If the players pick the captain do they choose someone they like rather than respect, or even fear a little bit?

This is a high profile game against one of the best teams in the world and the prices are broadly aligned to the game five years ago, allowing for inflation. I’m really not sure what people were expecting.

Although he didn’t move to another club, the ‘departure’ of Cheese through injury has to be one of the biggest disasters for City.

Annoyingly Chris hadn't been available for the 2nd game of City's season, a League Cup tie, as he "had suffered a knock on Saturday". Back then we believed what we were told, so Chris was not cup tied and picked up a League Cup winner's medal with Chelsea.

Before the Lansdowns (1980s onwards) we were broadly a third tier club with an awkward stadium (however much affection people felt for it).

Since the Lansdowns we are an established second tier club with a superb stadium and facilities.

You can’t separate the infrastructure from the football as easily as you suggest. They come as a package e.g. attracting players to sign for us.
