  1. Yes that was last season when he played there against Coventry. Thought we showed improvement today when we switched to a back 4 in the second half today
  2. Worked very well against Coventry and the highly rated Victor Gyorkeres(spelling might be out)
  3. Andy King has done a job at CB and he could have played in the middle of Tanner and Roberts. McCrorie RWB and then Sykes in an advanced position. I’d of had Knight back in the midfield two with one of James or Williams
  4. Nope I haven’t seen a replay so that’s not what I’m saying. The OP thought it was a pen from his view and the ref agreed so that’s the most important thing. When I’ve had a chance to see it again I’ll let you know what I think
  5. Lacked any positivity with the ball first half from the wing back position but I thought he showed improvement in the second half in his more usual advanced position. Certainly rather see him in the side than not though.
  6. The ref agreed with you and that’s good enough for me. And let’s be honest if Huddersfield hadn’t spent so much time feigning injury and trying to break up the play then the game would have already finished. For that reason I have no sympathy for them
  7. Was saying this myself earlier, we’ve seen some recent improvement with Knight dropped back into the midfield 2 and then today he’s pushed forwards again and like you say James and Williams are too slow in possession. We looked better changing to a back 4 at half time and that certainly brought Sykes into the game as he looked disinterested in the first half I thought. I’ve been critical of Mehmeti but he’s been lively lately and he should have started allowing Knight to drop back. But the back 3 certainly didn’t work today and maybe that was because of the personnel available. would still love to see Nakhi and Tommy together but doesn’t look like that will happen again. Thought the ref was pretty good today
  8. Yes I think his contribution has been more than people realise. I think Nakhi and Andy King have had a very positive impact on the careers of our younger players that have already left us and those that still remain.
  9. Remember it well, wouldn’t mind some entertainment like that tonight
  10. I do tend to agree that Yates reaction was over the top. However if Maddison had been sent off then he could only have himself to blame. He was already on a yellow card and it is clear to see what he has done to Yates. VAR decided not to advise the referee to review the incident but if they had I’m pretty sure Maddison would of walked and he’d of only had himself to blame
  11. Stick an A&E consultant in there to judge if the level of rolling around or clutching their face would be justified compared to the minimal contact made
  12. That was Fabio Silva, spent more time on the floor rolling around than on his feet. If I was the father of these players I would have to tell them how embarrassing their behaviour is
  13. It is crazy, it makes it a win win for cheating. VAR will look for violent conduct and a potential red but when the check is completed and it was found to be an act of simulation there is no consequence for the cheat. That needs to be changed
  14. That was my thinking, I’m sure VAR must have a look if a player falls so dramatically to the floor in those circumstances. So why can’t VAR inform the referee that there has been a blatant attempt to deceive the referee through simulation and the offending player should be carded
  15. But we haven’t shown that we can consistently break down and beat the poorer sides and in all honesty is that how we want to go on, scraping some poor wins and putting on the odd performance against the so called bigger sides in the league ? That really won’t get us in the play offs as it’s far too inconsistent. It’s all to risk averse and calculated and that’s why we aren’t breaking teams down. I remember vividly after the Swansea game which was a dire football match that LM said in his post match interview that he wanted to ensure we were still in the game at half time ! Well with all due respect to them we were playing Swansea not Man City. To me it feels a very conservative and negative approach and that is a very hard mindset to get out of when you then go one down or it’s goalless with a couple of minutes to go.
  16. I do think it’s about time there was some sort of punishment for this behaviour as it’s blatant cheating
  17. One of the many things that I despise about modern day football when players make such a meal out of minimal contact in an attempt to con the referee or break up the flow of the game. Looks absolutely ridiculous and even worse when they grab hold of an area of their body that hasn’t actually been touched.
  18. Agreed, and I think people would probably have a better appreciation of Harry Cornick if he was played in a two
  19. I’d suggest they are probably one of the most inappropriate teams to actually try it against in the division
  20. Do you really think that he would change anything preseason if we finished with five boring 1-0 Swansea style wins ? That would be seen as his style and beliefs being the right ones and bringing results. If that happened then buckle up for more of the same next season !
  21. I don’t necessarily disagree with you and would quite like to see Tommy and Nakhi up top together on Wednesday but from what we’ve seen so far, previous interviews etc. I don’t get the impression LM is of a mind to change what he’s doing and what he believes
  22. I don’t think Manning wants defeats on his record. He's still to convince many supporters that he’s the right man for the job so I don’t get the impression he’ll be trying new things and experimenting while he’s in the position he is.
  23. Yes that’s a shame, always looked solid when I’ve seen him. Good in the air and likes a tackle, his partnership with Campbell-Slowey was good
  24. You may have missed it but I asked earlier in the thread if the same challenge had happened in the Newcastle box in exactly the same way with Phillips about to shoot and Gordon making the same challenge would you give a penalty to West Ham ?
  25. Maybe it was just me, but I found it a pretty boring affair. As usual Sky hype it up as it’s two of their big 6 but I thought it was a dull affair
