    Bye then.

    Truth hurts mate

The hierarchy at this club have done a fantastic job at turning us into an absolute nothing club at this level . The football is dire, the atmosphere is dire - as is the whole match day experience these days at Ashton Gate. The fans have had the life sucked out of them - they don’t even have the passion anymore to give the board the stick they richly deserve

As for this club and how it’s ran. Pretty much every person at this club who is in a high ranking position - is out of their depth. The Owner, chairman, CEO, whatever role Tinnion now has, the manager…all of them - completely clueless

Roll on the day they sell up and **** off

I have never been so angry!

we are Bristol City giving up sickners is what we do. But that took it to a new level

It’s going to take me days to calm down after that.

I can’t even listen to radio drivel as I might smash my radio.

The club is rotten through to the core

I personally couldn’t give to shits anymore. Haven't for a long time

Lansdowns getting exactly what they deserve

I think with Cornick you have to look beyond the aesthetics of his running style and look what he actually does.  Just because he looks a bit ungainly, doesn’t mean he isn’t / cannot be effective.

Really interested to see what he actually does other then “just put it about a bit and make a nuisance of himself”

He is terrible for this level and I honestly can’t believe we gave him a 3.5 year contract

I went along to the match tonight with my father in his 70’s , my dad has mobility issues and our allocated seats were far to high up for dad , we approached the stewards who were amazing and was given a special area for special requirements down by the Southampton fans left hand comer flag , half way through the match we had three city fans  who just walked in the little area and were constantly abusing Southampton fans also  a lady behind who was ever worse I have never heard such vile abuse from a city fan in 35 years it got that bad my father turned around and told them to shut up they almost started on my  father , these fans were scum

    I to was embarrassed

but simply because other teams get to see we have players like Harry Cornick playing for us

Made quite a difference when he can on today providing another option to worry the defence other than the shorter Bell and Conway. His height certainly bothered the Boro defenders more who struggled to stifle him quite a few times.

I wonder if he did enough to earn a start at Soton of Wednesday?

it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if he did start.

Works his socks off and gives us something different for sure - but - is still not the answer to what we need

Are you trying to say that today was no different to most weeks?

Yes mate I am. The atmosphere at the Gate is absolutely flat

The south stand - which I believe sold out to season tickets? - is half empty most weeks

The atmosphere is a product of what has been on show for so long. The football the last 5-6 years has been terrible

It's a strange phase for the club. Normally win, lose, or draw there would be multiple threads about who was MOM, who was to blame, what tactics we got wrong etc. But right now it's just a little flat. I think that was reflected in the atmosphere for long periods of the game today, even when winning.

I think it's a general feeling of sourness at how NP left. Fans who didn't want that are not wanting to be too enthusiastic about a really good win. Fans who wanted the change are not wanting to be shouted down.

Ultimately we should be singing the praises, Dickie was fantastic again, and apart from a crazy 10/15 in the second half, we are defensively really strong. That's something NP gave us. I love that 1st half we controlled possession and took our chances. I love that second half we did what so many clubs do to us - challenged Boro to break us down! And we stood strong and looked dangerous on the break. I also love that conceding corners is no longer a huge stress, we are so solid at defending set pieces.

There are good signs of some of LM's influence and more importantly signs that we can build on what NP put in place.

I think you’re over thinking this feeling of ‘sourness’. Apart from a few acting like heart broke teenagers on here - people are moving on

I just think the football has been shit for so long - and so has the atmosphere. Let’s be completely honest, the atmosphere at Ashton Gate 95% of the time is absolutely dire . Completely flat - and a lot of that is driven by the dull football that’s been dished up consistently for the last 5-6 years

He can say all the right things as much as he wants. There are only two things that will matter, performances and results.

Clearly not as people are still having a melt down over the dismissal of ‘Nige’

Both the performances and results were poor yet people go on like he was one of the best managers we’ve ever had

We hadn’t had back to back wins in over 30 games 😅

    Firstly, ta.

Secondly, interesting view, because he’s been chosen to be able to do exactly what you worry he won’t be able to do.  Not that it matters, because that’s your view…Tins and JL are the ones who are confident.

I can understand people who are concerned he won’t be a success - but there are people who have already decided he won’t be

People have come to this decision because they are blinkered by their views of JL and the way Pearson has been treated

Draw a line under the plebs above - and let’s get behind the new bloke

…..and if we are not top by Boxing Day. We can call for him to be sacked

Out of interest Andy, where do you reckon Nige would’ve had us finish?

And where do you think Manning will?

I don’t think Nige would have taken us any higher than the sort of position we finished last season. Maybe between 12th - 16th perhaps

I just didn’t see any real season on season improvement. I think Nige had done as much as he could

He did a great job in the circumstances. He instilled discipline and bought the club back together - but I genuinely don’t think he could take us up a notch and turn us into a top 6 team . We have average players who are crying out for a coach who can help them develop and improve. I think Nige had taken this squad as far as he could

As for Manning - genuinely no idea. It would be a pure finger in the air guess as I don't know enough about the guy and his style to form an opinion on how our squad will adapt and hopefully develop

If I had to take a wild guess - I would say bottom half. Maybe 12th to 16th but that’s because I think our players will struggle to adapt to his methods

Not for me, no. I haven't seen any kind of material improvement in terms of overall performances this season versus last. We look better defensively, but worse going forward. Two goals scored in five games now; both from a central defender.

Nige was doing a decent job in tricky circumstances, let's not rewrite history and try and claim he was on the verge of some grand run of form that would have fired us into a promotion challenge.

It was the right time for a change. As you say - he has done a decent job but change doesn’t always have to be once things go so far south you find yourself with a new manager having to rebuild

I can remember a few years back - and excuse me if my memory is not to good - but Southampton getting rid of Nigel Adkins and appointing Poch at a time when they were doing relatively well. There was uproar at the time as Adkins was very well liked - but Poch developed Saints quite a lot and took the club forward

Now I’m not saying Manning is like Pochettino - I’m simply saying now was the time to try something different to try and take us up a notch

As you have said - I seen nothing in the performances so far to indicate we would have kicked on under Pearson this year

There was very little that could be taken from our past half a dozen games, or indeed from much of the season as a whole, to justify such optimism that we would have "100%" beaten QPR.

For starters, we haven't won back-to-back games in 32 attempts - all under Nige, in case you'd forgotten. But you are "100%" sure that after struggling to beat 10 man bottom-of-the-table Sheff Wed, we'd have comfortably secured another win?

I mean it's just nonsense. Same as your comment earlier in the thread that Nige would have had us "challenging for the play-offs". Again, there was no evidence in performances so far this season that that was going to happen. Yes, the division is quite tight at the moment so it looks like we're within touching distance of them, but I haven't come across a single City fan who thinks we're a top 6 side based on performances so far this season. Not one. We're miles off it.

I wish I could like this post a thousand times.

Totally agree. He doesn't look anything remotely like the bloke for us

And people give me stick on here for over reacting at times

Honestly. Some people are acting like heart broken teenagers because ‘Nige’ isn’t here anymore

Exactly. We would be a comfortable mid table side. Now I fear we could be an uncomfortable mid table side with our eyes looking over our shoulder.

Hope I am wrong. But said it before this has set us back 12 - 18 months

You’ve based this opinion on what exactly?

  15. 13 minutes ago, W-S-M Seagull said:

So if he's far better than the players he's coaching then he has the ability to make them better?

With Nige we were capable of challenging for the top 6 this season. We would have won today and been 2 points off the play offs.

Ripping up everything and starting again with heavy investment is going back to the LJ days.

No chance we would have been challenging top 6
