Does anyone really care about football at the moment? Really does feel irrelevant at the moment and has for a while. Maybe its just me i dunno!?

Not just you @Super, I haven't given a F for months. I did get a ticket for PNE, but more to enable meeting my normal match-going crowd that caring about what might happen on the pitch.

Close the whole thing down, I wouldn't give a toss.

    It’s ok

Just seems wrong that when cases are rising and highest since May it’s decided it’s ok to admit fans.  If it was safe why not 2500 not just 1000. I know clubs have to start somewhere just seems pressure is mounting to get fans in from clubs for there own survival and to save a bit of money.

I volunteer at a non league club in Manchester so know how much work is involved to get games on. We are limited to 300 and have to temp check each person, contract details and make sure each person or group is distanced even though they are outside. Cannot open indoor bar for enclosed space so outside cabin only available for food and drink.

I also believe it’s FA Vase this weekend and as it’s grassroots football i have been told everyone on the bench now has to wear a mask. Seems the rules are getting stricter.

Are you that desperate for players that anyone turning up with a pair of boots has a chance?

She's already a 00 agent so she wont be 007 as that IS James Bond

I thought prevoius uproar resulted from the fact that Bond had retired and the 007 designation was recycled to Lashana Lynch's character. Has that been scrapped?

There it is, against the best opposition player too.

From the Guardian OBO, shows the magnitude of his achievement:

We celebrate the Fab Four that won the Ashes in 2005, and quite right too. They took 748 Test wickets between them; Anderson, an unhappy understudy in that series, has 600 on his own. It’s a bonkers achievement.

Turns out he nipped home in between travelling from Southampton to Manchester, they all drove up separately but were only allowed to stop at a prearranged venue for lunch or at designated petrol stations.

If true, what a f-ing idiot. How hard is it to just follow the rules?

  6. These innovations all sound varying degrees of sh1te (from the Beeb). The dedicated celebration cam being the standout:

Fans on big screens and specific cameras to celebrate towards are some of the "broadcast enhancements" that will be used when the Premier League football season restarts this week.

A number of innovations, including tunnel cameras and audio from the coin toss, have been developed.

Some viewers will also be given the option of listening to games with or without artificial crowd noise.

Players will not hear the audio effects in the behind-closed-doors games.

For goal celebrations, players should maintain distance from one another and "where feasible, broadcasters will identify a celebration camera which players can head to after scoring".

  7. I must admit, I don't have a lot of patience for new bands. Very much stuck in a rut that I am perfectly content with. Thinking about it, the only stuff I have that could be considered anywhere recent would be Arctic Monkeys, Rifles and Florence + The Machine.

I realise I am likely missing out on a lot of decent music, and rely on a friend giving me a nudge as and when.

For those that do morning runs, do you mean get up and go, or just at any point in the morning?

I would like to just get up and go for a run but my body just doesn’t feel ready for it straight away.

Any tips of warm up/stretches for a get up and go run?

I used to do my runs 1st thing, and for 20 milers it would be as early as 3am. I didn't really bother with much in the way of stretching, but would take it steady to start with. To be honest, I didn't do much stretching after either: I really am not a good example of a runner.

I didn't particularly like running 1st thing, and generally would do better running in the evenings, but I could always find a reason to not go after work, so getting up and heading straight out means it got it out of the way.

So, bought some new trainers this week. First run yesterday, blisters!! Bugger.
Managed another run this morning in my old trainers, with cotton wool and plasters over the blisters. That worked well.

I’ve recently been doing regular 10k’s and stepped this up to an hour (12.5k) this morning.

I have a question though. An hour was just about all I could manage without taking on board a drink. I might’ve managed another 1-2k possibly.
What do people do for drinks on longer runs?
The only times I’ve ever done more than 13-14k have been on official events, so drinks are en route. I was thinking of sticking a bottle outside my house, doing 12k to finish at my house, take a drink and then try another few kms, but then there’s the mental aspect of “well, I’m home now and I gotta run off again!”
Do people take bottles with them, if so what’s the best method - one of those carrying ones with the handle, or a small bag/carrier? Any recommendations. I don’t really want to carry a bottle around but if I start doing longer distances I’ll need a solution.

Training in the Caribbean heat meant drink stops were vital. If solo I would opt for a 5 mile loop that passed a water fountain halfway and then have drinks in a cooler at home. If running with friends, we would divvy up points to drop off bottles. I have tried hydration belts and hand-carriers but didn't really like either as a solution.

Welcome James to the group - wear the number 22 with pride sir!

It's good to see more people joining, I only created the group on a whim to see who might be interested.

Just had a look at the route - its kinda as I imagined it would be but yikes what a run that would be.   I absolutely love it around Llanberis way.

Just had a ganders, looks horrific: most of my training was at sea level, with minimal if any elevation, hills always destroyed me. Amongst my various marathon friends around the globe, the Inca trail marathon is considered the hardest, with a special mention to the Great Wall of China one too.

It was flat as a pancake and perfect running conditions to be fair. Should have got sub 3:30 but cracked at 23 miles. 3:29.59 is my marathon goal. I don't think my body wants to push much more than that!

You still have to do the time, no need to make it sound any easier than it was.

Yeah, it is a mint area for cycling. Always try and get a ride in when I'm back. Just had a look at the Black Rat profile. Bit chewy that one!

Good stuff. I PB'd that day as well with 3:27 so we would have been pretty close to each other!

In regards to the future, I tend to take it year by year. Would love to do Pyongyang Marathon where you get chaparoned in and out of the country. Would be a hell of an experience but not sure I'd get the OK from the Mrs for that one...

Friend of mine (an American) did Pyongyang a few years go, he said it was all a bit surreal. And a nod to your sub 3h30. Great stuff. 3h55 was the fastest I ever got.
