  1. They are very fortunate - this is the mild, mild West Country. And things aren't what they used to be. And that the 2015 rebuild and that concourse have softened any semblance of old-school agitation, such as there is, or was. And that there was the money to put distance between the riff-raff and the well-to-do. And that there are glass boxes to retire into. And that this is not Everton.
  2. Not the ones in Sneyd Park who shall remain nameless (on here) I trust?
  3. There must've been - in the dog years of Marcus Evans and Mick McCarthy - conservative Ipswich fans gravely advising uppity Tractor Boys itching for something new, different, to be done, to be "careful" what they wished for. Where we are now looks a lot like Ipswich under that duo, I think they had been in the Championship for the longest unbroken stretch, going around in circles, playing dour football.
  4. This is because it is what other clubs do/have done. We are copying, or trying to copy, what others have done successfully previously, always a few steps behind. We have nothing original going on here - like, say, Brentford with their approach; or Brighton; or Swansea a few years back - just pale imitation. Nothing original other than the Bristol Sport umbrella/group thing, which doesn't appear to have helped City to any great degree, and nobody else in football as far as I can think have so far chosen to copy.
  5. Great record, Pembo, as Numero Uno here: 4 games, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. Just the one goal conceded. Tightened us up at the back and turnt us around. Beat that, Flem-o!
  6. Jon never mentioned any of that, did he? It was all front-foot, reverse-sweep, ramp-shot, doosra baz-ball high-temp pressing or summat, nothing about "shopping," as I recall?
  7. I don't think the football lads amongst us will go for that, bit too subtle, but you've got something there
  8. Yes, it's all good fun. Right or wrong, @robinforlife2 has brightened things up for us all as we await the puff of smoke from the AG chimney
  9. Yes, I've had a look and in fairness to @robinforlife2 Frankie Lampards plays golf. Interesting .....
  10. It was probably a round in Dubai, tbf. Do they offer a 19th hole over that way?
  11. Playing golf - in this weather?
  12. You absolutely sure, mate? Because yesterday I emailed my mate and said: "John Eustace." Only to have to email again today, to say: "Er, forget John Eustace." I don't want tomorrow mate to be emailing my mate: "Mate, forget Frank Lampard. Be in touch tomorrow."
  13. If I was SL I'd call Tony Bloom and ask: "Tone, do us a favour: if you were 15th in the Championship who would you appoint?" Tony Bloom, seeing no threat, might be happy to oblige. While on the line, Steve might ask him if he knows of any players - in Ecuador or wherever - not quite Prem quality but good enough for 15th in the Championship. Steve might even go on to ask Tone, "if you had a somewhat underwhelming portfolio of sporting mediocrity to sell, any suggestions?" And round things off with a request for a tip for Cheltenham next March ....
  14. Less experience than LJ then, when he got here in Feb 16.
  15. Wish I had these technical skills (I'd do nothing else all day)
  16. Men plus women (20,000 + 8,000), it's not far off (don't forget the ladies)
  17. We are frequently advised to this end, but does anyone ever say this to Steve?
  18. Cos we should be 5 points clear of Leeds ..... with this squad
  19. Tinns Peaks, surreal goings on in a weirdo football-backwater starring, er, Kyle McFadzean, Sheryl Lee as Kasey Palmer, Madchen Amick as Lee "Shelly" Johnson, David Duckovny as "Downsey", (etc and so on)
  20. The Major. "I see Ipswich won again, Lansdown"
