  1. You need to keep up mate - Joey tells everyone who will listen, every week, that they are the best team in League 1. Case closed. Don't be fooled by little factors like being 17th in the division distract you from the truth - that they are the best team in that division. Joey says so, so it must be true..!
  2. You said it yourself - in December we were 18th. Today we are 8th. What fanbase wouldn't have a variable in poll results about the manager between those to 2 situations..? In my mind, regardless of the limitations he was working within - we didn't look like we were progressing atall at that point. Fast forward to now & we look alot more balanced & have much more of a fame plan that we did , pretty much upto the Millwall away game at that time. Keeping in touching distance whilst having so many players out injured could well see us being capable of a serious top 6 challenge when they return & that is a whole different prospect to how things looked back in December last year, imho.
  3. I can't see what you are confused about.... Upto last December we were pretty abysmal & NP's stats were up (down) there with the worst of any manager we've ever had. Since then we have been much more competitive & are doing better in the league. I think you'd struggle to find a club in the country where the fanbase aren't more content with the manager of a team in the top half of the table that the manager of a team who are in relegation trouble.
  4. They used to get home crowds of less than 5k back then & bar the odd cup game, I can't really remember playing them much back in those days. The Salako game at Ashton Gate is the only game that springs to mind 88/89..? Then a couple of cup ties.
  5. Exactly - it was never friendly at the Vetch.!
  6. I suppose they were relatively small fry prior to their rapid rise up from the basement to reach the Prem, during which time the general size of the club & it's fanbase increased dramatically.
  7. You hadn't been to the Vetch then.? I vile place, with full on anti-English hatred running through their veins. Quite an intimidating place to visit, quite like Ninian Park, both in their own run down, shitehole kind of a way. Both now far friendlier in their shiny modern stadiums - to the point it always amazes me how friendly they both are to visit.
  8. More fool them for paying their substandard players £11k plus per week........ Or could it be that JB is an idiot & hadn't actually thought what his players earn & how much it would cost to refund their fans ticket money.?! The bloke is an utter bellend.! Probably the sort who comes across as passionate to those too brain dead to question anything that he says - but anyone with half a brain cell surely can't agree with half the tripe that he comes out with.
  9. Pretty sure, judging by their recent transfer activity, that the meccano set had been sitting unused in the loft at Ashton Gate for a while & when we decided we had no future use for it, Rovers snapped it up from the "free to collect" Facebook pages - much like a growing number of their recent players.
  10. Glyn (Jase) has always been a big fan of Pearson. Nothing wrong it saying his bizarre decisions cost us the game today, when they blatantly did.!
  11. JCH has played & scored in their last 3 matches. Will he continue today, or bottle it.? Tough call for the P'boro boss - you have to play your inform strikers & let's face it, every striker at every club across the land must really want to be playing Rovers.!
  12. The first season they both started getting game time, I was always more impressed by him than I was by Scott. Of course, he's faced horrendous injury setbacks since then & may never properly recover- but if he does, then he will be a fantastic addition to the squad.
  13. How is a 12 moth rolling contract an insult.? It's the most sensible type of contract & basically runs indefinitely - it just means that at any point, there is a year left on the contract.
  14. No. Sky TV is totally to blame for the glory hunter arm chair fan. Occasional fans are perfectly used to paying that sort of price, or more, for concerts & shows. They wouldn't be put off by the price - they are more likely to be put off by having to get off their arse & actually bother going to the ground, when there are so many games available at the touch of a button.
  15. It would be interesting to see how it compares to other clubs in the Prem. I'd expect Fulham to be one of the priciest, due to location & capacity being smaller than many. I'd think that most fans have season tickets in the Prem, otherwise it would be a struggle to get tickets - so capitalising on the occasional fan/day tripper is understandable. What is the "average punter" nowadays.? If games sell out at those prices, then you can blame the clubs for making as much revenue as possible. Of course, some will sadly be priced out - but it's naive to think the club will worry about that, if they are selling the same seat to someone who can afford it. The danger being, losing their hard-core base support (those who are priced out) should they drop back down the leagues & don't have the glory boy element splashing out on tickets regularly.
  16. They had been there in those times & yes, initially of course they did, & still do - but going to pretty much every game, with anything less than a resounding win by several goals, being seen as a disappointment - must be rather weird & must all start to feel a bit boring after a while. Of course, they are immensely entertained on a weekly basis - but that lack of competitive edge to matches, after a long period, must feel like something is missing from the competitive nature of the sport we love. It must almost be like going to the theatre every week, rather than going to watch a competitive sporting fixture. Of course we'd all love it - but after a decade of dominance it must all become a bit samey - with only the fear of dropping off the top (Man Utd) as a motivation & let's be honest, Man City have the wealth & infrastructure to make that unlikely anytime soon - although we all know that, however good or dominant a club is, in never lasts forever.
  17. What about being a Man City fan...? Anything but winning the title is a shock & failure. Only winning 2-0 today must have seemed dull & drab. Expecting to win, no matter who you are playing - you can only be left disappointed - bar the times it's an exceptional win, or a moment of world class quality goal - that stands out above all the other goals... Where actually is the fun in going only expecting to win & being diassapointed by anything other than a goal feast..? Where do you go from winning everything - is only the quadruple trophy hall their incentive now.? Disappointment & failure at failing to retain the champions league year after year - or just getting used to that to a point it's expected or seen as a season of failure..?! I was chatting to an old school Man City fan on Holiday - he has his season tickets - but only bothers going to about half the games because it feels like a bit of a foregone conclusion... Can it really be fun, really..?!
  18. Condensed version - Likes to get passed up & go to Canal Street ?
  19. Police are instructed not to get involved inside the stadium & are there as back up for the stewards. Police involvement is a last resort, when instructed.
  20. Exactly - nothing to do with what fans are in what stands.
  21. West Brom fans have hardly made a sound, despite big numbers in the Atyeo..... Are the acoustics in that stand rubbish...... or is it because they aren't making any noise..?!
  22. Ah yes - look at the unlimited success & glory days of those years where we had the Atyeo as the home end...! Now maybe this is a bit of an out of the box suggestion... but maybe people could just sing wherever they currently sit..?!
  23. I love how they make it seem like a massive incident, in a huge game.... Not big enough for anyone to actually attend.!
