  1. Years ago when I went camping we saw a lot of drunks tripping over guy ropes, easily done. Best to stay sober at the Mem.
  2. As said before these sorts of announcements are there to put a positive spin on things when the results are not going well.
  3. I like watching rugby but probably good that the Bears are not at home the weekend before the Man City game.
  4. Cashley was a fixture in the team but my Dad always thought he was a bit flaky. We saw him let a gentle back pass through his legs once, he turned and ran after it just in time!
  5. I keep writing serious comments on this thread and then deleting them as the comedy value is so high. Let's take the point above about health and safety. If they have test events they will need a full crowd to make that work. How are they going to fill the ground?
  6. I didn't realise how bad JBs history is until I just checked wiki. He would surely be unemployable at a school or college with his history so how does he fit in at a football club?
  7. That's going to be one huge scarf, wouldn't want to be wearing that in August or May when it is 25 degC. Velcro is the answer to changing team sections. Can't believe I am even suggesting a practical solution to this. Scrub the above, never buy one!
  8. A bit off topic but the success of the penalty shows that these days you need to put some proper pace on the ball as well as be accurate. If that had been a tame effort the keeper would have saved it. Going for deception is becoming a 50/50 bet. Better than a lot of world cup pens we saw, nice one Nahki.
  9. 'Promotion chasing Bristol Rovers' are in a scrap for sure. That last goal just shows how a game can go in that division. I suspect teams will play on their lack of confidence in defence, lots of long balls and crosses to target men. Not pretty but effective. Will the loanees have the fight in them or will they have one eye on their summer holidays and a different plan for next season? It needs a calm head to lead and I am not sure they have that. We were in a similar position only a few weeks ago but with a manager who has vast experience and academy players who feel part of the club.
  10. If you were a sheep and saw these you would be very disappointed at what your wool was used for.
  11. Looks like Joey's quote from George Orwell inspired his team to dystopian defending. Was mentioning 1984 a reference to when they last won?
  12. That is a packed weekend. My Mum, or as they say, me Mam, is from Gateshead. There are some similarities with Bristol I think, a key river, iconic bridges, strong culture and big nightlife. I would have loved to have heard the language used when she met my Dad with his rural Wiltshire accent in the early 50s. Hope everyone travels safe and we bring back the 3 points of course.
  13. Imagine you are off abroad, you are in seat 1B. In a fantasy world, which sports stars would you want sat next to you in 1A and 1C?
  14. Seems happier since Ronaldo left? Maybe just a coincidence. I did wonder if his other activities were affecting his form, hopefully not. A fine role model outside the game and I wish him all the success.
  15. In my experience business managers don't like to be open about major plans because then they can hide their failures, it isn't about confidentiality.
  16. If Attendance A > 7000 then Capacity C = 25000
  17. One voice of realism in there:- 'what is Marvin supposed to do? Are you suggesting he should spend taxpayers money to build us a stadium when we are owned by a multi millionaire banker? Most of those taxpayers have no interest in football and of those that do more than half will support City. ' There seems to be a number of them that have a sense of entitlement. Other clubs have something, so they must have it too. Life isn't like that. It never has been, but at this time of struggling public services and private finance there is no way that a football club is going to get something for nothing. In my opinion they should forget trying to compare themselves with City. Improve their ground a stand at a time. There isn't a supporter base for anything grander, dreaming of a packed 30,000 new stadium in the Championship is going to fall short on every level.
  18. Found ourselves on an emergency descent once, the auto navigation had failed to follow altitude set and the pilots needed to take unannounced avoiding action. Interesting, just like the movies! Safe journeys everyone including those on the pongolino trains.??
  19. Hi all, just a bit of info about Sky red button. I am fairly sure that the content for that comes down your internet connection, not over the dish. This means that your picture quality or availability of it depends on how good your broadband is, whether someone else in your house might be streaming etc. It explains why the main game looks great but the red button games take a while to load and can buffer sometimes. If you search for info on this Sky do say that red button content needs an active connection to the internet.
  20. Watched everything up to just before the goal, looked away for 1 minute.....can't rewind on the red button ?. Promise to look away more often in the 2nd half.
  21. Bristol City 3 (pen 36', pen 38', pen 40') Wigan 0 Match abandoned after 42 mins due to crowd hysteria.
