I work with a lot of youngsters in my job, I mean they are colleagues. I am absolutely staggered about those who regularly smoke weed or whatever just to 'cope' with daily life. Many have depression, self diagnosed in all cases and need a smoke to get through the day. They cant wait for their shift to finish so they can get on it again. Got to stress they don't smoke weed at work, instant dismissal so make do with ordinary cigarettes or vapes. They are nearly all heavy drinkers too. On weekends they get absolutely hammered through drink and drugs. It seems their way or life amongst them and their mates/peers.

Has that not been the case for young people for a long time? Obviously some drugs were popularised in the 90s and stuck around but the current generation aren’t the first to be working for the weekend.

I think social media has a massive impact on the lives of younger people and has led to a rise in mental health issues. Constantly seeing the highlights of peoples lives can make your own seem worse than it is. Whilst some certainly will have self-diagnosed themselves with something they don’t have, it’s very hard to get proper access to support (as others have highlighted) at the moment which means a lot simply don’t bother.

None of that is massively relevant to the thread, there’s always idiots at away matches, it takes other fans to police them unfortunately.

He did re-rupture his acl, but apparently all the injuries since have been quite bad hamstring ones. I assume quite common if they’ve taken muscle from the hamstring to repair the acl?

I thought he was coming back from re-rupturing it so assumed it was related to the ACL again.

I’m not an expert so can’t really comment, if it is his knee again that’s probably the end of his career as the reoccurrence rate for knee injuries if the first happened before you’re 23 is ridiculously high. If it’s his hamstring he might just be very unlucky.

Extended time off the pitch at his age will hamper his development either way.

I can’t imagine Benarous ever playing for City again, and possibly it’s the end of his career at professional level. Some players are doomed from a fitness / injury perspective and nothing can be done

If he’s done his ACL again that’s his professional career over. It will just keep getting injured.

You can play front football in a 3-5-2 formation !! - The League 1 promotion team ?

I am aware the plan was to mirror the first team but I have seen a few Academy games and am not so sure that was happening (certainly not all of the time), perhaps it just looked that way.

I agree I'm not sure why playing three at the back is so criticised by some posters. It's a perfectly good formation if used right and has been by loads of teams of the past including us. It's not even set in stone we'll use it.

3 at the back with wingback and front foot football are absolutely not mutually exclusive.

Arguably can be more suited to it

Because you need elite wingbacks for the level in order for it to be successful. We had them in league one, we don’t have them now.

It’s hard to play pressing football with wingbacks. It’s not impossible but difficult.

We will be recruiting and developing for a default formation (could be 3 at the back and wing backs). The Academy will play the same way to bring continuity.

Don't expect many (if any) James, King and Simpson type signings.

Bloody hope not. We’ve finally moved away from it and begun to press and play front foot football.

The academy have been matching the first team’s style of football for some time too.

And I bet you loved it at the time. I bet you didn’t think ‘you know what, this bit of success is all well and good but that Lee Johnson is not trying to get us promotion or to a Wembley final, the scoundrel is trying to ruin my club.’

Obviously it was a great night, but it’s a win in a cup match. It’s a bonus. It doesn’t make up for the 20 years of mediocrity and baffling decision making.

The last thing the team / club now need is to see a shite atmosphere empty seats for Saturday and Sheffield weds take the points , there’s no winners there in my eyes people who protest and not going are letting the team down , get to the gate make your feelings known then get behind the team .

the last thing we want is delusional owners , no manager and no points meaning plummeting down the league wtf that gonna achieve

The sentiment is great but that’s how anger gets swept under the carpet. If we win the next two this latest bit of incompetence will be forgotten about.

Got to draw the line somewhere and look past the next game and the next 3 points.

  8. We’re just treading water until we get new owners, it’s been that way since Lee Johnson left. That was the last proper attempt at going up from Lansdown (even if it was an idiotic attempt).

Rowett would do a job. Eustace would do a job. Not interested in any riskier appointments as they won’t be sensibly backed.

But apart from the stadium, the training ground, the financial stability to ride out tough economic times / covid, the play-off final what have the Lansdowns ever done for us?

Isn’t letting the ground/club fall apart the bare minimum of owning a football club? I appreciate not every owner does that but it’s not a huge achievement to me.

Not getting promoted isn’t really an achievement either?

Knight definitely has that about him and maybe Benarous could fill the Scott role ?

Scott was irreplaceable, like for like at our level.

Benarous has done his ACL twice already hasn’t he? Don’t get your hopes up.

That's exactly what happened. Fury didn't look like he'd trained for the fight at all. Billy Joe Saunders says Tyson's too surrounded by yes men, and that certainly appears to be the case as he pisses away any legacy.

Fair play to Ngannou, he was as basic as you'd expect and gassed hugely, but stuck to the task.

It was always a risky match because of Ngannou’s power. Very odd to have signed for Usyk before this fightweek began.

It’s very entertaining for an MMA fan though.
