  1. My daughter and me don’t have a season ticket and go when we can and make a day of it . Bus into town then walk round the harbour or a boat across, a drink in the cottage, maybe the park for a while and meet friends for a few more drinks before the game. Covid stopped me Saturday so the Mrs took our girl and her mate and they enjoyed it despite the result! as my City supporting mate says, “ don’t let the football ruin a good day out “!
  2. Yep , my daughter has got the home shirt and when we bought the third shirt we had to buy a different size to get the same fit . Agree some are labelled wrongly.
  3. Is Banksy a city fan ? Or have I got that wrong?
  4. I didn’t see one header (intentional) in my girls u10s in a whole season!
  5. I’m 51 and the street I grew up in had more city than gas, but maybe that was an exception.I think a lot of kids like me who’s families didn’t have a connection with either team naturally gravitated to City being as they were in the old first division back then.I reckon when I was in secondary school my year was about 50/50 city/gas. As you say in the ‘wood’ we are definitely taking over these days and hopefully that will continue!
  6. We live in kingswood,I’ve always done since birth! It was never as big a rovers area as was made out to be even years ago when I was a kid.My daughter has sports week this week where they can wear in any sporty clothes and from what she’s saying there are a good few more city shirts than gas. She’s been flying the flag with the home and third kit.A few kids say they are gas but have never been to a game and we are taking one to the Sunderland game, maybe she can be turned?!
  7. Grandads- neither were interested in football Dad- City, wasn’t interested in football until I started liking city aged 6. He’s lost interest and hasn’t been for 10 years plus though I hope to get him to a game with me and my daughter for old times sake! He still looks out for the results though. mum- not interested in football local - Wick fc, I played there for 16 years and try to watch a few games each season. Me - City, watched a lot from age of 6 , then in the old 1st div, until early 20s then only very occasionally. Since being a dad I’ve gone more often in recent years. young un- City, took her to her first game aged 5 , 10 now. she loves it and nags for a season ticket but too many other interests etc means it’s not really viable for us at the moment.Try to go to at least half a dozen games a season.
  8. I think that was game that was on the last Friday of work before Xmas , surprised it was scheduled for that day given many would be out on alldayers after finishing work early! I watched it in the rotunda in kingswood with some mates , about 3 or four of us city fans and a couple of gas. The rest in there were about 60 gas. We were a bit naive really thinking everything would be fine! After one of the goals and of course not being able to keep quiet, someone hit my mate (who happened to be one of the gas heads ) over the head with a pool cue. I didn’t think we were going to get put of there alive but were rescued by the bouncers. to add insult to injury the lady who put my gas mates stitches in happened to be Brian Tinnions cousin.
  9. It took me a while but I’ve now worked out the famous bit, she’s married to Kermit the frog.
  10. A couple of years ago I was working on a house refurb at Lacock and someone told me the chap who came to mow the lawn every Thursday was an ex city player. Anyway Thursday came and looking out of the window I thought I don’t recognise him as a city player. A bit later he came in and said I hear you’re a city fan, it turned out to be Andy Tillson! Had a bit of a laugh with him about him still being the gas’s most expensive signing. He wore Southampton training tops most weeks and threatened to wear a gas shirt one week but I did warn him there might be an “accident” with a tin of paint! We worked there for a few months and he was always interested to chat about city, rovers and local football. One of the nicest blokes I’ve met.
  11. Just a small point , but how would they own a ground in lyde green?
  12. And 50p a pint fridays at spirals in yate !
  13. Brilliant, there’s nothing like taking your young un to a game for the first time. It’s quite emotional,I took my girl to her first game aged around 5 and it took me back to my first game with my old man in 77 aged 6. I’ve tried to get the miserable old bugger out for a game with us but he won’t have any of it! glad you had a great day, experiencing the highs and lows but ending on a high !
  14. Unless building houses in Bradley Stoke then more like 10 to 1
  15. That or he’s going to finger someone to death
  16. Did they say to the kid on the right “ we haven’t got enough weapons, just hold your hands out and we’ll photoshop one in later”!
  17. I’ve been to very few away games but the one nil win at anfield was the most memorable, brilliant night. Two derby games at eastville stick in my memory, the first me and my old man were in the away end and we all got pelted with stones, one hitting me in the head. Can’t remember it doing much damage! The next time we played at eastville the old man decided it would be safer to stand with a young un quietly in the tote end instead! I remember thinking this doesn’t seem like a great plan. Before the game started a big crowd of city fans surged in chanting and obviously a big scrap went on which we just about managed to keep out of the way of. Anyone know which year this would have been?
  18. I see over on their forum there is another thread where someone is surprised at the amount of young kids wearing city shirts in kingswood.I’ve lived in the wood all my life and as a kid in the 70s more of the kids in my street supported city than the gas.I guess if your family had no ties to either club back then, you were probably more likely to end up supporting city as we were in the top flight back then. That was more or less my own situation, though my old man had been to a few gas games as a casual watcher.luckily he saw the error of his ways! By the time I was in secondary school I’d say it was probably 50/50 city/rovers in my year so my question is how far do you have to go back to when kingswood really was a staunch gas area?
  19. I was thinking the same earlier today,it’s amazing how constant the stream of entertainment is that flows from them. Just when you think there can’t possibly be more they churn out another beauty every time.
  20. Yeah you're right,maybe I am worrying about nothing!
