  1. Totally agree with what he has said. But why didn't we release a statement when this happened?
  2. In open play Tommy had an xG of 6.4 and he scored 5. So really not sure where you're getting those 5-6 goals from.
  3. Pretty sure that shirt was around 2000/2001.
  4. So all this stuff you're saying Manning has taught him yet Tommy has a poorer return from open play this season than last season.
  5. Pressing was a huge strength of Tommy before Manning arrived so it was always likely he'd get even better at it as he ages. And considering we switched from a press to a block then I'm not sure how much credit can be given to LM for Tommys pressing abilities.
  6. So the PL said to 777 they had to come up with 100 million for the new stadium, 777 then go out and find a lender for that rather than providing the money themselves in the hope that will satisfy the PL.
  7. Not sure what the big deal is. 20 quid for travel and a ticket to watch them in a final seems a bargain.
  8. Because they want to do it the 'pure' way. The only premier league experience we now have is Wells and I'd say he's on the list of players we'd like to dispose of too.
  9. We may consider that we've made him a terrific offer by our standards but that offer is probably well less than what he can get elsewhere. That's the reality here. Our only advantage is Tommy being a fan and his family living close by. But would you accept 5-10k a week less just for those things?
  10. Last season I said Arsenal bottled it which many disagreed with. But in my opinion they did. This season the same cannot be said. They've just been outdone by a better team. Fair play to them for taking that step forward. The only criticism I have is that they lost the title by playing for a draw at the Etihad. They knew City had those games in hand so that was baffling.
  11. Even with bringing Twine in, we struggled to provide Conway with chances. Tommy can't score chances if he's not provided with them. I've said this lots of times but if you put him in a team like Coventry then he scores 15-20 easily. Right now Tommy can potentially move to a lower premier league club or a top 6 side or go north to Scotland and get a huge pay rise. I'm not entirely sure those options would be there in 12 months time if us and Tommy have another similar season. I think Tommy has done the smart thing already for himself by giving himself time to assess all of these options. We all would love Tommy to stay but I think our hand is quite weak at this point.
  12. I think you're looking at this through the lens of what's best for us. At this current moment if you're Tommy Conway I'm not sure you'd think that staying here would be the best route to get to the top of the game. Why would you want to stay here to prove to the manager you're the main striker? When he could move easily to a top 6 team and earn more and have a bigger chance of getting to the premier league? Tommy is at the very best stagnating here because we are stagnating.
  13. Would we? Manning made a lot about Conway changing the way he plays to fit the way Manning wants to play. Would Tommy consider that the best thing for himself? Or would he rather play for a team that plays to his strengths? A team that actually provides him with chances? Tommy is more than capable of getting 20. I'm not sure we are capable of providing him with 20 goals tho. If you're Tommy Conway, would you be rushing to sign a contract when we've been saying for months we want to sign another striker? Knowing we only play with one striker? The reality is Tommy could sign a new contract and then find himself on the bench.
  14. Don't pretend that you wouldn't want Liverpool to lose if it meant them losing would see Everton get relegated.
  15. Putting aside the charges cos nothings been proven and Man City are adamant they have evidence that prove their innocence, whats the issue? Their owners invested 2 billion? Lansdown has sunk 200 million in to us which is why we are now a Championship team with a modern stadium and training facilities. Yes Man City is on a much bigger scale but they've spent the money well and have got value for money due to their successes. 2 billion to be on the verge of doing something no other English team has done before. When their owners eventually sell then they'll easily double their money. Chelsea are proof that money doesn't = success.
  16. All comes back to Man City being serial winners and knowing how to win league titles. They got wrote off on here a few months ago.
  17. "It's obviously not ideal for me. Tommy's got a decision to make,"
  18. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't support Liam and the team!
  19. You said it without saying it I don't think he did. Just about needing a number 10.
  20. Mebude was brought in with the intention of purchasing him in the summer. So I think as that didn't work out we're just looking for a replacement for him.
  21. Yes it was that line that made me wince a little. I've said it before but I think if you put Conway in a team like Coventry who create lots of chances then he scores 15-20 goals a season.
  22. I don't think LJ was a yes man either. I think the difference is that Pearson was never really the boards choice. He was a means to an ends. However both Manning and LJ was the boards choice. The choosen ones and I think that gives them far greater power than Pearson had. Kinda like "you choose me, now you must back me or you'll make yourself look bigger idiots" I always remember LJ having the belief that we were just one signing away from cracking the code. I kind of get similar vibes now.
  23. To me it came accross as Manning was a bit annoyed about the situation. If you want to convince a player to sign a new contract then I'm not sure criticising them on the radio is the best way to go about that. I think most of us as fans understand tbe position Tommy is in. Would I be jumping to sign a contract for a manager that doesn't play to my strengths? I don't think so. I think Tommy is currently doing the right thing for Tommy and that's fine. It's up to us if we wish to give him time to consider his options or if we take the decision to sell. Oxford invested a lot in Manning in the summer, give him everyone he wanted and just a few months later he jumps ship. I'm not sure he's someone that should be taking the moral high ground on loyalty. I think he would have ended up at Swansea but I do think he owed it to Oxford to pay back their loyalty.
