  1. I'm surprised by that. I assume that is selecting a favourable 8 games to suit the angle required. If he had that many decent periods (cherry picked), then pretty much the entire rest of the time must. Have been utter dog shite, because his record generally over 2.5 years was pretty uninspiring. His home record was generally abysmal & we rarely won back to back games. Facts.
  2. Yeah - so 1.375 pts per game, average. NP overall have 1.2 ppg average & I can't recall many/any periods where his average got much above that.
  3. I'm sure you'll be fine, if you are suitably respectful of being in a home area of the ground. I once had to get tickets in the home end at Southampton (not family stand) & got treated like Shite, grassed up to a steward & kicked out the ground, simply for not cheering when Southampton scored. Which was fair enough, I knew the chances when I took that option. It all depends who ends up being sat around you - but you should be OK in the family stand area. I doubt they'd permit any visible saouthampton shirts or scarfs though. You'll just have to accept you may get kicked out if anyone takes objection to you being there.
  4. Nobody knows what the results would have been under NP & it's a waste of time considering it - but I'm pretty certain that a stat comparison would back up the (pointless) claims. Very, very rarely did we win back to back games under NP - especially against 2 top six sides. Very rarely, if ever, did we win 3 out of 4 home games under NP. Without looking it up, I'd suspect that LM's PPG stats are already better than at any point under NP, over a similar number of games (of course that can changes ina game or 2 at this early stage) There is little to argue in that we seem to be creating more shots at goal than under NP & that can only help make games better to watch & help improve results. It's been a pretty decent start for LM & hope we continue to see improvement.
  5. Nobody has claimed it was racist. He quashed that suggestion immediately. It doesn't mean it wasn't vile or unacceptable.
  6. Can you provide us all with the transcript that you've obviously been privy to, of exactly what the Brentford fans abuse was - then we can all make our own mind up on whether there is an over reaction or not. It's not really fair if only you have seen it, which you obviously must have....
  7. So you don't agree - but you agree...?!
  8. That would explain it then my son is 9 so not got to that yet.
  9. Yeah, only to fun/pub league stuff. On Saturday mornings as a kid & then only ever wanted to play on Sundays from my mid teens onwards, because Saturdays were all about watching City. Since I've had my son & he's been of playing age, we have lived in North Somerset & it seems to be Saturday = football, Sunday = Rugby for his age groups around here. 0930 or 1030 kick off times mean we can always make City home games but no chance of away games - so this one being on a Sunday is good for me & anyone else with that schedule - was my point. I'm not questioning if there is kids Sunday football - there just doesn't seem to be around my way.
  10. I'm sure there are - I've just never heard of it. My kids football was always Saturday. My sons (Under 10) is Saturday morning & everyone I know who's kids play, all play Saturdays. Sunday has always been more of a Rugby day, where I live.
  11. Or all the kids that play on Saturdays & can't do away games can now go... I've never even heard of kids football on Sundays- thought that was just pub league stuff. Every kids team I know of play on Saturday mornings & this now means I can take my son without missing his game, so all good for me.
  12. I know it's away, but one one of Nige's few home wins was against them. They can't be that good..!
  13. This is true - but then most people would recognise Susan Boyle aswell..... !
  14. Have you tried just carrying it in your pocket..?
  15. I don't think this thread was aimed at you then.
  16. Especially when 30 years ago we'd regularly get home crowds around the 7,8,9k mark. Look at the whole structure of the club off the pitch & we are a million miles away from where we were - we just haven't found the golden formula on the pitch yet, which is frustrating, of course - but that can often overshadow all the other good stuff.
  17. There were exceptions, of course - it was the total lack of any consistency that was most frustrating - as demonstrated by the appalling stats for back to back wins (lack of) I think what you say highlights the point - we ARE capable of it, but never produced it often enough. I've no idea if that might improve with fresh ideas & leadership - it will be fascinating to see.
  18. We had scored 15 goals in 14 league games. That is pretty dire. Moreso was the lack of goal scoring chances. Our shot stats were often poor. Of the games you mention - Cardiff, yes - utterly decimated by injuries. Ipswich, we were unfortunate to lose. Coventry we were fortunate to win. Leeds I don't know much about, but was almost inevitable we'd lose. Rotherham we were dreadful & TC saved us with 2 outstanding finishes. Bar Plymouth, we hadn't really looked convincing all season. Millwall was decent enough, without really looking much of a threat. It was just all pretty turgid & we'd become satisfied with not getting battered due to sheer hard work. I've always agreed that the timing seemed odd, with the injuries as bad as they were - but I've no issue with the decision to replace him whatsoever. It's been drab generally. Only time will tell if he wasn't getting the best out players - I've always been of the opinion that we should be better than he had us - let's see how the season pans out & if there was any merit to that view. Then let's see what LM changes over the summer, when he's had a proper chance to look & assess what he's got here & what he things needs adding/changing. It will be the end of next season that a fair comparison can be drawn, imho.
  19. I don't think we did. Perhaps moreso away from home - but not generally. We often relied on something out of the ordinary from an individual, rather than looking like we had any real tactic. When we shored things up defensively (eventually) it was to the detriment of almost any attacking flair or purpose. I can only think that the game plan you refer too was hitting teams on the counter - which was fine when it worked - but our goals had dried up almost completely by the time he left & watching us was generally drab.
  20. Then why did we struggle to get more than a handful of back to back victories throughout his tenure..? Why was almost every positive performance followed up by the same old rubbish..? What was our home form so abysmal during his tenure.? Why were we utterly inconsistent over the 2.5 years that he was in charge - that doesn't come of having a settled game plan & shape that gets the best out of the players.
  21. We didn't have any consistent game plan or style under NP after 2.5 years - & you expect LM to have nailed everything over 2 weeks..?! I think some people are determined not to want to see positives..! We had more shots on target yesterday than the vast majority of games I can remember under NP & against a good team who are flying & beat Leicester, with a clean sheet, last time out. Of course it wasn't perfect - but I thought there were tangible signs of difference in what we did or tried to do - which was impressive after only 2 weeks.
  22. I was amazed when they took him off. He was causing us problems all 2nd half. Very tidy player with his feet, for a big lump of a man. He'd be a useful addition for us, no doubt.
  23. I've always thought that Rovers' kit was unique & famous..!
  24. Absolutely this. Not for the first time, you'd get totally the wrong impression of what it was like at the ground, by reading things on here. Read this forum & you'd expect the majority of the crowd to be dressed in black, mourning the passing of a legendary manager...... The reality is, in my limited mingling with others at the ground - that nobody has any issue with NP being replaced & believe that we've not progressed in 2.5 years (despite acknowledging he did a good job in other aspects) the football was generally dour & he didn't get the best, or any consistency out of the majority of the players or as a team. People seem genuinely refreshed by the change, if not a little unsure of whether it will push us forward. Early signs are encouraging & it was notable at the final whistle, how refreshing it was to have enjoyed a day at football again..!
