  1. Let's hope those questions do get asked! I'm sure there will be excuses - they'll argue performances have improved, or the style of play is a work in progress with a change of manager mid-season (their fault mind!). They'll say we young developing squad inexperienced at this level, and that Manning hasn't had a summer transfer window or full pre-season. Some of those things may be true - but that's not what they said in November. Definitely reasonable to expect a higher points return than previous seasons under Nige given what they said. Last season 59 points finished 14th, season before 55 finished 17th. To get to 60 points requires us to get 23 points from the next 17. The next four are tough, so looks like we'll have some catching up to do.
  2. The cup games have definitely taken some scrutiny off him and the owners. 4 league games without a win and a tough run coming up - even if the performances improve (I think yesterday was a step up from the previous 3 league games!) the points per game probably won't be looking good by mid Feb. What would be acceptable to most from the next 4? I wouldn't bet on us winning any - Cov are a good side and though we used to win there every year I think those days are gone! Leeds, Boro and Southampton? Let's say 2 draws and 2 plucky defeats - not unrealistic - leaves us with 18 points from 17 games which across a season works out as less than 50 points. Have to hope we'll bounce back with games against QPR, Sheff Wed and Cardiff, but pressure will be on
  3. Agree with the posters pointing out 13 points from 16 - and that this isn't what BT and JL promised, and certainly isn't worth sacking Nige for. However not sure today's effort and performance is to blame. It was a lot better than Millwall, Birmingham and Preston. If we'd gave played like we did today in those games we'd have got a lot more than a single point and no goals, I'm sure. So will take a point today (against much better opposition) and some signs of progress.
  4. Next few league games are very tough on paper. If we play like we did today - we'll pick up a few points, but we won't win them all. The last three league games were very, very poor. But this sort of run is where Manning's whole spiel about not getting too emotional rings true.
  5. Said it earlier - they have some good players! We did really well to get back into the game from 0-1, and showed some good signs. Twine hit the ground running and put in several dangerous dead balls, we pressed and got in their faces, had them running back towards their own goal at times. Wasn't the constant back and forth between Tanner and Vyner that we've seen in some games. We played a lot better than we have done in the league recently - but Watford were also better than what we've come up against. Take a point and a solid performance and move on - free hit on Friday against Forest and hopefully another good atmosphere under the lights. Looking forward to it.
  6. Good little one two TGH. either side could nick it Him and dele Bashiru quality
  7. Bit harsh? We are trying to press aggressively, they juay have some very good players who are good with the ball in tight spaces. It's miles better than millwall/Birmingham- but so are Watford. Think it's the case of final ball/little bit if quality- mcrorie and Knight a bit rusty when they've got into good positions
  8. Bell on for Ross, Wells on for TC. Doesn't look like a change of shape
  9. Couple of great blocks from Pringy, love to see it
  10. Horrendous cross Ross! We do look like we want to move the ball with a bit of intensity wheb we win it, which is a very positive sign compared to previous home games. Game is finely balanced
  11. Very good chance for mcrorie. Free header, should hit the target. Twine's delivery causing some problems. Encouraging that we seem to have come out fired up after HT
  12. nice little dummy there from someone, was it Twine? Watford are a decent side - we don't have control but we look capable of causing them problems
  13. Last home game I did was Millwall and I think it was somebody else doing announcements - had hoped it was a permanent change! Is he just not interested enough to know who our players are, or not very good at reading? Either way, something like this happens most weeks!
  14. Probably. But he should have known better - it's only in a game full of box entries that the crowd really gets fired up.
  15. We used to have the whole atyeo before redevelopment - the flat home atmosphere problem goes back further than that. Mostly this is because we haven't, broadly speaking, had much to make any noise about! Secondly, the demographic of supporter has changed a lot even in my time (20 years or so) due presumably to higher ticket prices. The more sanitised match day experience means more families in attendance, including women. Most people regard this as a positive - its everyone's game. It's great to have families in attendance. But it doesn't make for a hostile atmosphere for away teams. I'm not sure moving the away fans will make much of a positive difference to us (you can argue I suppose that we give away teams too much of an advantage - when we go away we find ourselves tucked away in a corner) - but I don't mind being known as a ground that is a good experience for away fans. I think we can take some of the blame ourselves - I was in the singing section on new years day and it was dreadful (admittedly, so was the game)- 3 or 4 small groups all singing different songs (including songs about how the other group's songs were sh*t). That and 'I've got Harry cornick on my mind' doesn't exactly create an atmosphere. Being in the atyeo won't make a difference. I'd much rather we use any communication with club officials to hold them to account for their decision making - it was unbelievably frustrating watching the q and a a few weeks ago with people asking JL about where away fans are sitting, rather than grilling him on his running of the football club. The atmosphere will improve if we have a team that is good at playing football.
  16. I'd absolutely hate him if he played.for someone else. But he doesn't He was a big part of why we won tonight. Really got under their skin. He's a good footballer too!
  17. Think we've played better and lost! But trying to put the last few months to one and just enjoy seeing a team in red and white, 100% committed, out fight a Premier league side and get a result to be proud of. Well done lads W
  18. Enjoyed him referring to the Williams stand. Though as you say probably wasn't deliberate!
  19. Ah yes, fair enough. I was too quick to assume the worst!
  20. Great servant. Real team player. And not short on quality either. Sorry to see him leave our club. Not sure what he did to get such a short article on the OS. The man plahed 200 odd games and scored 50 goals! Especially given our media teams love in for former players who achieved far less than him (Happy birthday Jamie Paterson). Maybe he insulted Jon's robin.
  21. I want to get behind Manning and the lads. But also want JL and BT to be accountable for their brain dead stupid decision making. As others have said - either lying to the fan base, or gas levels of delusion. Either way - want them to take responsibility
  22. Since 2008, Johnson Senior won promotions with Yeovil (to the championship no less - where are they now?), Cheltenham, and Torquay. Johnson achieved much more than Brown since that play off final.
  23. we had 18 points from 14 games. Manning I think is 15 from 11. But having failed to score for 3 league games in a row, especially given that it includes Rooney's Birmingham and this lot, I for one feel less optimistic than I did on 28 Oct.
