  1. Without taking the time to dissect other clubs business, I'd guess we're around maybe 5th to 10th for money spent this window? Sounds as though we've spent a little under 5 million on McCrorie, Dickie and Knight. Coventry just splashed 8 million on Ellis Simms, so they're immediately clear of us. Worth bearing in mind, looking at one window in isolation can be quite misleading. Prior to this window, we've been very cautious financially with free agents and small fees (George Tanner) for a good two or three years, as we navigated FFP issues. This summer, we seem to be past said issues and with the Semenyo sale and a potential further big pay packet coming for Scott, we've loosened the belt substantially.
  2. First bid in. The calm is coming to a close and the storm is starting to rumble. Here’s hoping we price them out. Considering they’re starting 10 million short (assuming the widely quoted 25 million is correct, I hope it’s 30), it doesn’t seem impossible.
  3. I would LOVE it if we said: 25 million was for early business to give us time to replace Alex, now the season is 3 weeks away he’s 30.
  4. ‘Big’ and ‘small’ club is intentionally vague. If you’re talking attendances we’re pretty big in the Championship. If you’re talking honours/trophies we are indeed in the ‘small 6’. Stadium/facilities we’re big. Historic League position we’re probably middling to low. But if random Twitter accounts want to name us a ‘small 6’ club, the best thing we can do is prove them wrong.
  5. Didn't realise all three GK kits had been 'announced'. Must've been when we got the home and third kits back around April time? Which GK shirt goes with the yellow third kit does anyone know? Of course the black one at the front will be used alongside our red home kit, I'm guessing the blue GK kit with the yellow third kit and the pink with the un-announced away kit? This is a good point. Between this and the ever-changing home kit, this is all getting a bit out of hand!
  6. Having a mare today with my typos! I’m usually quite fastidious about spelling, having an off day.
  7. Yea I said the same. Wanted another centre-half but singing Knight means we have more than enough in midfield to utilise Naismith at LCB. How good is that team/depth on paper btw? The bloated squad of misfits of two years ago feels like decades ago.
  8. We got him. Welcome Knighty! Haha - fair play.
  9. I’ve seen you raise this point before Dave and have been meaning to ask you, if this is the case can a selling club not refuse to give a set value? Can they say to interested parties ‘stake your claims’ and effectively auction their player to drive up sums? So team x offers 20 million, the selling club leaks that info and says ‘not enough’, team y knows 20 won’t get the deal done so offers 21 million, so on and so on until all but one team has backed out and you have a winner? I realise this isn’t how it works, I guess what I’m asking is can it be?
  10. So surely we've had some money knocked off the Knight deal then. Otherwise I'd have rather kept Wilson than lost for zilch! But I'm sure it's all part of the Knight deal.
  11. Not a midfield I'd be unhappy to see at all. I'm just so reticent to not use Matty James in an ideal midfield. But that's ultimately a good thing, options and high quality competition. As things are we have Naismith, James, Scott, Williams, Taylor-Clarke, Weimann and Benarous vying for the three midefield roles (Weimann and Benarous for the more advanced midfield role). Add Knight and our midfield is strong and deep.
  12. Don’t think FI are particularly strong when it comes to breaking news. Let’s hope this is also nonsense.
  13. I heard hungry like the wolf on the radio the other day and realised it had a ton of chant potential. While driving I thought of… Conway’s so fine, first touch is sublime; he’s on the hunt, he’s after you; He’s 20 years old, a sight to behold; and heeeee’s hungry for a gooaaaaaaaal. Open to amendments/criticism ?
  14. That Plymouth kit is a thing of beauty.
  15. I could kiss you, this was the one thing I was a little apprehensive about but sorted. Thanks for the guide ??
  16. Has it's pros and cons of course, and I can totally understand why people would like replays to stay. Especially the potential for big away days going out the window.
  17. Needlessly changing the formula for sure, but not the death of the FA Cup imo. I'll still be watching. Also, ET and penalties is better than a replay imo. Better to get a result on the night and gives the lesser team a better chance of progressing.
  18. I thought they might drop the away kit tonight anticipating some backlash to the e-ticket news earlier, but not to be.
  19. Which does complicate matters. They should’ve gone all in for Firmino imo. Free transfer, and can play central facilitating the two wingers. If they’d managed to sort that and Mbappe, and played a front 3 of Mbappe, Firmino, Vini in front of the prior mentioned midfield… damn.
  20. Yep Kroos and Modric are on the way out but that only tells a small story of their midfield strength. Tchouameni - best young dm in the world. Camavinga - young cm (albeit used at LB last season), massive ceiling. Valverde - fantastic young dynamic cm. And now Bellingham. They’re transitioning from the best midfield in the world (Casemiro, Kroos, Modric) to the new best midfield in the world (Tchouameni, Bellingham, Valverde). Front line is much quieter, Vini and Rodrygo both fantastic but Asensio is leaving and new signing Joselu is unlikely to be of required quality. Hence, go get Mbappe.

Without checking, an improvement on my previous years I believe! Thanks again Nogbad for organising this, it's a pre-season rite of passage for me at this point! Great work and looking forward to the next one.
  22. This is more what Madrid need. Bellingham is a fab signing but midfield was probably their strongest area prior to his joining, it certainly is now. With Benzema gone they need to consider attack, if they can bring in Mbappe and a more central player that's one hell of a front line along with Vinicius.
  23. Will be fascinating to see how this plays out - is she caretaker just for pre-season or will she be given a run of matches at the start of the season I wonder? Wish her luck regardless, cool move from FGR.
