Exactly this, the performances of late have been incredibly poor, I’d argue worse than at the beginning of NP’s tenure. We only just beat Barnsley and they were by miles the better team on the day. Our league position is more to do with the shite that is around us rather than just our own abilities. I honestly can’t see what the NP regime is bringing, you occasionally see a bit of fight, but even that appears to have disappeared in the last few games.

We are just over third of the way through the season, and we are relying on 2 other teams being worse than us, assuming that Derby don’t have some form of mini-resurrection. We just don’t even look like a team that can draw games, we are always going to concede, and at best we might score the odd goal ourselves.

Would anyone else be able to get an immediate tune out of this lot, I’m not personally sure, if you brought in Warnock on a short term deal, he’d expect to have some players with a bit of fight but apart from one or two we’ve got nothing that fits the bill.

Maybe the analysts can come up with a “nasty bastard” algorithm in their recruitment systems in time for Jan, as we need a couple of those, forget about the ability to carry the ball from defence or if they are good human beings, this lot needs players capable of fighting for 95 minutes and making City an utterly unpleasant team to play against.

“Nasty bastard” algorithm - love it and it hits the nail on the head.

The culture of an organisation ultimately reflects the person sitting at the top.

The club is riddled with niceness.

  2. The opening suggestion seems very naive to me.

If Warnock rallied us to mid-table safety (or better) he would effectively be saying to Nige “There you go. I achieved what you were clearly unable to do. I’m off now so don’t mess it up again “

If we were to continue to descend to relegation under Warnock then Nige would say to him “What have you done? You’ve taken us down and now I’m expected to be a League 1 manager”

You can’t get a win-win for both men.

  3. This runs much deeper than whether NP is up to the job. Nobody we appoint to the job ever seems up to it at Tier 2 level. The club seems dysfunctional at its core.

Although I do wonder if Nige is basically not a well man since his first bout of COVID and is struggling to exert himself or care enough.

sorry to anyone offended,i didnt realise this had changed as well.  it was reference to the chinese takeaway  i will efit it if my mistake causes offence, however, the comments regarding it,make more sense with with the original post there and i cant get slated for trying to cover a genuine unknown error if i do so.  ,i didnt know it would. if there are any offended chinese here, drop me a pm and i will personally apologise to you.

Too many people being offensive and too many people being over-sensitive to offence. The stupidity of modern times can be measured by the number of apologies being issued.

Anyway, come on you Reds! (apologies to any reactionaries who may be offended by my apparent call to Communism)

If you've read Rich's and DaveFevs posts on Page 1 and let that sink in then you might understand why some fans might see it as an achievement to scrape safety this season (especially after last year).  Doesn't mean people are happy with it, but they may see that as an 'achievement' to secure Championship status for another year given our predicament.

It is ridiculous to want Pearson sacked if we lose on Saturday. It is ridiculous to regard scraping safety as an achievement. Can we please move to the middle ground a bit. It’s quite a big space to fit in everyone’s rational opinions.

One point above the bottom three at the end of season will be a magnificent achievement by Pearson, coaches, medical staff, playing staff and supporters.

I think we can reasonably have higher expectations of NP than that. If that is his personal target then we really are in trouble.

  7. It’s good that we have moved away from an era where players had fish and chips for lunch before a game, a couple of ciggies at halftime and a pint of milk at the end of the match.

Rennie obviously knows his stuff and it’s good to see a professional approach to fitness with technology and data.

But I do wonder if things are starting to get over-complicated with too much fine detail possibly clouding the bigger picture. Players may start to avoid taking a risk in a game (the sort of thing that can make a game exciting to watch) because they know it may affect their performance statistics.

There is such a thing as paralysis by analysis.

  8. In a game, if you try some flicks, long through passes and dramatic overhead bicycle kicks then by the law of averages a few of them will come off over a season and that is what is remembered by those who witness it. You forget the majority of failed attempts.

To be consistently skilled so that it consistently pays off requires practice, practice, practice, practice, practice…..

    There is no skill gene.

When I got married many moons ago,I wore a suit for the first and last time in my life.I wanted to get a blue suit and the future Mrs Slacker helped me choose one.It was many years later when she admitted she helped me choose a suit in her preferred colour of green and just let me believe it was blue.

She wanted to marry a bloke in a green suit?
