  1. Agreed. Hoping he would turn them down because of it but seems highly unlikely.
  2. Did also play there in the academy. And from the sounds of it wasn’t treated exceptionally well. Might also play a factor.
  3. I think 25m guaranteed we would say yes to still. Whether that’s a lump some or 20m + 5m in guaranteed add ons. Could easily see the add ons Bournemouth are willing to add would be based on their survival next year and not guaranteed. Also the further we get to the start of the season/end of the window the more we would want I think.
  4. Their point is, if we got the offer we won’t immediately drop everything and accept it straight away. there’s no point to it. Much smarter to let it sit temporarily to see if other clubs (spurs/Brighton) who have more funds put their money where their mouth is. If they don’t, we will probably then accept it and it’s up to Alex if Bournemouth is where he wants to go. But unless it was a release clause which it clearly isn’t accepting the first bid to come in immediately just because it matches a number the club stated 6 months ago is unlikely as it is illogical.
  5. Agreed, with knight most likely joining and the other deals we have already made the squad looks so much better already. When benarous and Atkinson return from injury we can almost field two elevens that both look like a decent championship side. Put them all in one squad with a good start and hopefully not as many injuries as this season and who knows what could happen. Hope he stays to help our push for playoffs but with the amount of interest I’d be surprised. Bournemouth would be the best move money wise imo but I think Brighton would be perfect for his development.
  6. Fair enough, the start of the window was a little crazy. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t to be fair ?
  7. I think Cornick did have a rough entrance into the team a little, but I still rate him highly. Much like Andi, he’s very fit, can press for 90mins and is decent on the ball and in front of goal. Personally I think his passing could be improved but that’s nitpicking. Will be a very good squad player who I can see being utilised off the bench to see out games with his relentless pressing and pace which will help on the counter if we are defending for long periods. Someone teams need, but might not think is the most useful because they aren’t a “maverick” as Nige puts it.
  8. Pointless article, no new information. Same story with different words.
  9. One of Alex’s greatest attributes imo, is that he’s comfortable on and off the ball at any position in the midfield. Very rare to find that level of skill and game intelligence in someone of his age. He’s unique in the fluidity of his play that takes experience to master yet comes to him seemingly naturally. Think some thought he was leaving right out the gates as we had made so much movements early this window. Not only was the prem window not open at that point, but we made those signings because the staff knew some of what they have wanted to bring in for months due to our smaller squad. Once pre season starts for those prem teams and they gage where they need to strengthen more then I think we’ll see bids come in.
  10. When was the last time we quoted the £25m, hasn’t it been a couple months? With the hype around him and the amount of midfield talent moving this summer we could have upped our valuation just without making it public. The £25m value does seem quite low when you take into account how much Webster was sold for but different times I suppose pre Covid and all that.
  11. Don’t the reliability put this hasn’t been posted yet: https://twitter.com/westhamxtra/status/1674157745598087169?s=46&t=GpupFNkplyLjAB3_pw6gMw
  12. Surely you can’t be saying, because he’s signing for a team which will give him more immediate minutes(Helping him solidify his place in the England team for the 2024 Euros) over another who already have arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world he shouldn’t be playing for England? Because if that is what your saying, you my friend have lost the plot.
  13. Just my opinion, but I don’t see us swapping formation back any time soon, unless injuries or other events require it. I think a lot of our success towards the latter patch of last season was due to our wing play. Don’t see why we would discount that this season unless nige feels the players we have signed massively changes things. And with all 3 of our current signings having major competition for places I don’t see that being likely. Am really liking how our squad is shaping up so far though. Idk about you lot but it feels like we are flying under the radar a little bit and will put up more of a challenge then the rest of the league think we will next season. If that’s enough for top 6 who knows but I’m quite positive atm.
  14. I know it happens with every club but I don’t understand people wanting to boo a player in Joes position. Just because he used to play for us doesn’t mean he has an obligation to resign for us when we want him. No, he’ll do what anyone would do in his position, take what’s best for him. Joey is one of the best players to have ever come out of our academy, and had a brilliant senior tenure at the club. I won’t be booing him and neither should any logical person imo.
  15. Implying it’ll be closer to 20m suggest there would be a 2-3 mil difference. Don’t see how that makes one a fair price and one ridiculous.
  16. Thinks it’s just a wait and see game. These articles saying teams are interested are all well and good, but I’d expect any prem team with a semi competent scouting department to be interested in Scott. Depends on what the managers looking for, and what the clubs have at their disposal. Waiting till an actual bid comes in and we’ll see if he’s worth the valuation we have put on him.
  17. Also, one of Scotts best game this season, at least imo, was against Man City. Granted Man City played a weaker team, but a weaker Man City team is still a top top team. And Scott proved he can dance around players in the prem just as well as he can in the championship. Speaks a lot to his raw ability and ceiling. If and when teams do come in for him, the price tag is for the player they get once he mixes with the better quality players surrounding him and theoretically with training from better coaches.
  18. Don’t understand why those stats are relevant for a defensive midfielder, in a team that utilises the pace of their wingers in behind for attacks. Feel like I’ve said this a million times,a really simple concept to understand.
  19. Very interesting if what was reported about his agent is true. Indicates they feel he can step right into the top of the game already, not needing the West Ham/wolves stepping stone which it would clearly be. To be fair if he goes to a team in Europe and plays as good as he has for us, that’s when teams will start showing that ridiculous money for him. Personally, would prefer for him to stay in England as it’ll be easy to track his career, but as long as a club meets our valuation I think he’s good enough to perform anywhere.
  20. Are those sponsorship/retail numbers correct? Ik historically Ipswich are bigger than us but that seems like a very big margin to me. (Admittedly not clued into the finances of football especially unrelated to transfers) Edit: Thought it was talking about Ipswich not Stoke, my bad.
  21. Think Jason Knight currently, seems like a more defensive version of Andi. Not necessarily one of the best in the league at any one thing (semenyo -pace&power, scotty beating a man/chance creation) but very good all around. As the stats shown by @Davefevs suggest. Can understand why people at first might turn their noses up, might not be the flashiest or the most intriguing player to watch, but not every player can be. Seems very adept in the press, composed, passes well and good tackling. Imo all of what I want from a central midfielder. Seems that some forget he’s also only 21 as well, if we do end up spending 2m or around there on him, it’s clear that he’s favoured by Pearson because he has a plan for him. Might see him as a Korey smith type, hassles opponents and doesn’t give them space. Or a Josh Brownhill, deep chance creation etc. A Pearson transfer hasn’t let me down yet, except Wilson (injuries most likely ruined his city career), so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  22. Would think a maximum of 2 more come in if Scott does go. (Excluding Jason Knight) Would be stupid to spend £25m on players after the signings already made this summer, which would add 25m worth of wages as well. Like others have said could see a keeper coming in as atm that seems the only position where their isn’t clear competition, unless HWR is much further along in his progression then assumed. Might see another midfielder as well depending on how much Nige and his team want/think King will feature this season. Don’t think their will be anymore then that tho, maybe a loan CB with Atkinson injured but I doubt it.
  23. I assume if we don’t sell, he will sign a new contract with this kind of clause.
