Not sure how much truth is in this report but that definitely is one of the most Mark Ashton type rumours I’ve ever heard.

Might have left us being better going forward then sitting back but even if he hasn’t cracked into the Fulham first team he’s been there for nearly 5 years. He definitely would have improved in certain aspects of his game. Imo he’s the type of player that play-off chasing teams need.

Think he deserves a mention, Kalas didn’t look out of place at all, next season I think Pearson definitely offers him a reduced contract as I think he’ll be back to his best with a full pre season. Whether he takes the contract is another question entirely but I hope he does. Centrebacks like that certainly aren’t cheap.

Mehmeti definitely needs a pre season under his belt. Awareness isn’t the greatest causing turnovers in our own half sometimes. Can definitely become top class but he isn’t the whole package some people thought he was yet. 100% has the talent and technical ability tho

Agreed. Would much rather a sold out 28k stadium then a 80% 32-35 or what ever it would be. Even if there were more people having a sold out ground does something to an atmosphere

Good point, just went through it again and it seemed quite clear he was trying to send that message. And if so they are probably quite far down the line if he’s talking about why they are signing him instead of why they are looking at him. No point bringing up the sentimental part otherwise

Seeing as SL has been talking about selling for a little while now how much do you think the club sells for? With man United being sold for 7bil and Chelsea going for billions too it’s clear there will be a lot of money involved. But haven’t seen too much on championship club worth. A couple hundred million. More? Less?

Agree with your point about nahki not being utilised when we play wingers with him alone up top. But if we were to play a 41212 or 4132 etc in a central diamond we would have to be brilliant to make it work properly. I don’t think we have the ability in the middle to play without wingers tbh. I can’t remember playing a team that didn’t use wingers or at least left and right midfielders and doing it ourselves could go horribly. It might sound a bit mad but I think a 433 with a false nine could be something to look into. With the pace of our wingers to stretch defenders and a striker who drops into midfield we could have the best of both potentially. Could go very wrong but I’d be interested to see it played.

I agree about benarous, but I think if he were to come back and get minutes next seasons he’s a lot closer to OTC then he is to Alex. Thought he had a good time during his brief stint in the team but that was what 18 months ago. A lot of time having not played.

Whenever joe Bryan had a stormer, I remember it similarly to how I view AS7 now, not as technically gifted obvs. He’s one of those players who can glide with the ball at his feet, always looking up for a pass and has a killer cross on him. Would regard him as a bit of a set piece specialist as well. If experienced and disciplined championship players is what we want I think he’s perfect tbh.

Think buying a player like mehmeti, obvious quality who will only improve and trying to coach him into a more direct central position was the right move + relatively cheap in hindsight if we do it right.

Think people need to realise we can’t replace Scott. A like for like change not only would be very expensive, something I’d doubt we’d look into with our current recruitment plans, but also they’re isn’t many players available like that. and whatever technically gifted attacking midfielders who can score and are proven in the championship will either be young and looking towards the prem or prefer a Norwich/west brom etc.

I’d be inclined to agree except for Everton. If you take away Docoure, Pickford, Obama, and a couple others their team looks very championship. Watching them this season has been almost painful with their lack of attacking quality (reminds me of someone a couple seasons ago ?) and they looks so much worse then the rest of the prem. not saying they won’t do well but I think they might be a play-off contender rather then a title whitewash.

Imo, and I’d assume others, one of joeys best games was against Man Utd. Looked just as good as the prem opposition. Obviously he started LM that game in a flat 4-4-2 but if you watch a YouTube video on “the coaches voices” channel where LJ explains his tactics he specifically mentions that both LM and RM on that game we’re given specific jobs to press man utds fullbacks high, which is one of the reasons he kept pushing after winning the ball when he scored. Having him in front of pring competing with a younger bell and allowing mehmeti to play/compete with andi for the .10 works i think. That’s only if we use the same formation next season. I would take him in a heartbeat on the right money. And about NP not going back to old players he did it with both king and James so don’t think he’s got too much of a problem with it. If it suits him it suits him.
