It’s difficult to prove - but the impression I get is that the desired consumer is families who are going to spend in concessions, spend in the club shop and not cause any bother.

Groups of lads who drink in the surrounding pubs, don’t wear official merch and may require more stringent stewarding aren’t nearly as desirable.

Could it just be the club has an interest in all it's season ticket paying fans? We don't exactly have the massive 20 year waiting lists of certain clubs, so kicking people out of seats they have had for years with their mates still has to be carefully considered.....

I like suggestion number 2, and I'd like to add one...

If a substiture strolls off because his side are leading (or for any time wasting reason)

The ref can make the entering sub wait for as long as he feel the player leaving the field has wasted.

    Then he waves him on.

There would be no buggering around then, I can assure you.

I don't know why the game has to be stopped for a sub. Ice hockey has it right.

Play on, the replacement can't enter the field of play until the subbed player is deemed to have left it by the 4th official.

Meanwhile everybody gets to watch what they have paid for, football - not the slow walk of doom...

  3. Though frustrating to lose, there are a small number of players over the years that you come to realize are too good for us and we can't hang on to. Andy Cole, Bob Taylor, Shaun Goater, Josh Brownhill all examples where they were bound to end up on a bigger stage - soon to be joined by Alex Scott. I don't like it but get it.

What really boils my piss is the players we lose for nothing with obvious talent that we never utilised.

And as an aside.... Fancy having Danny Rose on loan for 6 months as an unused winger in a team desperately missing anyone who could play left back....

Nicky Hunt was in a world of problems, none football related, when he was with us - wasn't he suffering from some serious MH issues? I think we can give him a pass.

The sad thing about that game at Leeds was that someone did give him a pass.

It rolled under his foot for a throw in.

  5. It is pretty savage of City to be giving players these negative pay rises during the cost of living crisis.

There has to be a real risk the players follow the nurses, train drivers, border forces etc and go out on strike.

Oh, hang on a minute, I get it now....

  6. I hope they have been doing their homework for Millwall on the training ground over the last few days. For example, getting in the builders and giving them a free reign to batter our players with hobnail boots, spades and pickaxe handles. On and off the ball. Maybe recruit the partially sighted foreman to ref too.

  7. Before the break, Scott was the most fouled player in all 4 leagues.

If he gives a bit back then he gets my admiration. Rather have that than a nice guy who goes missing.

He is a fantastic player. So I agree with the original poster he shouldn't be playing for us.

  8. I don't go to football for the thrill of carefully considered decisions drawing on all the evidence available, assessed in a measured and balanced manner.

I go to Weston Magistrates court for that.

Seems pretty pointless, especially if it means in the Stadium. Horse racing is rife with it,

Horse racing? Don't they test the horses??? Ban them for life and send them to the glue factory. Cheating nags.
