  1. We did the double over Arsenal that season, good effort that
  2. Last time I remember being in Wedlock's was the day of Charlton in the FA Cup, as I was going out the door Michael Grade was walking in (like he was walking on to a yacht). Was he wearing a hat? Was he smoking a cigar? Was he giving "it" the "big 'un" ? Had Les Kew not known who the frug he was/turnt him away from the Directors' Lounge? I'll say yes but don't hold me to it.
  3. Yeah, Christmas Day sandwiched between consecutive wins, one of them a stuffing. Merry Christmas
  4. ... because you've probably been eating too much all year, and too much processed shite. However, if you have been eating like it's 1946 recently, or 1646, and have also spent the last six weeks dutifully making yer own mincemeat, Christmas cake, Christmas pud, yule log, mince pies, stuffing , gravy and bread Source, then get bloody stuck in and eat all you can.
  5. He could play Sat-Sat and skip the Tuesdays?
  6. Quietly slipping some of our "top boys" into the home seats I see, nice work lads (CSF)
  7. If he aims for the middle of the Dolman, you just never know
  8. I believe it is the first time. The closest to the criteria you set out there might be the 1980 winner, Robin Cousins, who did his skating just along the Portway at Shire.
  9. No, no. It's so that we can savage it with both barrells, safe in the knowledge we will never be invited
  10. By "bigging" ourselves up. By telling whoppers. By focusing on and shouting loudly about how many we are taking to West Ham whilst ignoring as much as possible and keeping quiet about Watford away. By adopting a bit of "fake it till you make it" Trumpery.
  11. No problem with that mate, my point is simply that those family situations will be the just the same in Portsmouth, Sunderland and Merseyside but they will go to away games regardless. That it's not the cost of it, or having two away games then a cup game away, just that we can't be "arsed" with going away like some other clubs can be "arsed." We're into it (football) just not that into it. Which isn't a "value" judgement merely an observation of how important football is to people in different parts of the country.
  12. It's just a simple fact, people elsewhere in the country with no more money - and sometimes less - go to football home or away, where we do something else. We're not as "passionate" about football and actually going to football matches as people in, say, Portsmouth, Sunderland or Merseyside. Nothing to get upset about.
  13. Blackpool at home? Crikey, we did have a bit of a "down" under Nige last season (which is easy to forget now)
  14. This time next season Rodney, we'll all be fit ....
  15. .... as they sang: "Going up, going up, going up"
  16. And people pay hundreds and or thousands every year to follow and watch these young, pampered chaps play, most of whom "kiss the badge" but really only give a toss whilst they're being handsomely paid (with a few exceptions). Most people in Bristol and the West Country are canny enough not to be suckered into this "passion," unlike Northern/Midlands/London folks and follow a Prem team sat on their apathetic WC arses in the comfort of their living rooms.
  17. Yeah, if we beat West 'am and draw Arsenal away, there'll only be about 700 there cos there's only so much .... (don't you mean "passion" ?)
  18. Ard-er than Ipswich, mate: there's five Nolan sisters, and there's only one Delia Smith
  19. Playing board games, arguing, slumping in front of the telly, that sort of thing?
  20. You should've seen that @Rt Hon Sir Les Kew and his Christmas morning Match Day Gravy thread, propper odd, mate
  21. I was going to mention Bruce Rioja but probably best I didnae now ....
  22. I bet you say that to all the ... er, forums?
