I agree. I also think it was a pretty decent performance today. I do think though, there are a few managers who would have achieved a higher finish. I'd definitely keep him, but I'm not getting carried away just yet.

This is possibly a case of mistaken identity. If you are not the grammar pedant, I apologise.

For a grammar pedant, there is some "interesting" usage of the comma in that sentence.

The club should not have signed Simpson - whatever salary he was on it was too much
I would’ve preferred we had signed Tanner in the summer to compete with Vyner at RB. That wouldn’t have solved the issue either in hindsight. I wrote in the same article that I thought that Pearson would just try and get through this season cheaply.
Not just in hindsight. Many were sceptical about relying on a combination of Vyner and Simpson to cover the RHS of defence at the time if I recaill correctly. I certainly was. Poor judgment on NP's part?
QuoteI can't work out what style Pearson is trying to play
no, it’s not easy to work out, but constrained by who is available, in form, etc.
The football and the results have not been good
indeed, but I might argue some of this is due to constraints / circumstances in a broader context. We can happily have different views.
Do you not agree though that, despite those constraints, he probably should have done better with what he's had available?
See above ^^^^
My own view is that, on the evidence so far, as someone in charge of the match day eleven, whilst he's not been terrible, he's not been that good either, However, his contribution to the overall rebuild of the squad has been generally positive enough to justify giving him more time.
Incidentally, as an observation not a criticism, your posting style of responding point-by-point within the OP's text, makes it quite tricky to reply to you.

Cotts came into a pretty good squad, the likes of JET, Pack, Flint all signed by SOD. He improved it, no doubt. Then, having got us promoted...didn't.
Through no fault of his own, if strong rumours are to be believed.

Quite simple really,
If people are honest avoiding relegation was the major (if only) goal for this season - Done
The squad that remained to start this season was lacking depth, experience and was unbalanced. Compared to other previous managers there was very limited funds to balance the squad. Players (particularly Fammy) were allowed to run down their contract and leave for nothing.
Despite this crock of shit he inherited, he managed to blood quite a few player's who had previously been loaned out or were still playing U23 football. Not only blood but we now have a brilliant crop of young players we can all get behind and be proud of.
He quickly sorted the wheat from the chaff. Players that didn't train well enough or give even a reasonable amount during games. Palmer will probably never play for us again but Desilva is testament to the fact that the door is never slammed shut.
Listen to some of the players. Wells - wants to remain and mentioned continuing to enjoy working with the manager.
Semenyo- it was stated that NP was the main reason he wanted to stay.
Pring, stated he felt settled here for the first time because NP made him feel part of BCFC.
Many of the young players promoted to the first team stated the positive influence NP had.
Lots of youngsters now have valuable first team experience and will only get better.
The club is, in my honest opinion, in good hands and he must be allowed to continue.
I recently renewed my season ticket and I, for one, will be really pissed off if NP is not the manager come August.
COYR!!!
This is a great post. You've articulated brilliantly the reasons why, although I'm beginning to seriously doubt NP's ability as a tactician, I'm in favour of keeping him for at least another year.

I was really excited by Pearson's appointment, but have increasingly become concerned by his apparent (lack of) tactical nous. For the time being, I'm still in the 'keep him' camp because I can see that even though, in my view, he has been underperforming with regard to results, he has been doing some positive stuff (promoting youth, clearing deadwood, etc.) under difficult circumstances that will benefit us in the long run. However, although I'm not yet ready to join the bedwetters calling for him to be sacked, I am becoming increasingly sceptical.

Another quick question. Is it possible to watch games on Robins TV 'as live' the following day?

Everton are my 2nd team as well, as if supporting City wasn’t bad enough
I hope they go down. No issue with Everton, but (and you think you've got it bad) Burnley are my second team. Relatives from that neck of the woods, the first ever live game I attended was at Turf Moor when they beat Sunderland to gain promotion to the old first division in the early 1970s. Bristol City and Burnley. What did I do in my previous life to deserve this?

It does doesn’t it. Team in 4th vs team in 18th, 20 points between them.
You gonna tell me you think City’s squad is better?
no wonder you put everything negative down to Pearson. All clear now.
I'm by no means in the Pearson out camp, but I do doubt that Luton's squad should be 20 points better than ours.

We have dropped six points overall this season due to goals scored after 75 minutes. Here it is:
Home to Blackpool - 2 points
Away to Forest Green Rovers - meaning a penalty shoot out which we lost 6-5
Home to Luton - 2 points
Away to QPR + 2 points
Home to Fulham + 1 point
Away at Peterborough + 2 points
Home to Forest - 3 points
Away to Coventry - 1 point
Home to Blackburn - 2 points
Away to Hull - 0 points (both teams scored beyond 75 minutes)
Home to QPR - 1 point
Home to Millwall +2 points
Away to Swansea - 2 points
Home to Coventry - 2 points
Away to Blackburn + 2 points
Home to WBA - 0 points (both teams scored beyond 75 minutes)
What about beyond 85 minutes?

Looking at the replay, James caught on his heels when might have been able to intercept the pass and Pring (who otherwise played really well) loses the runner. Tough to take, but good performance and win would not have been undeserved.
Why do people feel the need to find a scapegoat when we concede? From where I was sitting, it was a really good bit of play by them.

But then you should probably deduct the QPR, Peterborough and Blackburn wins on that basis
And we'd still be close to the play offs.

I'm confused. I know they can't sell tickets, but what is to stop them giving tickets away?

Not going to go OTT on hyperbole, but that was a very strong debut. Solid, played a man who was quicker than him very intelligently and didn’t let much past. Very good today (as were both Atkinson and Klose)
Done himself no harm there.
Indeed, hyperbole wouldn't be appropriate, but he certainly didn't look at all out of place. Decent performance I thought.

The assets have been frozen, not confiscated. This is about preserving the status quo pending eventual legal proceedings so that justice can be done. Without the freezing of assets, there is a high probability that they will be moved out of the jurisdiction avoiding justice.

Presumably the officials would be quite junior for a game such as this? Obviously, with the outages, didn't see much, but, from what I did see, they looked a darned sight better than most of the dross the first team get lumbered with on a weekly basis.

I'm not seeing the doom and gloom. We actually look as though we have a plan and are organised enough to try and stick to it. I've doubted NP tactically, but the last three halves have been promising in my view.
