I'm not sure about the atmosphere. On the TV it came across as incredibly poor. Worse than Wembley.

It's a catch-22, the game, especially the first half was pretty poor so the crowd were subdued, there is an expectation that the crowd should play their part, but the players need to give them something to get excited about in the first place it's a hard one to call.

The first half was like watching paint dry……. Typical Southgate, no flair or enthusiasm.

I appreciate that it was a pre tournament warm up and an opportunity to look at various different players but none of them looked as if they were up for it.

That said - It was the players that geed themselves up and once the penalty went in the game was pretty much over. I’m bowling Friday so thankfully I’ll miss another turgid England performance.

Well, that's guaranteed a scintillating game, thanks Robbored.

Perhaps considering there is a general election coming up and Liam Fox has been the North Somerset MP for 32 years(!), why the Tory governments, of which he has been a member, you could ask why this didn’t get this sorted far earlier. And yes a rail link would be useful as it would be far quicker than the bus, plus link to the rest of the rail network via Temple Meads. And there are certainly people who will use a train that won’t use a bus.

I couldn't agree more it's ridiculous how long this has been dragging on, and as for being quicker yes it might be but unless you work in Temple Meads it would not be as most people that might use it would then have to walk quite a distance to their job whereas the bus does tend to stop at more convenient places.

Indeed, and I doubt there is anybody who wouldn't have moist eyes watching this short link.

I dont mind admitting that I shed a few tears tonight, just remember when you think things are tough they are nothing compared to what this poor man and his family have had to go through these past 5 years, God bless you Rob and RIP.

I THINK you are referring to Parson Street,MOST local train stations don't have many passengers after 09:00am till 4pm ish Monday to Friday

If you think of all the new train stations there are in Bristol area

Shirehampton park and ride Ashley down nearing completion along with Filton Abbey wood,Cam and Dursley as well as Yate

Some one thought it was a good idea to re-open them.

But they are North of the river in well-populated areas, we are talking about Portishead and Pill here, can you tell me if there will be a demand in the future? the working environment has changed most people in this area have office jobs and the world has moved on, it's £2 on the bus now, do you not think if the railway starts they will be able to compete with that? plus the bus stops at convenient places in the centre of town. Capital letters are not required I'm well aware of the argument for and against and am neither deaf nor stupid.

  6. I have seen zero activity here in Pill, not one person working on the line anywhere. I have stated before I don't think this line will ever reopen, it might once have been a good idea but the world has changed, working from home Zoom etc has meant the demand from now on just won't be there, plus the cost has spiralled, it would be a great tourist attraction on the weekends but empty most days after 9 am a white Elephant in the making, I mean where does it go? Bedminster and Temple Meads are not very good for the average commuter.

The only thing preventing us winning something is the defence.
Stones is possibly one of the most overrated players ever. Sure, he can pass a ball, but he’s not actually THAT good a defender.
Maguire is a better defender than Stones and he’s not all that.
Those are supposedly our best centre backs! It’s pretty poor.
Add the fact we have no left back to speak of and it’s the defence that is the huge let down at present.
Midfield and forwards aplenty. Just really weak at the back

We're England we gonna score one more than you, Hopefully.

I'm already checking the odds for Plymouth to be relegated next season................just wondering how many in the last 20 years or so...........   Ex England footballers have made a success of club management?  Lampard and Gerrard are 2 who spring to mind..........but neither have even vaguely succeeded,  then i am     struggling to think of any?

Eddie Howe played twice for the England under-21s does that count ?

Nope cos I dont agree that 15 out of 25 is most. 20+ would be most.

You going to apologise to the numerous posters that you constantly call thick?

Even 13 out of 25 could conceivably be considered the most as it's more than half.

What’s the saying… if you want to know the future look at the past?

Nothing we’ve done in either our long-term history or recent history suggests we’re a better club to be at than Norwich.

I still say there is no difference in the POTENTIAL of both clubs, that was my point, not what we have done up to now, personally, I think we are potentially a better bet whether we ever do live up to that is down to how we are run and who they choose to lead us.

    No.

Unlike (for example) some pubs there is no facility at said retail park to enter your number plate anywhere. It works on 90 minutes restriction for all vehicles, and is managed by ANPR. The theory is that if you’re spending more than 90 minutes at the Food Warehouse and B&M Bargains you’re more than a bit weird, so means spaces are always available for all shoppers.

Harsh ( but true ).

On 27 March 2024 we parked our car at South Bristol Retail Park, Winterstoke Road, Ashton Gate and had food at KFC and made a purchase in Iceland. No one in KFC or Iceland informed us that we need to enter the car details to park in the parking.

Today we received a parking charge note for £60 for parking at South Bristol Retail Park, Winterstoke Road, Ashton Gate. This totally unfair.

The last time I was down there it was a maximum stay of 90 minutes that seemed quite reasonable, I have no idea if it has now been reduced to 60, common sense would tell you surely somewhere so close to a stadium would have some kind of restriction to stop it being overrun with matchday parking.

Spurs are such an odd club. Massive fan base, massive revenues, great stadium. Yet they settle for always being second best. Their current squad is a great example of that. On their day sure they can beat anyone. But they aren't ever challenging for silverware. Can't help but feel like the Potch years and the Leicester season in particular was a missed opportunity. I really think that if they play their cards right they could be title contenders medium term but they always full short.

West Ham also comes to mind, they have all the ingredients crowds stadium etc but rarely have they reached their potential when they moved stadiums I thought that would be the start of something for them but up to now a bit disappointed with them, let's see if this new man can do something.

So pissed off that Forest somehow stayed up......by default, rather than their own efforts.   I can see them coming down next season...and will definitely   be having  a bet on it.

They were docked points yet still stayed up, I would say that was by their own efforts, wouldn't you?

Liam Rosenior sacked by Hull after missing out on Championship play-offs

Liam Rosenior has been sacked by Hull City, talkSPORT understands.

It comes just days after the end of the Championship season where Hull missed out on the play-offs.

Rosenior was nominated for Championship manager of the season

They finished the season in seventh place and lost on the final day to Plymouth.

Hull were three points behind sixth place Norwich, who were also beaten on the final day of the campaign.

The 39-year-old was nominated for Championship manager of the season and has been in charge since November 2022.

Following the loss to Plymouth, Rosenior said: “It’s a really disappointing day. It says a lot about the league that every single team that was battling against relegation won. It’s a tough league.

“Plymouth gave so much energy into their performance – they ran, they chased, they tackled.

“We didn’t come onto a good game in the first 20 minutes. Maybe we played the occasion a little bit rather than the game.

“There are tears in the dressing room from a few of the lads. Among the disappointment and the pain, I couldn’t be prouder, not just of them but every single person connected with the football club.

“From where we’ve come from last season and what we’ve built, there’s a real bedrock, a real foundation for us to go on and achieve in the long term for this football club.”

Well he didn't show us much loyalty so what goes around comes around, a bit harsh though still.

Buying a season ticket to support your club (not Lansdown's or Manning’s) doesn’t mean you agree with the manager or the ‘board’. It just means you support your team regardless of the goons in charge, and always will long after they are gone (hopefully sooner rather than later).  Not sure why so many people don’t get that and use STs as a defence mechanism for what these clowns are doing.

Loyalty is admirable but sometimes if you don't like what's being served up on the pitch or the way the club is being run you have to make a stand, after 37 years with a season ticket last season I did not renew, that does not mean I have no interest at all I still attend a fair few matches but blindly buying a season ticket for me makes no sense, I realise some people will criticise me for my opinion but that's what it is.

We’re not all being “fooled”, it’s our club.

I was here before Tinnion, here before Lansdown & as long as I’m on the planet & well enough to attend, will be here after them, too.

Doesn’t mean I don’t find Tinnion an embarrassment or Lansdown & son poor owners beyond infrastructure.

I know of no other medium where people would buy something just because they feel some sort of loyalty, if a film is universally panned by the critics it usually flops a restaurant that serves up substandard fare pretty soon goes bust yet people continue to pay good money for a season ticket just because they always have? sounds a bit daft when put like that doesn't it?

Disappointing tho it was it was a one off result and the first time in ages that City have conceded 4. Essentially in was a dead rubber with neither club having anything to play for.

Fwiw - as with every season I’m optimistic that we’ll have a decent campaign. LM will have a full preseason with the contracted players and any additions signed this summer to implement his methods and there’ll be no ‘time on the grass’ excuses come august.

This excuse that it was a dead rubber just does not add up, if that was the case why did Stoke put 4 and could have been a lot more past us, it was a so-called dead rubber for them too wasn't it?
