  1. Quite interesting that the lower midtable clubs dragged into it for a few weeks have now pulled themselves clear. Just left with the same clubs that have struggled all season QPR aside. Wednesday have chosen a bad time to lose all form

    Indeed.

Sat here tonight, not that it really matters, I think he’s earned the chance to take us into the summer.  How big of me! 😉

To explain (all imho), I think there’s been enough from the turn in performances since Easter to think we aren’t gonna revert to the turgid stuff that for me was more the norm than the Southampton / FA Cup games / performances.

There are still some concerns, but if we carry on with the bit more intent shown, taking opportunities to win the ball high-up for example then I think Leicester, Blackburn and today are more representative of how we will play than Sunderland on reflection.  I think playing Knight deeper is more the causation than Twine which is correlation.  I felt Knight did an admirable job playing the role he did, but he’s much more effective for the team playing from a deeper role.

So, I’m out of “sack Manning” territory.

I don't really understand how you can go in or out of 'sack Manning'. Either he is the man for us or he isn't,  no matter how you rationalise the point.

He's not the first and he won't be the last. Proud Bristolian Bobby Reid jumped ship as soon as he could. Why on earth do we care about humans who don't give a shit about the collective at Bristol City? For me, anyone who has left Bristol City for greener pastures should be the arch-nemesis, yet we consistently lump them amongst our heroes - what bizarre pathology has befallen us where we gladly wish the success of former players at better clubs?

I'm friendly with Joe Jordan as it goes, and recently he spoke about the same thing. Pathetic adoration of what will be a footnote in the history of our proud club.

Legends are ignored, people who don't give a shit about the club are anointed as heroes.

    Pathetic.

So players who better themselves are the enemy? The ones we spit out aren't good enough to be heroes. So that leaves the bang average ones to be legends?

Seems a bit strange to me

Roberts looks far better than at the start of the season

He must have still been injured when he came on against Rotherham (I think). Turned from a guy who looked like he was running through treacle to a good Championship performer.

I agree with others that Max is more solid and Tanner has been most improved but both of those have come with greater experience. Also Mehmeti is doing very well which seems more down to Manning.

Tommy has gone backwards as has Sykes although that might be due to injury.

Here’s a thought…. When was the last truly meaningful league game we played? I really can’t think…. Wasn’t there a season under LJ where, in theory, we could have made the play-offs with a win and other results going our way? It’s just been season after season finished with dead-rubbers for the last couple of months. Not even a relegation battle!

Truly meaningful, Birmingham and Millwall this season. We went into them in good form and on the cusp of the play offs. Failed to put them away and drifted down the table.

I had a feeling at the time our season might pan out more successfully if we'd managed to crack the top six and prove we could play against the low block

  6. Didn't even hit his hand/arm let alone being in an unnatural position or deliberate, whatever the rule is these days. I'd rather not have got a wrong un in a totally meaningless midtable match tbh.

All those saying it's a clear handball let's come back to see your reaction when a decision like that those against us in a truly important game

We know it was much less really. 15k maybe? 14-14.5k?

That's a shite away following given the importance of the game for them

  8. Always been a problem at Ashton Gate

Ultimately its probably because we have a higher percentage of fans compared to other clubs where the result isn't the be all and end all.  Having a day out on the booze with mates or a nice family outing to 85 mins of football before the kids get bored.

The ref agreed with you and that’s good enough for me.

And let’s be honest if Huddersfield hadn’t spent so much time feigning injury and trying to break up the play then the game would have already finished.

For that reason I have no sympathy for them

How to say you don't think it was a penalty without saying it wasn't a penalty.

I'd be fuming if that was given against us, I'm not sure it even hit his hand !
