  1. It's just my opinion. I don't think at the suggested wages mentioned he's worth keeping, especially when we've been good at finding quality players at affordable fees/wages. If he was staying for 10k rather than 15k for example, I'd be more open to it. It's not about trusting their judgement on Kalas, I'm not suggesting it's a big disaster just giving my take on it. If the club want to keep him at those wages then fair enough, it doesn't directly correlate to my opinion on recruitment.
  2. Don't think he'd be good value for that money personally and I'd trust the recruitment team to bring in a suitable replacement. We've seen glimpses of true quality but for me Kalas has struggled to hit the same heights as he did with Webster next to him, I'd happily move on and refresh things at the back now. If he signs I hope he proves me wrong and gets back to his very best but it's too much of a gamble for me. Not worried about injuries though.
  3. More likely to be signing number three than anything cryptic around a former number three. Most likely the club account maintaining interactions during the break.
  4. I assumed that's where he'd be playing, especially if we're sticking with a back 4.
  5. Of course, it's hardly a season ending problem. There aren't many versatile players who've come through our academy with promotion and Premier League experience who are available on a free transfer. It's disappointing if he's chosen to go elsewhere, it's not a big surprise. We may well sign an out and out winger instead, or put those wages towards a number 10 and carry on with Bell and Mehmeti out wide, and be better off.
  6. Interesting reading fans suddenly decide they didn't want Bryan, wouldn't have fit in, too old, not good enough etc. It's a big disappointment to have potentially missed out on a player with Bryan's experience and quality. Based on his past decision making it's not a surprise unfortunately.
  7. Personally I’d be very disappointed but not at all surprised if he goes elsewhere.
  8. That can’t be right, City posted “home” on Facebook a month ago?
  9. That was the Ashton Gate account, and it’s something that gets posted fairly often based on a quick search. I’m sure Bryan will be arriving but don’t think those tweets are linked.
  10. There probably is a chance if they’re scouting him, may not happen but would be a pretty much risk free signing.
  11. I wonder why Burnley are looking at him then?
  12. They had injuries to key players like Saliba and didn't have the squad depth to deal with them. You don't win the league starting players like Rob Holding, especially when Man City are chasing you. Will be interesting to see what they get up to in the summer and if they're able to challenge again. I don't get the annoyance with Arsenal some people have, they play good football and are building a squad the right way - developing young players. I'd much rather see them win the league over Man City or Liverpool.
  13. It makes no sense, martial arts aren't inherently Asian.
  14. He won't be here next season. We'll receive bids for him and someone will meet our valuation, from his perspective why would he risk a move to the Premier League by staying here for another year? All it takes is his ACL popping and the opportunity may never present itself again. He can push for it but anyone spending £25 million will want him in their squad and I would be amazed if that was then a deal breaker for him.
  15. Obviously for the club it's great as it's someone else's money. From Lansdown's point of view he must be disappointed with us going from a mid table championship side, to a league one side, back to a mid table side whilst spending nearly a quarter of a billion pounds under his ownership. I don't like the "sustained a loss" argument because he's propping up his own asset and has overseen us being a loss-making outfit. This of course aligns with most other football clubs but to my view that is the bare minimum requirement of a football club owner - not letting their club go bust. Some owners have failed but the vast majority manage to keep their clubs above water. My point is that the viewpoint that a change of ownership wouldn't be a terrible idea is seen as sacrilege to some people. I don't understand that, there have been a lot of achievements under Lansdown but in my view there have been just as many, if not more, failures. Hence me asking if people considered a quarter of a billion pounds for little long term progress on the pitch was a good ROI. Infrastructure-wise we've come a long way, I wonder if that will be Lansdown's legacy which allows new ownership to push the footballing side of things onwards.
  16. They didn't look effective though? Huffed and puffed and couldn't create a chance,. I do understand not everyone plays beautiful football but they looked a poor side. I'd assume they aren't as they're in the top 6 but they looked a poor side.
  17. It's an especially weak league this season. Watched Millwall v Birmingham last night and couldn't believe Millwall were anywhere near the top 6 never mind in it.
  18. No he isn't. Does well with balls over the top but has been struggling to track runners and win headers from crosses for too long now.
  19. Ok. Not finishing in the playoffs while ruining the finances of the club isn’t a huge achievement to me.
  20. Big difference between getting us there and almost getting us there though.
  21. Is it not just down to the fact that he has significantly improved? He was poor and susceptible to defensive errors, he’s eradicated these for the most part. Definitely deserves a new and improved deal.
