  1. More than likely he did. I agree re priorities, as no one really cares about this cup until the very late stages. But it also goes to show that we aren’t good enough to take any team, regardless of what league they play in, lightly.
  2. Lincoln will be absolutely fuming about going out of the cup at Chippenham, they will have been given an absolute roasting over the last 2-3 days by their coaching staff. So if there was ever a time to put out a weak side, tonight clearly wasn’t it.
  3. I for one would love to get them in the cup, I miss the derbies.
  4. Exactly.. but you aren’t allowed to tell it as it is mate!!. OTIB rules, always blame the officials when City don’t win. Its tedious.
  5. For me human error is part of football. Officials make mistakes yes, but the players make a whole lot more!. I don’t want the ‘perfect’ game, I want football as it always has been, unpredictable. I hate the way the game is going,it’s not a tv programme, it’s a sport where anything can happen. Plymouth v Exeter on Monday night was the sort of game I want to watch, none of this VAR rubbish. Just give me good honest football without the cheating and diving….. please. He stops his watch when he feels he has to, it’s really that simple Dave. Or one of his watches I should say.
  6. The fourth official doesn’t tally it up, the referee tells him what it is.
  7. The thing is, this was a common coming together, it happens all over the pitch at different stages in every game. These are accepted as ‘part of the game’ nowadays.
  8. Sharpe was offside no doubt, the Lino should have seen that. The tackle/foul on Williams should have been a red, no doubt about it, if the referee had seen it ( which he clearly couldn’t of, because every referee would have given a red card in that instance). Tanner’s was 100% a red, no argument there, his opponent has quick feet and was just too quick for Tanner this time. The other one bought up is Wells and a penalty, absolutely no chance. Just good defending, Wells let himself get bullied by a stronger player.
  9. He seems to think he is Jack Grealish , and expects a free kick whenever he falls over!.
  10. At the same time… we would have to have someone very good at heading the ball!. All I’ve seen is ( except once) aimless and hopeful balls pumped into the box.
  11. Too many aimless crosses into the box. Crossing for crossing’s sake. Not even from areas where the cross is likely to be dangerous. We need some guile, one two’s etc, get to the by-line. We are very predictable imo.
  12. Exeter have about 4/5 players who have been with them since their early youth days. Great to see these lads now playing at this level. Archie Collins the goal scorer for Exeter is a Bridgwater lad. You wouldn’t meet a nicer down to earth lad.
  13. He’s only on loan, Fulham have him.
  14. In response to your last paragraph. Nor did any instances happen at that end in Sheffield Wednesdays 20 plus home games. The lay out and directional signs at the other end were the problem. As illustrated in 82 and 87. But they weren’t scousers, so I guess that didn’t matter ?
  15. So the fact the same thing happened at the same stadium, in games between Spurs and Wolves in 81, Sheff Wed v Coventry AND Coventry v Leeds in 87 ( except for deaths). Still gives you thoughts that it couldn’t have happened to any other club than Liverpool? Why didn’t the same thing happen when the two teams ( Liverpool and Forrest ) met at the same ground in the semi final the previous season?.
  16. Very much the same happened in 1981 at the Spurs v Wolves semi, 1987, Sheff wed v Coventry in the cup quarter final, and Coventry v Leeds semi final. All three games had serious injuries, but thankfully no deaths. All because of the lay out of the ground. But you want to blame Liverpool fans?. This is from the official enquiry People entering were unaware of the problems at the fence; police or stewards usually stood at the entrance to the tunnel and, when the central pens reached capacity, directed fans to the side pens, but on this occasion, for reasons not fully explained, they did not.[43]
  17. Crikey mate, it kicked off for a good 10 minutes halfway through the first half. Everything was happening, the terrace floor was made of cinders/gravel/stones, most of it ended up in a different place, as it was being thrown by both mobs. pool balls were flying around everywhere, and hand to hand fighting was rife. Millwall were in the ground the whole 90 minutes, some City that used the toilets got beat up badly, and one ( at least ) got cut up badly with a knife. The trouble continued after the game. Did you actually go!.
  18. You clearly don’t understand what actually happened. You clearly don’t understand that the outside “pens” were nowhere near full. But the supporters were directed to the central pen that was 100% full. The ground didn’t even have a safety certificate ffs.
  19. I thought cup finals were played at Wembley?
  20. Spot on. Not just refereeing a game, I think all players ( and spectators!!!) should be forced to learn the laws of the game!. I find it incredible that thousand/millions who watch football don’t actually know the laws of the game they pay to watch. I can remember a City game 5-6 years ago where an opposition player kneed/thighed the ball back to his keeper and the Ashton Gate crowd screamed for a back pass free kick. It was hilarious watching thousands of blokes losing their shit…. none of them knew the back pass law!!.
  21. This seems to have become a common occurrence around the country. Referee associations are pulling their referees out in some youth leagues on some weekends, due to the ever increasing violence against them. Sad times.
  22. Clubs like Sherborne, Bridport, and Portland are out on a limb. Bridport we’re always in the Western League, ( the Premier last season) now playing in the south west peninsula league. Portland in the Wessex league, and obviously Sherborne in the Western league. All three clubs lose out on geography position. There just aren’t enough clubs close to them at the level they want to play. I guess Sherborne could go into the Wessex league, but their travelling distance would be far worse than now. There is a very good Western League weekly podcast, and they actually talked about Sherborne’s trip to Mousehole, saying that Sherborne treated it as a ‘special’ trip, and enjoyed everything about the day. Next season will be interesting, and journey times will be massively cut.
