  1. All of my family bar 3 key ones are City fans to be fair. My Rovers influence comes from my dad who's a massive Rovers fan and great granddad who was a huge Rovers fan. And my great granddad on the other side was a professional footballer before the war and played for Rovers. Literally every single other member of my family are City fans, makes family events interesting when one of the teams is on awful form (usually Rovers unfortunately for me!).
  2. That's true, it's the same on Gaschat too. Some people way too keen to try and get a heads-up on City fans when in reality you're a bigger and better run club than us and have been for a while, but Gaschat will focus on a badge and an U23s game Vs Nottingham Forest to try and win for once. It's embarrassing in that case because in reality we've got nothing to mock you for, although I was hopeful we might in 2013-14 when you were in a relegation battle for a lot of the season but picked it up and then finished mid-table only to dominate the league the following season, whilst we got relegated to the Conference, laughable.
  3. My apologies, in terms of the meaning of irony it's always confused me. Ever since "isn't it ironic" was a hit song when in fact none of it was ironic. Just one of those things. I see your point now . It just seems this thread has a lot of irrational piss-taking. But if that's what this thread is meant for then fair enough. Not to say there isn't a lot of rational criticism on here, of course. Rovers are a comedic club a lot of the time. If anything I look at a club like Yeovil or Chesterfield or Leyton Orient and say at least we're not them right now
  4. I agree with your reasoning and once I have kids I'll probably follow suit, but all I'm saying is I wouldn't be the first to criticise anyone for going to away games if I didn't go, no matter how many away games I've gone to. Also I really don't see the irony, if you could tell me the irony of posting on the section of a rival fans' forum dedicated to my club, then go ahead. And no I'll make sure I don't post on page 999. Although I would say i've been responsible for 5 pages so oops! But we've given you a lot to take the piss out of in recent years. Although the length of this thread does surprise me, because we've generally been pretty good since the thread started, with the exception of this season, although I imagine the majority of this thread will be focused on past-years, one off events and Gaschat posters and Taylor and the Al Qadi family. I'm sure if this thread was around for 2013/14, the thread would've hit 1000 in a couple weeks!
  5. May bad but Angers' strikers and strikers from France has seemed to be a very popular choice in recent times: Kodjia,Diony and Diedhiou. I know I said it as a joke but I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if City got Bahoken in the summer
  6. Even if not, there's plenty of other ways you can watch them.
  7. It does seem like maybe City would have been better with 2 up top in that sense. That way he could incorporate both. Fammy is Diedhiou right? Also found out it weird City's tendency to buy strikers from Ligue 1, will Stéphane Bahoken be next on the list? 9 goals in Ligue 1 this season.
  8. My apologies towards you then because I thought you were posting during the Ipswich game, but were there not also fans posting during the Ipswich game? It's a genuine question and I know this thread is centred about the pisstake that is Bristol Rovers FC. But surely the criticism of posting whilst a club is playing shouldn't be limited exclusively to the only Rovers fan on the forum (even though I posted at half-time), if you get my point.
  9. Did Johnson try 2 up top? Otherwise seems like poor management to use Weimann as a winger instead despite him being on great form at ST
  10. Yes to be honest, I did think you were going to get smacked today so congratulations on the win. From the stats you clearly deserve it and Weimann looks a very good player. I think there was a buzz about him scoring a lot at the beginning of the season correct? Did he fall of a bit? Inconsistent? Genuine question.
  11. That's fair enough mate, but it does seem a little odd to criticise a fan on supposedly not going to an away game despite the fact you don't go to away games yourself, however valid the reason. If you get my point.
  12. I'm not on a rivals forum talking shit about my rivals though, I'm on a section of the rivals' forum dedicated to my club talking about my club that I'm just about to go and see. Whilst I understand your point, I don't see it as that weird but it's just my opinion. If I was shit-talking and taking the piss, I'd agree. Also, not a means of criticism, but if your only focus is City on match days, then why are you posting on here? A part of your forum dedicated to another club. From what I remember you were posting when City were playing Ipswich...I may be wrong so do correct me if so but no criticism was given to the City fans who were posting on here during the Ipswich game.
  13. You're correct mate! As I only live 10 minutes from the Mem I'm already home.
  14. I've explained a number of times why I post on this forum but whatever. Use this forum much more than I've ever used Gaschat because i'm a pessimistic fan and have been surrounded by City fans all of my life. You're talking about MY club on a matchday for Bristol City. How is that any different? And @BanburyRed I assume you're on the way home from Sheffield? Wouldn't want to be a hypocrite would you?
  15. I never posted once during the game. I posted at half-time, I also made no comment on how you weren't at the Ipswich game.
  16. Outstanding goal today but what Championship clubs would want a player who's only been scoring for around 4 months in 3 years? The teams who go up will have better players, and I can't think of a League 1 club that'd be able to afford the fee Coughlan would likely demand for him (you may point to the Taylor, Bodin and Harrison fees; but Taylor refused to sign a new deal unless there was a low release clause, Bodin only had 6 months left on his deal and Harrison had been good for a couple seasons). That's just my opinion though.
  17. It was with 20 minutes to go until the game started, I live 10 minutes from the Mem.
  18. No, not you. I was referring to someone of the username "Sniper." Who said "Get the **** off our forum you ******* bell-end. You're a ******* embarrassment to Bristol. The sooner you go into Administration and disappear up your own shite pipe the better. If it wasn't for my Mrs, she's 5ft 2 (I'm 6ft 2 and 17st of rage) and just about keeps my temper in check I'd be in a lot of trouble. Whenever I see one of you sad pathetic ******* in that puke up shirt I just want to rip your face off. Lucky for the **** in B&Q the other day as he nearly had some decking."
  19. I've never chucked one insult, and the only person i've ridiculed has been the 6 foot 4 of pure rage who said they wanted to fight anyone with a Rovers shirt on. And I would've done it regardless of the fanbase, because people like that don't belong in football.
  20. But they didn't sing it for any other reason than it was a chart hit at the time. They had no relation to the song and sang it in no other game. Especially since Plymouth didn't ever sing it again after the Rovers game. Just my opinion though. And can see your point.
  21. I think the story is they played each other in 1950 and Plymouth went 1-0 up and as that was a popular song at the time they started to sing it as it was, or was close to, number 1 at the time following its release by the Weavers. Rovers equalised in the second half and sang the same song but replaced "Irene" with "Argyle." And was just a thing from there. In terms of song content I've never understood why we continued to sing it, but we do have a history of picking up large parts of our fan culture from rivals mocking us, like our own nickname. But is it THAT rare? I know Spurs do it with Yid army, which is perhaps even stranger. And in regards to Hudson-Odoi, I actually think it was Johnson who said it. Said at the beginning of the season was very close to a loan move until Sarri decided to keep him last minute. Having watched him in all honesty think he would have been leagues ahead of any other player in the Championship, and it amazes me Chelsea even considered loaning him to City, especially with very public interest of a loan from Redbull Leipzig in Germany.
  22. Your points are all right to be honest, except I kind of disagree with the Plymouth one. Considering they only sang it for a grand total of 45 minutes before we equalised and I believe went onto win the game. I wouldn't consider it stolen because it wasn't ever a club anthem. Did anyone see apparently City were supposed to get Hudson-Odoi but the deal fell through last minute. Would've pushed City to definite automatic promotion contenders imo
  23. Fair enough but the majority of my posts like that are from the fans on here like the 6 foot 4 of pure rage who call me scum and tell me to go on Gaschat. In all honesty, Gaschat's a bit dull.
  24. I only go to a couple of away games per season as I lack the time and energy to travel consistently to watch Rovers, I go to every home game, and I was at Gillingham, but believe what you want to believe I guess, don't want to argue on your forum.
  25. Because i'm not there and believe it or not I actually find this thread enjoyable, I've never had a problem with City fans, it's just banter. To be honest, a lot of the time I actually find this thread funnier and more enjoyable to read through than GasChat. It's actually fun to talk to City fans, well, minus the ones like you who use **** in every sentence or say they're 6 foot 4 of pure rage.
