  1. You said making predictions was "complete guesswork". You are now saying a hell of a lot of stuff that contradicts your post. You are now saying anyone can make an educated guess with some common sense, you are also saying some clubs will have an advantage and it doesn't guarantee anything. Where has anyone said the relegated clubs (or any other club) are guaranteed to finish top, middle or bottom? Some people do their homework and take a lot of things into consideration and form an opinion, and then simply make an educated guess of where they would finish, there are no guarantees, there are no tried and trusted formulas, just people with a view on the teams/clubs and say where they thing they will finish. If you really are against someone having an opinion about what positions they think teams will finish, then just don't bother to read or comment on it. Just take your educated thoughts and think to yourself "this isn't for me, I'll ignore that thread/post". A very simple and easy thing to do, and it will stop you getting any grief in the replies too, not that you would just say something for a reaction in the first place....
  2. How so? Surely it is an educated guess rather than complete guesswork. I am assuming you haven't "completely guessed" anywhere on this forum whatsoever about the coming season for us then? You don't think we will do ok, really well, relegated, bottom half, mid table, top half, playoffs? If it is all complete guesswork, do you fancy a couple of bets with me? Let's see who finishes highest, I'll guess for myself and have guessed Leicester and you can have QPR, I'll also have a complete guess at Man City and you can have Bournemouth. Let's say a grand on each and loser pays it to charity of their choice? I mean it's only guesswork isn't it.
  3. Unless this is a whoosh, it looks like Ashton Gate Red to me.
  4. We will find out soon enough: https://news.sky.com/story/jordan-hendersons-new-saudi-arabian-club-turns-rainbow-armband-photo-black-and-white-12928707
  5. Wolves are facing a very challenging summer and head coach Julen Lopetegui’s future has been plunged into doubt as the club move to balance the books. Lopetegui is frustrated after he was informed that the club’s transfer budget would be severely restricted ahead of his first full season in the Premier League. Wolves have raised almost £90 million in player sales since the end of last season but are unable to spend at all unless further departures are made. It has raised huge concerns among supporters, with many of them fearing a relegation battle under an ambitious manager whose hands are tied behind his back. Here, Telegraph Sport looks at the key issues at Molineux. Advertisement How bad are Wolves’ finances? There is no point in concealing the fact that Wolves have got themselves into a mess. After spending huge amounts of money in the past four transfer windows (including £175 million last season), it has now caught up with them. Too many poor signings have been made, such as Goncalo Guedes and Fabio Silva, while other big buys including Matheus Nunes and Matheus Cunha have struggled to consistently impress. Matheus Cunha is one of several players who have struggled to impress at Wolves CREDIT: Getty Images/Jack Thomas The problems have arisen as Wolves are now in the third financial year of a three-year cycle to satisfy the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (previously known as financial fair play). In the first year of that cycle, Wolves announced losses of £45 million in February: estimated losses for the second year are between £60-70 million so the total amount will be over £115 million, which exceeds the permitted £105 million allowed by the Premier League. That places huge pressure on Wolves to make a profit over the next 12 months, with the accounting year starting in June. Will more players have to be sold until Wolves can make any new signings? It is inevitable that further sales are needed, despite the exits of captain Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Conor Coady, Raúl Jiménez and Ryan Giles. Daniel Podence and Jonny Castro Otto appear the most likely contenders to leave next, though both players are unlikely to fetch much above £10 million. Advertisement Advertisement : 30 sec Lopetegui’s No 1 target this summer is Bristol City’s Alex Scott, although the club failed with a second offer of £20 million plus add-ons this month. Negotiations between the two clubs were amicable and professional, and there was even a sense at Wolves that a deal could be done – until now. At the moment, that move is on ice until Wolves can clear more players and wages off the books. The same applies to the club’s bid to sign West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell. Are the Wolves owners still committed and should supporters be worried about the future? Wolves insist the club are not for sale and Fosun, the Chinese conglomerate that owns them, remains fully committed. This year alone it has invested £80 million to assist cash-flow and basically keep the club running. Quite simply, Wolves have applied the brakes in order to try to avoid breaching financial regulations. Manchester City and Everton were both charged by the Premier League last season and that has struck fear into boardrooms up and down the country. There is uncertainty over what punishment either club could receive if found guilty, so Wolves are adopting a “worst-case scenario” stance of serious sanctions including points deductions. It means that Wolves are perhaps risking their short-term future, but they want to run the club properly and within the rules. Leicester City took similar action last summer and it ultimately ended in relegation, so that is the fear among many Wolves supporters. Is Julen Lopetegui going to walk? Julen Lopetegui does not believe he has the squad to compete in the Premier League CREDIT: Getty Images/Jack Thomas He is not happy, and clearly does not believe the current squad is good enough for the Premier League. This is an awkward moment where Wolves have possibly the most decorated manager in their history but are unable to back him properly. Lopetegui conducted another interview this week in which he laid bare his frustrations. He insisted the club had moved on to their plan B, but cannot manage that now either. After leading the club to safety last season – one of the most underrated achievements of the campaign – he was expecting to further stamp his imprint on the squad this summer. Communication has been a big problem at the club over these past few months, from ownership to the financial and football department. Perhaps the financial problems have not been explained adequately enough to key personnel. While Lopetegui is unquestionably right to be annoyed, it has to be pointed out that he does have previous. At his former clubs there have often been clashes with employers. At Sevilla he had to accept a strict economic policy and wage structure. The best managers are usually difficult and challenging to work with, and this is perhaps another example. Wolves do not expect him to walk away and want to work together to come through this mini-crisis. It also has to be made clear that the Wolves squad is a very decent one at this level, particularly for the starting XI. Nunes, Max Kilman (who is expected to reject Napoli and stay), Mario Lemina, Craig Dawson and Joao Gomes would be starters in most Premier League teams. Maybe the situation is not as bad as Lopetegui fears, though it is the lack of strength in depth that is his main concern.
  6. He certainly doesn't seem stupid when it comes to business, but Wrexham and its fans doesn't seem to wonder if he is in it for the money and money only. They could sell in a few years and Wrexham could find themselves on a slipper slope after all the overspending and hype? Only a quick google but interesting article about Reynolds wealth and interests: https://www.investopedia.com/ryan-reynolds-net-worth-7111408
  7. I don't think he had any chance whatsoever to stay on his feet tbh, even if he did touch the ball.
  8. It's always wise to base your upcoming season on preseason friendlies. God knows what they will think if we don't get a better result than them in our friendly game at Portsmouth, we won't hear the end of them coming for us again.
  9. I'm gonna go all out and say 6th with my heart, but 8-10th with my head. I think we are in the best position as a club for years (not too hard). Getting close to the start of the season it feels like we are where we want to be with the players in early and overall squad (even if Scott goes). The youngsters have a Championship season under their belt and a lot more experience, as a club we all seem to be pulling in the same direction and more cohesive, some great additions to the squad and more/better competition for places. A great blend of experience and hungry youngsters trying to prove themselves. Mehmeti and Cornick hopefully are now more on board with the system(s) we will play, and a preseason under their belts. I am pretty positive and would be disappointed if we are not in the top 10, and with a bit of luck and a few less injuries here and there then we could push for the top 6. An extra couple of wins last season would have had us top 10, and I don't see why we cannot achieve that as a minimum. Can we get another 10-12 points, maybe it is too much to ask, but I honestly don't think it is unachievable. Plus we may be in the position to spend and strengthen in January.
  10. That's only because the Gash are amazing.....
  11. Exactly - it's a different market to top 6. If we finish in top 2 (however unlikely that will be) you won't get paid out on that market.
  12. 5/1 best price with Sky, not sure where 13/2 has came from as we've never been that price? https://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/top-6-finish
  13. Thinly veiled "I carry €50 notes"
  14. What about people who need to really look after what they spend. It will be guaranteed that some people will spend more than they anticipated to by going cashless because they simply won't stay on top of what they are spending, and then could easily get into debt. If you go out with x amount that you can/are willing to spend and it's in cash then you at least know where you stand and can control it better. Paying by card just isn't the same when it comes to restricting your spending for many people. I definitely do get why businesses prefer contactless though, just wish the ones who are one way or the other would be a bit more flexible and maybe even have the "we prefer contactless or cash" type sign to encourage more people to what the business wants.
  15. So let's say we play a Championship side, how many of our starting 11 will we play, and for how long? What systems, styles, change in plays will we practice? How physical will the game be up against an actual Championship game? How many of their starting 11 will the opposition start with, or will it be their under 21s etc, how serious will they take it? What other teams around us are consistently playing teams at our level or above? If it was the huge majority then I may change my stance, but as it generally isn't then I'll happily assume Pearson and the people in charge of all of these other teams know what they are doing, and what they want to achieve in pre-season friendlies. I think it is a bit too simplistic to just want to player higher placed teams and expect it to end up being more to our level, and prepare us better for the start of the season. I think we have to trust the ones in charge on this.
  16. I know the stats, it's a crime that is ridiculously hard to prove, that doesn't mean every accusation and accused is guilty. Where have people got in their heads that rape happens when a woman is unconscious? That is the first time I have ever heard that, but you know what we are all thinking? What a bizarre statement. The trouble here is because it hard to prove you have actually made your mind up he is DEFINITELY guilty. My point was if anyone accused you of rape, would you be happy for everyone to label you a rapist and think you are guilty, and maybe give you a hiding in the street because they think so, like you want him to be 'snapped'?
  17. Ah right, you know he was guilty as an actual fact? If you were accused of rape and got a not guilty in court (maybe because you never did it), would you be happy for everyone to think you were guilty and then to never work again (or even someone come and say 'snap' you), lose your livelihood and maybe never work again?
  18. That only counts if you want to bother to take that into consideration. I'm sure if anyone accused @Andy082005 or anyone he knows of rape, then he would happily not bother with any trial, and just ask to go straight to jail and do a few years because he would obviously be guilty of the crime.
  19. Yeah but that's near enough the same - using the standard Gas logic.
  20. I remember Newcastle conceding 6 against Orient in a pre-season in 2009, what difference does it make to the season ahead? I am not suggesting we are going to do anything like what Newcastle done that season (a meagre 102 points wasn't it) but your post means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.
  21. Is that a question? When you were doing everything possible to stick up for your clubs lack of morals, you asked loads of questions to try and deflect away from the absolute shit show that your owner and Manager have happily created. I therefore mistakenly (iyo) thought you were asking actual questions because they seemed genuine. I replied to your post at the time, even mentioning the load of questions you asked. You never replied saying your questions were rhetorical which would've been quite simple to do, then again you never replied as my post made yours look extremely stupid. I signed it off with the following which sums it up quite nicely if I do say so myself: Family club my arse. The last couple of seasons will have you down as one of the most despised clubs in the UK. Your club deserves Barton and Barton deserves your club.
  22. You just ended this post with a question mark which to me (bizarrely) it looks like the question mark is asking a question. I also thought (bizarrely) with all of the question marks in your post the other day that you would expect your questions to be answered, you know, because you were actually asking a load of questions. I never knew my English was bad enough to see a question mark, but the person who used it wasn't actually asking a question.
  23. But you asked a load of hypotheticals yourself earlier, you asked what if it was a scammer who caused heartbreak (what was the scam, how much, who was the victim), extra punishment for assaults on men (what are the assaults you talk of), you asked about certain age groups (what age groups), you asked about drink drivers and drug users (what were the circumstances)? A lot of hypotheticals as you never gave any actual examples, but you expected people to answer them, yet refuse to answer any you get asked?
