i wished i had in ljs cup run season. i went to all of the games prior to the man u game then couldnt get tickets to the big ones

That's the chance you take, I used to be a season ticket holder for 35 years until my wife had health problems but I still get a membership as I can usually make some of the games plus as you found out there are suddenly a lot more "supporters" when we get a glamour tie, plus if ever we were to suddenly look like getting promoted having a membership would mean a good chance of being able to secure a season ticket for the following season, it's almost worth buying one for that reason alone. I for one wouldn't want to miss out as I have been waiting 44 years and counting for us to return, it's frightening when I say it like that.

If I don’t renew season ticket and will then look to buy tickets on better games (or when I can make it) - would it make sense to become a member to get priority when on general release, and if so how much is it?

If you are going to go for more than 5 games then membership is worth it as you save £5 a game and it's £25, plus you get 5% off purchases in the bar and outlets.

I can’t actually remember what I paid last season but a 10% increase is pretty much what I’d anticipated and seems reasonable from a business perspective. I imagine other Championship clubs have similar price rises.

What's reasonable about an increase that is more than double the current (if you believe that inflation rate)? it's attitudes like yours which embolden companies to think they can get away with it, well if the number of people that didn't bother turning up for the Swansea game is anything to go by then they are in for a bit of a shock, personally with what has mostly been served up the last two seasons they have got a bl**dy cheek 10% my ar8e.

Fortunately for them they have us at the weekend to bounce back .

we are playing at WBA on Saturday, and Birmingham are at home to Watford.

I like to look at goal difference to roughly estimate where a team is heading in terms of position in the table. City's goal difference is -2, which makes them around mid-table.  To me, this means we'll be ok, barring a complete collapse in defense.

Defence, unless you are from North America of course.

More cohesive? Players have been arguing with each other on the pitch in recent games.

By cohesive I mean in the pattern of play I thought for long periods against Ipswich we played well as a team and looked to have a good gameplan, the same against Southampton that is the most frustrating thing such good bits followed by dross, and as for the arguing I have seen Man City players arguing with each other it happens a lot, maybe it shows the players are as disappointed as us and actually care.

If people are told the truth, it helps but..... the rationale for sacking Pearson is just a tissue of LIES.

People who deliberately lie, lose respect.

When those same lies actually make us worse, you end up where we currently are.

Now, JL and BT can not expect any, or little respect.

They also seem not to be able to do anything about it nor indeed put out any comms (another lie which they said would improve).

They are in a hole of their own making.

It was a bit of an unnecessary mess wasn't it, there does seem to be a common denominator in all this and I'm not sure if just changing the manager will ever improve it, I just wish there was less negativity towards Mannings's appointment as he hasn't exactly had a lot of luck as far as injuries and recruitment have gone, I also agree we were not told the real reason Pearson was sacked personally I think it was a combination of poor results, his overall health, and of course him calling a Spade a Spade.

Pearson took 9 points from 14 games during his initial short term contact, yet he was rewarded for that with a 3 year deal. I thought that a daft move at the time, and I still do. He then delivered 2.5 years of largely uninspiring football and mediocre results.

However, he was operating under restricted circumstances and there was, as he saw it, a lot of work to be done to get the club into a shape where it could succeed. I don't know if that means any manager would have to do that work in order to succeed, or if it was work that Pearson created. Nevertheless, he was getting on with it and making slow but steady progress. He had a number of runs of poor form, and also a few periods of personal ill health, but the club stuck by him and let him continue his work.

Then, suddenly, out of nowhere, the club hierarchy decided they didn't like the direction of travel that the club had been on for nearly 3 years and decided to impose a complete stylistic change, under a relatively inexperienced coach. Not only that, but they declared the squad, which was largely built for and by Pearson, and of mid table quality at best, to be capable of finishing in the top 6, something that was self-evidently not true, and did nothing but heap pressure on their new manager.

Personally, I like Manning, and I like the performances I've seen (I only see televised games and the odd away fixture, so I've been lucky in what I've witnessed). I think he's the right man to take the club forward. However, it's pretty obvious that the manner in which decisions have been made has made things about as difficult as possible to achieve success.

I don't hate the Lansdowns, or Brian Tinnion, and both have done plenty of good work, but the decisions taken over the management have been quite ridiculous. It was obvious at every stage what they were going to get from Nigel Pearson. He didn't even deliver particularly good results, and his style of play was well known. If they wanted that style of play, then fine, let him do the job. If they wanted him to steady the ship and build a platform, then fine, sack him in the summer of 2023, or let him run out his contract, then make a change. If they wanted a different style of play or better results, don't appoint the guy with 2 wins in 14 games, who doesn't play how you want to play, in the first place. Whatever the individual merits of Manning and Pearson may be, not one of those decisions really makes any sense.

I have said on another post-NP did not get particularly good results, now how much of that was down to reducing the wage bill getting rid of the dead wood etc I don't know. I have come in for some stick for even daring to point that out, he was working under some constraints but the way he is mourned on here anyone would think we had been successful and entertaining under his management, well I must have missed that part, as you have pointed out Manning seems to be on a hiding to nothing what frustrates me most is good results and performances followed by disappointment. I personally can see some improvement overall the team look more cohesive but again we have the curse of Bristol City with injuries which have impacted our progress, all this harking back to the "good old days" under Pearson is getting us nowhere.

Ipswich didn’t nick it in extra time, they came back twice and did the job during the 90 minutes.

I know that, but we were winning with 15 to go and up till then I thought the game was evenly matched, we ultimately only actually lost it in the last few minutes of normal time. A draw would have been a fairer result based on the game I watched, which is a result few expected as a thrashing was mentioned in a fair few posts.

It was a "much improved" performance from absolutely shite baseline.

And even then we still lost and got battered last 20 minutes once Ipswich turned up

The last 20 is pushing it, 10 I will give you.

Okay, beaten in the end by a side who were better than us, but fair play, we gave it a real go. Along with most others, I’ve been really disappointed after the last three games but tonight felt different.

Finally, well done to our fans who made the journey, horrible place to get to and it takes flipping ages.

Better than us? we were beaten in the end yes, but watching the game it was only right at the end where we lost it had Wells's shot gone in to make it 2-0 or Mehmet's wonder strike went in who knows how the game would have turned out, any neutral watching last night for 80 minutes would not have known who were the better side, am I delusional? maybe, to my mind we just seemed to run out of inspiration, had we held on for a few more minutes I think maybe your opinion might have been different.

In a way manning is stuck in a vortex atm.

Play half decent = he's unlikely to get credit because most of that comes from an idea implemented pre him. No matter what he does there he isn't getting credit

All the worst stuff, such as winning it in midfield but declining the option to counter multiple times, literally turning back to give it to a defender behind their attackers. Inviting their attackers to press then giving it away. All in the name of fake control, that's on him!!

Is that fair? Probably not, but it's still a reality he's going to find difficult to overcome.

    ..........

Truthfully, those loses happen, can't win every game. It was a half decent performance. At times, we got the city we know is in there, but it's nothing to do with his footprint, or his ideological style.

Ipswich basically showed us how it's done.

    all options on the table!
short, long, ground, air, to feet, in behind. They had all options at all times. And as soon as burns came on they simply added that weapon.

It was a relentless pursuit of goals. both games v us; they had always felt there to be had, but that is because they are really going for it

I don't think they've been that good in this game ,but it is that purpose that drove them to win the game.

    .....

Tonight showed we play our best when a team believes their best beats ours. According, swansea is probably huge. It's on him to show he's evolved and learning.

Is that fair? Probably not but that's the reality he is facing! Patience is going to be thin; he simply has to read the room and know patient fake control football is going to turn the crowd very quickly.

Which takes me back to the top of my post, in a way he can't win.

In more ways than one, unfortunately on a hiding to nothing and all the other cliches you can think of, frustrating because Wells scores and Mehmeti's shot goes in and who knows what could have happened, but some things never change, as usual it's not us equalising twice after being behind and getting a late winner, how much of that was Manning's fault who knows, we were a couple of minutes away from getting a result that would have lifted all our spirits but somehow most of us knew that somehow that wasn't the way it would turn out.

This is nothing to do with Manning tonight, sorry. You can say that about the last 2 results, but this one’s on the players. Gutless and weak.

Did we watch the same game? yes we gave the game away a bit at the end, but lack of desire or effort could not be directed at the players, we matched them for most of the game in the end it came down to us lacking the confidence to see the game out. I'm disappointed yet frustrated at how close we came to actually getting a result that very few on here gave us a chance of getting.
