Another good one is to interrupt them and say `Before we get on to the accident, can I speak to you about how Jesus brings hope to the world?`
They usually hang up.
Reminds of a way a friend of mine handled Jeovah's Witnesses once. He greeted them with "thank God you're here", invited them in (which probably put them off-guard anyway), hurried them through to the kitchen, pointed at the cooker and said "there it is, how long do you need to fix it?". They made their apologies and scarpered.

Last time I had one of those calls I went quiet for a moment and then softly said "it wasn't an accident". They got a bit confused and scared and rang off.
I had one a few months ago. I let them get to "when did the accident take place?" and replied with "next Tuesday, I know that's when she goes to collect her pension."

I have no idea, in all honesty with the amount of people on here I am interested in other peoples opinions and view points. I guess many still expect to walk into the shops and be served with no idea or understanding how the items get there and no thought to these places and staff. As mentioned it's very, very selfish out there.
Limiting the amount of people in shops at a given time would be a start, one in one out queuing system.
LImiting payments to contactless only, or have only one cash till.
Hand gel and wipes provided on entry and exit.
Maybe shops closing for an hour in the middle of the day to allow cleaning and restocking
Staff provided with gloves/handgel/masks
Just a few suggestions. Yours?
I'd throw in encouraging people to switch to online shopping where possible.
With the caveat that from my own experience of trying to get delivery slots with Tesco, the system is already stressed to the hilt, and any extension of service would require significant additional numbers of suitable trucks and qualified drivers.
This might free up space in physical stores to those who are unable to access online and assist with creating the necessary social distancing, etc.

Yesterday I didn't think Trump could be any more of a thunderc>nt.

Wage guarantee of up to 80% of wages, up to a max of £2500 per month, backdated to 1st March
That sounds a lot like socialism. Presumably all the small-government free-marketering types won't want to claim.

I don't mind anyone who speaks their mind (even if it does upset a few), but he really does seem to have the "it's all about me, and the rest can eff off" attitude. A very strange individual indeed.
Strike me he's a weapons-grade c>nt.

During the election campaign and until a few weeks back I had learned to despise Sunak's toadying manner. He has grown on me a little recently. Seems to be stepping up more than Johnson.

Missed part of Johnson's last bit: has he said pubs etc must close or should close?

Just announced the critical incident has been stood down. Good news I guess.

Tweet covering Trump's presser earlier. Scroll down for some priceless facial expressions of various reporters in response to OAN's question.

Time for today's presser. Tune in people.
Just announced that Italy's death toll is now higher than China's. On less than 50% of confirmed cases. Sad stuff.
Confirmed cases now 50% above China.

No he didn't, he said he thinks "we can turn the tide in 12 weeks" not that we should be through this in 12 weeks.
Apologies for misquote.
Edit: live feed text from Guardian:
He says he wants to talk today about the timescale for this.
I do think, looking at it all, that we can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks.

As much as I wanted this to be true, sadly it doesn't appear to be.

Johnson announced that we should be through this in 12 weeks.
His face when actually asked what that meant suggested he hadn't actually considered he would need actual facts to support his assertion.

Good to see the Queen has weighed in to say the world is facing a period of uncertainty. Personally I hadn't realised until she announced it.

Having just watched Trump's efforts an hour ago, I'll say this for Johnson, at least it seems he actually has an inkling of understanding of the issues. Low bar for comparison, I know.

Narcos and Narcos Mexico, both Netflix Originals and fantastic.
The Man in the High Castle, great historical sci-fi. Amazon Prime.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Netflix, darker brilliant comedy.
Dark Tourist. Netflix original travel show.
I noticed the other day that Channel 4 Player, or whatever it is called, is putting up all the seasons of Seinfeld. Certainly an acquired taste, and not everyone will find it funny, but for me a great show.

It is very hard to keep track, and yes people will find loop holes if they are desperate/determined enough. I know some shops try to keep the items off sale to allow just enough time for the person to leave the store, and hopefully someone else will grab the item before they return.
It’s all a game, just not a fun one.
I think as someone pointed out earlier, situations like we are presently facing show not only the very best but also the very worst in people.

They seem to care more about the money they've spent preparing the country and the financial impact rather than the health impacts.
Yeah you can argue that athletes have trained for years for this moment also being an argument for this to go ahead, but in wonder how many of them want to risk their health, or compete in empty venues.
Why this wasnt postponed / cancelled whilst there are bigger more important things to focus on says a lot about the IOC.
To me that would be a hollow argument when weighed against the obvious risk of sending thousands of athletes, officials, and support staff from across the globe to mingle in 1 confined area. (and not saying for one moment that that is your view Loco)
