Bit of both here but I do feel that if a keeper is coming for it there, you take the lot including your defenders. Max doesn’t and will not have the presence to do that. Perhaps the new lad will provide real competition.

We have a quality problem in key areas.

I actually think Pearson may call it quits / take an alternative role at the end of the season. The game is changing, his hands are consistently tied and he’s certainly not getting any younger. We are still some way away from him being able to operate with relative freedom. Another season of struggle beckons and I wonder whether he’ll call it quits.

Why though? Surely you’ve seen enough false dawns at Ashton Gate to not get carried away. Also, all sides will have periods or games where performance levels are below standards. The important thing is to not see these performances over an extended period and how we bounce back. Improvement is needed. Absolutely. No disagreement here. Yet should we hit another green patch, I still fully expect a dour performance or 2 in amongst another run. It’s football.
