  1. Let's be honest, it's a great problem to have. Feels like we've waited years for this. One thing I think is fairly clear, Chris Martin is not as effective when starting a game, currently. He needs to be brought on to protect a lead. I'd look to set up similar to Cardiff, but with the following changes: - Wilson at Right Wing Back. - Massengo and Scott central (Scott may have to cover Weimann in advanced role if absent). Possible that Matty James comes into midfield if Scott plays as the '10'. I'd like to see Conway and Wells continue up top (too early for Semenyo to start). *Edited - completely overlooked Joe Williams, which adds to the midfield conundrum. I'd expect Williams and Massengo, with Scott as the advanced midfielder. Allowing Weimann time to recover/start on the bench, we certainly don't want to gamble on his fitness, as he is crucial.
  2. His job at this moment in time is to manage the mentality of the squad. We are making progress, but he needs to make sure we are still aware of the areas in which we can improve. Mentality will play a big part this season, especially within a small squad. We've built up some momentum, and with that can come added pressure. Don't expect to see Nige smiling with delight at recent results, he will keep pushing for more from the squad.
  3. There's certainly much to like at the moment. One huge change I have found so far this season, is I have full faith that we can outscore the opposition in any game. Our forward line is exceptional. Any combination of players seems to work. The link up play is brilliant. The Semenyo goal last night proved how quick both Conway and Semenyo were to press (in the 93rd minute) and got what they deserved. All 5 of our main attacking options have already scored this season, and goals win games. Let's hope the momentum continues.
  4. An awful lot of all Prem games. Could be a fantastic opportunity to progress through to the later rounds of the competition this year. I can picture it now... "Still life in this perhaps for Bristol City, In by Conway, it's Scottttttt".
  5. He deserves so much credit for the work he does for the club. The transition from Under 21's football to the senior squad has become seamless because of the work he does. Having the likes of him and Scotty at the club has such a positive impact. They know what the club is all about and will pass on that mentality into the next generation.
  6. Decent draw. Bonus of playing at home, and an opportunity to progress to the next round.
  7. There's some grit in this squad. Really came alive after the equaliser. In previous years we would have crumbled. A good night's work. On a personal note, I bet on City 2-1 and City 3-1. Cashed out of the 2-1 bet for £150, and then won another £240 from the 3-1 result. A lovely Wednesday night all round.
  8. Get ready for Kadji. This lad is special! Great to see Semenyo back in the squad. Also, what a positive that we can make changes and still look very strong as a starting 11.
  9. Used to love being able to bet on Flint to score. Great odds for a long time as the bookies didn't pick up on the fact that he was scoring regularly. The season after our promotion, he was around the same odds as our strikers to score anytime.
  10. I fancy City to win 3-0 tonight. I think we will make changes, but we have players that will want to impress to try and earn a place in the starting 11 over the next few weeks. Competition for places is increasing. Not too many changes we can make defensively, other than the wing backs. Klose will likely come into the starting 11.
  11. For the first time in a very long time, our squad looks like it could put out various starting 11's that would look strong. We have strength in depth, albeit within a small squad. We now have a squad of players who are well-suited to our formation and system. I'm expecting changes at wing back (both sides), and King to play in midfield, and possibly a strike force of Martin and Bell. I think Weimann and Williams will be rested. Robins uncut hints at a few returning from injury. It's likely too early for Semenyo, but Matty James could return to the squad.
  12. It will be the Liverpool fans protesting at the state of their midfield at this rate. All I've seen is Henderson and Milner moaning at everyone, when they aren't even winning their individual battles in midfield.
  13. I completely understand the fans anger towards the owners. But I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the protest temporarily stop whilst they welcomed their new £70 million player into the stadium.
  14. Challis speaks very well. Also get the impression that he is perfectly suited to academy football. Great to hear that we are trying to mirror our style of play all the way through the age groups. Nige really has created a 'club' feel once again. For a while we seemed to only be focused on the first team and signing players from other clubs. Now there seems to be a genuine pathway for our youngsters, and opportunities will be presented to those that are ready for the step up.
  15. The Twitter exchange between the two seemed to indicate there was some bad blood between the two. Warnock mentioned that Spence had all the ability, but needed to adjust his attitude.
  16. Having that at their age is fantastic. The aggression and determination to win the ball back for the team. Scott's trio of sliding tackles against Wigan was incredible. There's a special feeling about this squad at the moment. It feels as though Pearson has cleared out the bad influences, and we now have a good blend between experience and youth. Multiple leaders on the pitch and within the squad, and passionate youngsters keen to make their mark.
  17. The insight from Trevor Challis during the Luton game was very interesting. During different phases of play, he stated that the academy teams were following suit, so we have a style of play throughout the academy that will make progression through the age groups to the first team seamless. Highlighted Conway's pressing as something that the academy strikers were coached to do, in order to mirror what the first team wanted.
  18. Ability to judge a character. The back on forth of social media between the two, highlights there isn't much love lost. Warnock seemed to be the bigger man and congratulated him on promotion, but Spence's post was full of arrogance.
  19. We have so may promising youngsters, many of whom seem on the cusp of breaking into the first team squad. A number of the youngsters are training regularly with the first team. It seems we have a conveyor belt of talent.
  20. Apparently he has fallen out with Conte already. Neil Warnock must be laughing to himself right now. He spoke previously of Spence's attitude. Conte wants Spence to go out on loan, and Spence is reportedly refusing. It didn't seem like the best move at the time due to the number of wing backs Tottenham already had. From the outside looking in, it seems he could be one whose attitude has a detrimental impact on his career.
  21. Conway's attacking attributes are clearly very good, and he is a natural goalscorer. But one thing that impresses me the most (also the same with Alex Scott) is the aggression he has to his game. Within the first 5 minutes of yesterday's game, he pressed the Cardiff defence and made a challenge that got the crowd going. It's great to see that aggression from someone of his age. He possesses similar qualities to Semenyo, can you imagine those two charging at defenders, with Weimann in behind? The academy production line is very strong, and we have the likes of Palmer-Houlden, Owers and Kadji (to name a few) waiting in the wings.
  22. That's a cracker! Imagine Section 82 getting that going. That would be some atmosphere when the players are doing their lap around the pitch after a win.
  23. Jared Gillett (I believe)? The decision making today was all over the place. Seemed to miss an abundance of fouls on Newcastle players. I think more managers will echo Nige's comments in the coming weeks. I saw Maatsen (Burnley) got sent off yesterday, for the exact same thing that Freeman did to Sykes. Albeit with 'a tad' more force...
