  1. Don't think he'd be good value for that money personally and I'd trust the recruitment team to bring in a suitable replacement.

We've seen glimpses of true quality but for me Kalas has struggled to hit the same heights as he did with Webster next to him, I'd happily move on and refresh things at the back now. If he signs I hope he proves me wrong and gets back to his very best but it's too much of a gamble for me. Not worried about injuries though.

Am I the only one who thinks Naismith is more likely to get pushed into a defensive midfield as a result of all the signings.  He looked much better there than at the back last season.  I feel it in me bone's...

I assumed that's where he'd be playing, especially if we're sticking with a back 4.

Are there other good players out there?

Of course, it's hardly a season ending problem. There aren't many versatile players who've come through our academy with promotion and Premier League experience who are available on a free transfer. It's disappointing if he's chosen to go elsewhere, it's not a big surprise.

We may well sign an out and out winger instead, or put those wages towards a number 10 and carry on with Bell and Mehmeti out wide, and be better off.

Not questioning his ability, more simply the money we are potentially spending when it has long been stated we wouldn’t be paying out big money for players.

the point on Bellingham fair enough but he potentially has a much higher ceiling and sell on value given his age but I get the point you’re making

This isn’t a big money transfer.

If anyone is in any doubt about whether this deal is happening or not, just remember that the club were posting pics of 'home' the other week. It's done. Relax.

That was the Ashton Gate account, and it’s something that gets posted fairly often based on a quick search. I’m sure Bryan will be arriving but don’t think those tweets are linked.

They choked it, absolutely choked it. End of.

Yes because in those 3 games they bottled it.

They had injuries to key players like Saliba and didn't have the squad depth to deal with them. You don't win the league starting players like Rob Holding, especially when Man City are chasing you.

Will be interesting to see what they get up to in the summer and if they're able to challenge again. I don't get the annoyance with Arsenal some people have, they play good football and are building a squad the right way - developing young players. I'd much rather see them win the league over Man City or Liverpool.

  7. He won't be here next season. We'll receive bids for him and someone will meet our valuation, from his perspective why would he risk a move to the Premier League by staying here for another year? All it takes is his ACL popping and the opportunity may never present itself again.

Worth considering he himself might push for a loan back. He's been very vocal about his want for lots of minutes season on season, he might be looking at Semenyo's early Bournemouth career as a warning of what a prem move can look like.

He can push for it but anyone spending £25 million will want him in their squad and I would be amazed if that was then a deal breaker for him.

    For the club or SL?

If its the former, of course. We have a brilliant stadium and training facilities and he's sustained us at a loss like most clubs week in week out. Could better decisions have been made i.e not recruiting MA definitely.

For SL, if your talking money. Definitely not.

Obviously for the club it's great as it's someone else's money. From Lansdown's point of view he must be disappointed with us going from a mid table championship side, to a league one side, back to a mid table side whilst spending nearly a quarter of a billion pounds under his ownership. I don't like the "sustained a loss" argument because he's propping up his own asset and has overseen us being a loss-making outfit. This of course aligns with most other football clubs but to my view that is the bare minimum requirement of a football club owner - not letting their club go bust. Some owners have failed but the vast majority manage to keep their clubs above water.

My point is that the viewpoint that a change of ownership wouldn't be a terrible idea is seen as sacrilege to some people. I don't understand that, there have been a lot of achievements under Lansdown but in my view there have been just as many, if not more, failures. Hence me asking if people considered a quarter of a billion pounds for little long term progress on the pitch was a good ROI. Infrastructure-wise we've come a long way, I wonder if that will be Lansdown's legacy which allows new ownership to push the footballing side of things onwards.

I think you need to differentiate between a side that plays attractive football and one that is effective. We look good on the eye at times but are not effective at getting results. Millwall probably the opposite.

I'd rather watch my team try to play but my god it can be frustrating when we can't take chances and switch off once or twice at the back in a game.

They didn't look effective though? Huffed and puffed and couldn't create a chance,. I do understand not everyone plays beautiful football but they looked a poor side. I'd assume they aren't as they're in the top 6 but they looked a poor side.

Not good in the air?! Hes the most dominant defensive winner of headers we have!

Reduced terms if possible and it has to be a new contract for him imo.

No he isn't. Does well with balls over the top but has been struggling to track runners and win headers from crosses for too long now.

It’s great that he’s proved you and the others wrong then. People only tend to comment when a player is out of form though. I know plenty who were of the same opinion as me so can’t agree with “virtually all of us”

Is it not just down to the fact that he has significantly improved? He was poor and susceptible to defensive errors, he’s eradicated these for the most part. Definitely deserves a new and improved deal.

Rather win the JPT than lose the UCL, 1 trophy to nil ? the point I was trying to make is it’s all very relative to the club. By our standards things are pretty rosy, whereas they’re having a nightmare. Of course they’re bigger and better than we are but they’re in a horrible moment. That’s all I was saying, no need to panic ?

    Behave.
