The concourses, sports bar, and outside facilities are up there with the best imo.

There are some that look better, more complete, but the location and facilities may not compare to Ashton Gate.

I think that’s fair.  I guess we don’t see home concourses but from what I have seen around the country we are right up there.   And, contrary to a lot of people on here, I will always be grateful we stayed at AG.

Yep. Remember, the negotiations went on for quite a while in the summer and this was amid interest (confirmed interest) from Prem clubs.
So if we wanted to keep him we had to pay him.

Yep certainly makes sense - just surprised the uplift was that much - was expecting £13-15k.  Fair play to him though and completely agree if we want to keep these lads who are performing we need to pay.  Happier for us to reward continuous improvement of our own rather than take punts on more unknown quantities which would no doubt also come with a hefty fee as well.

Twine would not be on more than Weimann.
Biggest earner James will be off in a couple of months.
Big earner Weimann will be off the wage bill this week.
Next biggest earners are Vyner & Naismith (£18k and £15k).
Twine would likely be coming in around that level.
So there won’t be wage disparity - any more than there already is with James.

Vyner is on £18k.  Wow. Fair play to his agent.

How are people getting upset at spending 2.5 million on a player that had 20 goals/13 assists in League One was 4 mill a year ago and getting a move to the Prem. Has put up good stats in the Championship so far. I know with the benefit of hindsight we could of bought him cheaper but that applies to us and 40 other teams thar also missed the trick for a freebie. He's filling an obvious void of creativity that we've missed.

Seems like good business if it comes off.

    Who’s upset at spending £2.5m?

I'll be delighted if we signed him, as in I will be delighted to see us play for us.

I am however concerned about the financials.

It's possible to hold both those views which I think some are struggling to understand.

A few are struggling to comprehend or have very very short memories of the shit show we were in only recently and the pain it took to get out of it.   Or both.

Who said scott twine will take us to the prem this season I certainly never... we need 3 or 4 twine level of signings and even then we're looking at next season at best so manning has a full pre season with HIS players and I'd be delighted if twine was 1 of those players

    Guess that’s a no then……

Some of you moan when we don't make signings, then moan when we do 😂

Who has moaned about not signing anyone who is now questioning Twines fee?

Twine played behind the striker is a very talented player he scored 20 goals and got 13 assits from midfield the level below no one puts those numbers up at his age unless they have something about them.

Again, if you think Scott Twine will take us to the Prem this season, I’ll happily take the name of your provider / preferred drink.   How’s about this though….. If he does I’ll give £500 to charity. If he doesn’t you give £50? Fancy it?

When will you be fuming though? Let’s just say we spent £5m on him and we announced it on Wednesday. Would you be fuming then or would you wait until it’s mathematically not possible that we couldn’t reach the Premier League for you to be fuming? Because if we paid £5m, and he was the missing piece we needed, and we got to the Prem, you’d look a bit silly to be fuming about someone spending money that isn’t even yours on a player that got us to the Premier League.

Being fuming is a bit of a minefield isn’t it.

If you seriously think that Scott Twine is going to deliver us to the Prem I’ll have some of what you’re having.

I don't think there are many people calling for us to spend 5 million on one player in January.

Correct.   I’ll be fuming if we spend anywhere near that on him.  All the hard work done to get us back on an even keel will have been wasted, all to try and save face.  Really hope it’s not true.

Bournemouth cheated. Try telling it to Reading, Wigan, Derby......

Lots of ways of defining 'progress': fact is that 8 seasons in the Championship is progress. Maybe not as much as we'd all have liked, but it's better than the 30 years before that!

Is that the teams that have been in the Prem, Europe, winning FA Cups, FA Cup semis etc?  Yeah.  I’ll take that tbh.

A cup run could save my and our season, but anything outside the top ten and it will all feel even more pointless (pun intended)

Agree here 100%. Our performance last week has put a good bit of credit in the bank for me but we really need to start performing better in the league. It’s awful to watch  a lot of the time atm.   10th was absolute minimum for me this season with Nige.  Arguably it should be higher for Manning given what our dip shit hierarchy have said, but forgetting that, as they are completely and utterly ******* clueless, 10th remains the absolute minimum for Manning also.

Sell majority of shares to a new investor, but remain on the board.

New investor to appoint all staff especially those in charge of football matters (DoF, Coaches, Recruitment, Medical etc..)

The Lansdowns deserve our thanks  and I would like them to stay (if they so wish) for all the good things they have done for us.

However; new people required to make the big decisions in getting this club moving forwards and upwards.

Their egos will never, ever allow it.

No such thing as a ‘mid table team’. There are average teams with the potential to challenge and average teams who are vulnerable to the drop. We’ve had almost zero investment for a couple of years now- certainly when compared to sales. I was expecting SL to back Manning well this window and in the summer, as he’s 100% their appointment when there was no real fan agitation for a change. If decent incomings don’t arrive soonish, we could rapidly find ourselves in a relegation scrap. I’ve always assumed that the Lansdowns’s wouldn’t let that happen and would spend ( even recklessly) to avoid it. But I think they’ve checked out, emotionally as well as financially, so it might be worth appreciating what we’ve got while we’ve still got it.

No offence to you but appreciating what though?  It’ll always be our team and that’s what I appreciate, the friendships, the camaraderie, the experience. Our club, not their play thing.   Like 99.9% of us I’d follow us on the Downs if it came to it,  but I’m sick of ‘appreciating’ what ‘they’ do. Their lack of any football sensibilities has wasted a huge opportunity, all for some vanity kick on there behalf.
Their tenure has coincided with my best years and what could’ve been with just a tiny bit more footballing nouse, or just a tiny bit of relinquishing of control to people that know wtf they are doing, really really pisses me off.  Sorry for the rant 😂

It's quite amazing to think someone could be in the football business for so long and know and have learned so little about it. Beggars belief really.

    Amazing and depressing!
