Hospital, Manchester.

Only 2 decent things have come from Swindon:
¶ Justin Hayward (Moody Blues)
¶ Arkell's BBB

3 tramps (Harry, Bill and Joe) have been given a large slab cake to share by a kindly old lady. Harry looks up at Joe and says 'you don't like the ends do you Joe?' 'No', says Joe. Picking up a knife Harry cuts the cake in two saying 'Me and Bill do'

So Bristol Bears do have something in common with City, the ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Could be that Barton doesn't want to work with a DOF but more likely a move to save on the wage bill. May be the way a few clubs go in the Covid hit times.

An amazing young boy, only matched by the amazing health care. We await the day when the rest of this horrific tumour is gone and Bobby can sing his heart out at St Andrews. Heartfelt prayers to Bobby and family.

Why on early would they try and make out this is an impressive number?
Continued potting of tin.
Pretty sure you get more people queuing outside Primark on a Saturday morning.
Reignite the Gas? Are they lighting their own farts now.

The cynic in me believes that more than one of the big 12 are in serious trouble with FFP under current rules and has lobbied hard for a relaxation, and as UEFA are all about keeping them sweet to the detriment of all other clubs, they have caved.

We need to get more players in the box more regularly to earn penalties but we certainly have a history of not being nasty enough and gamesmanship is not part of our general make-up. Most seasons will see us close to the top of any fair play league.

2 would have been my guess but whatever it was I imagine it was at least a quarter or a fifth that Preston average.

If Holden loses tonight could be another manager in Bristol leaving
Why? The situations are entirely different. The Gas are praying they can find someone who can keep them in L1. We are not in any danger of relegation. We are just arguing about style.
Getting rid of Holden now would just be nuts. No new manager is going to get us in the top 2 or could guarantee us the play-offs, which realistically we won't win anyway. Neither are they going to magic up a left back. If we rid ourselves of Holden do we show Simpson and Downing the door too? Would they stay under a new manager. By all means review at the end of the season but to change now would be crass stupidity.
