Cardiff fans themselves will tell you they have an identity crisis where they don't know what their style of play is.
At least QPR set up in a way to nullify us and deserved it.
Cardiff haven't had to do much for that. Two poor teams but the first bit of quality with the corner and they deserve the lead.

We get what we deserve unfortunately

Why,oh why is our first instinct when we get a ball played into a midfielder that they nearly always look or play it backwards. There have been times when the player receives the ball with space in behind him but invariably goes back......
It's the patterns they've been told to follow. Can't concede if we play it safe. Been like it since LM's been here.

They key thing is the bit in bold for me.
The safer option for him was to add to the style we already had then integrate his style once he has a preseason.
His approach is incredible inflexible for what essential doesn't suite the players we have - and that's down to him and his inexperience as a manager - which was always a possibility.
The few times we've added control at the back with the counter attacking elements of the old regime we've looked good against better opponents.
Every time he's reverted to type with the behaviours and patterns he wants we've been dreadful and mindnumbing to watch.
Rather be mid table with a paper thin squad with academy lads getting opportunities and pressing every team that we play then watch this almost fully fit squad amble about trying to play a boring style of football.
Just my opinion on the style, don't have to agree. It just isn't for me.

Back him so I won't struggle with insomnia anymore, the games and his interviews make me drowsier quicker than counting sheep.
They'll back him in the summer because they gotta back their boy. I hope it all clicks but it's Bristol City - the inevitable fumbling the ball and bringing someone proven in to fix the mess the hierarchy make.

I can't get my head around how we were so up for Southampton and so opposite for QPR and Weds. Fair enough we raised our game for the cup games but to go from Southampton to this is a shambles.
Because we'd have less of the ball against the bigger teams and our players work better on instinct and a more counter attacking style.
Then we revert to manningball possession against the teams who don't want to dominate the ball and we get found out.
Same old. So predictable.

We had a positive identity. Hard to break down - top defensive record, press teams off the park.
Lacking in forward and creative areas and lots of injuries due to the amount of running but you couldn't fault the effort and we weren't far off having it all click together.
Thrown it all away.
Injuries haven't stopped piling up, we've only looked good when we played high press counter football like the previous manager.
At least with the limited squad we saw opportunities for young lads through our academy.
You won't see any emerging academy player getting a chance under Manning with him desperate to get results with an almost full squad availability.
It is going to take years and a reshaping of the squad to play this sleepwalking follow the patterns-or else football to a good level.
It sure isn't getting me out of my seat watching it.
Got another few years of this. Buckle up. It's going to be a looooooooong boring bumpy ride.

I'm enjoying Naismith.
"Sometimes in training we play a game where you're not allowed to tackle each other... honestly we look a little bit like that". Hahahah.
That week 'On The Grass' paying dividends!

Manning is a likeable guy? Now I’m not going to disagree per se, but he’s pretty low down the list of guys I’d consider likeable.
Nige was a likeable guy, Manning? I’m not so convinced… too robotic.
Maybe I should say harmless instead of likeable

Remember when we used to have one of the best defensive records in the league? Look so brittle now.
Been bailed out by a wonder header by Knight.
We were told when LM came in he wanted to instil patterns and behaviours to the team.
Do the same things over and over until it works. And looks like we've been found out again. Going to be a tough second half, gotta go for it.
Thrown away the high press and endeavour for something we just aren't and won't be. Going to have to change half the squad to play the fluffy possession football.
They are fighting for their lives and putting in what's required. Our season has been over for a while now. No way near the finished article.
When we play the basketball end-to-end high press football and put our opponents under pressure I enjoy watching it. But it seems that the head coach doesn't want us to play that way. He reverts to type with the patterns and behaviours and these are the performances we get. So flat.
Manning is a likeable guy but for me personally his football isn't.

This has been coming for about 20minutes. Why didn't manning change tactics?

He's had a lot of them this season, about time one went in

Love me some front foot football

bit of a rogue one but seem to remember Liam Walsh scoring one at QPR, was probably a cup game
-
Don't play one dimensional football which is super predictable and easy to play against.

Wouldn't have made a difference with the way we were playing second half.
-
Knight wasn't getting anything in the middle so he goes to a 4231/442 with a lopsided right side Sykes getting forward and Conway trying to drop in.
Trying to get the ball wide and get the ball across whilst Mebude had no overlap, and Cornick was too far inside to give Sykes a pass.
Should have kept Mehmeti in the middle for at least an option to pass forward through the centre but the way we set up with no overlapping or creative player in the middle just gave the game to QPR, they could have defended us till next week with those changes.
They got it right today and we got it oh so wrong. Didn't look like creating much after Bell came off, had the beating of his man quite well first half.
-
They deserved that. Dreadful performance from us.
Second half was so one dimensional and they ate it up.
God that's annoying. Really poor changes from Manning, how's Mebude meant to beat his man when he's isolated with no overlap.
-
Don't like the wingers high and wide, just isolates them, tuck them in and let the fullbacks overlap, barely seen Sykes or Roberts get forward
-
Just belting the ball at each other, no calm, no creativity, it's mindnumbing to watch
-
-
Our players work better off instinct and having less time on the ball - when we have time on the ball a lot of the players just haven't got the nous or creativity to break teams down.
Always been a problem for us when we come up against sides who sit in. QPR haven't done much and didn't need to do much to get their goal - same old story.
Amount of times the ball has gone to Cornick, Knight and Williams and the pace of our attack slows right down. This isn't the right type of game for them, they don't make the right decisions when they have time on the ball, this was similar with Weimann too.
We're going to have to take some risks with runners from midfield and full back now if we're going to break these down.
No more passive play, make the right changes, get out there and put these under some serious pressure.

Knight, Cornick and Williams not the type of players you want on when you have sustained possession and trying to carve teams open.
They are sitting in, not leaving many gaps and waiting to break on us, they've done quite well so far.
McCrorie very dependable.
