He was good today but would people be so excited if he wasn’t Scott Twine? His decision making in the box was a bit slow and off the pace, but, to be expected as he hasn’t played for a while. The true test will be if he plays regularly till the end of the season. If he plays well, and Burnley want to sell him, the crunch will be the fee, which was £4.5m in January. As City’s original target, Finn Azaz went for “only” £2.5m would City pay £4.5 for Twine? Or would Burnley reduce the fee? Or would Burnley, if relegated, decide to keep him as he’s a good Championship player?

Depends what Twine wants. He’s guaranteed first team football here under Manning, doubt he’d get it at Burnley.

  2. Didn’t do anything flashy but linked up play well. Definitely improved us going forward and we created more with him in the side than without him.

I’ll say it again. Give him the summer. Let the guy find his feet. I know that’s not what was sold, but nothing we can do about that. I believe he is the right man for the job and I’m certainly excited moving forward.

    COYRs

For me, Manning has to justify us rebuilding the squad to play possession football, vs the cost of sacking and replacing him and signing a few quality players to complete the counter-attacking squad we’ve built since Pearson came in.

If we get results with Manning’s main man (Twine) back in the side, and playing Manning football, then he’s earned the right to be backed properly in the summer.

  4. We’ve played counter attacking football and got a great result. Can we play Manning’s possession-based football and win? With Twine back and 3 ‘good’ fixtures it’s now or never for Manning to prove himself.

    He wasn't going anywhere.

If he’d lost today and at Plymouth the atmosphere is very different. This buys him the rest of the season.

The test is Plymouth. He has Twine back now, he has his man, can he play his style of football against poorer sides. We know we can play Pearson football against top teams and counter them as we’ve done today, can Manning go one further and break down low blocks?

Think everyone needs to give their heads a wobble. Just don’t buy it, it’s as simple as that. Ahhhh, but we hate the club at the moment don’t we, so let’s just have a meltdown over everything. It’s a tshirt lads. A T-shirt.

I’d understand if it was our kit, but it isn’t. Make yourselves a cup of tea. Maybe have a custard cream, and take 10 minutes out.

In through the nose, out through the mouth. Is there really any need for this outrage? 😂😂😂😂

Is there outrage? It's more that it's very odd for a midtable championship club to be releasing a fashion range for a centre back. If it was the gas who'd done the same we'd be in hysterics.

Add in the current mood around the place and it's just another poor decision.

This was from a Coventry City fan after the Wolves game....food for thought.

City give managers a lot more time than most clubs, LJ and Pearson were both given time to address bad runs of form and realistically Manning will be given the same.

Ok, (i know i'm stupid) i'm going to respond.

Results and performances under Manning have been VERY mixed, but if we're all being honest, it was no different during Nige's 3 years in charge.

I have no idea how things are going to pan out under Manning but he deserves a summer to recruit some of his own players. If after 15 games next season there is no obvious improvement then questions can be asked, but give the guy a f****** chance!

He has been on the back foot with many fans since day one, but he's trying his best and deserves our support. Lets get behind the team and support the football club, and not individuals.

Is it more cost effective to rip up another squad for a manager who hasn’t shown much promise, or get a manager in who’s style of play fits with our current squad?

Start of the season we seemed to be a creative player and a goal scorer away from genuinely challenging the top 6. If we’re going to persevere with Manning we need to change most of the squad to players who are much better retaining and using possession.

I really do wonder what more people want him to do man.

    He just showed the levels.

Was very nice work from Joshua, quite surreal seeing Ngannou on the other end of a devastating KO after seeing him flatline so many people.

No matter what happens in the ring tonight, there's no doubt who the winner already is.

I f******g love Ngannou, he's an absolute hero, but I think we'll see a Ruiz 2 style points domination from Joshua- I just can't see him taking the sort of risk that would allow Francis to land on him.

As do I, as an MMA fan his comments towards Fury at the press conference were so satisfying, he also fully deserves his payday coming from such humble beginnings.

Joshua should cruise through, I do think if he gets dropped the momentum will shift and could then see Ngannou ending things.

My son as well as being a Bristol City fan also supports Man City. We've been up there a few times. In their store they have a whole section dedicated to retro TOFFS shirts.

Most clubs do. Birmingham City did a full range of retro shirts that were really good, had the original sponsors etc so it’s definitely possible. No longer on their website so I can’t share but studied with some Blues fans and the quality was great.

Considering how much the club (understandably) money-grab wherever possible I’m surprised it hasn’t already happened. It can’t be related to boosting home shirt sales as there’s never any stock anyway!

  12. The reasoning behind it is tinpot but in fairness to the club, there’s been real demand for an official retro shirt to be released and they’ve finally done it. There’s clearly demand as it’s sold out immediately.

Hopefully they take the hint and actually release a range of retro shirts and have them for sale year round. It’s a no-brainer, fans clearly want them and it’s actually a good product instead of the usual shite that’s in the store.
