Doesn’t feel like a signing for the u21. I think he’ll be part of the first team pretty quickly

Big, big step up for the lad . Not so sure he is going to feature that much in the short term

We are very fortunate to land this lad, going to be a very exciting prospect for us as long as he steers clear of injuries

Can’t wait for them to announce tomorrow his head has fallen off in training and he is out for the season. Standard City

Yeah there was a running joke on here that it was either him or Tommy given how news of his injury broke on here 😅😅😅

To be fair ….bcfcshags wasn’t a bad player, but played in a different position to Alex Scott 😉

Always remember he got sent off against the team I played for

As per the above, I have been thoroughly disappointed with Tommy this season. I don’t think the lone role suits him at all, offers very little threat and struggles up against physical CB. With just 18 months to go I would be tempted to sell this month, I don’t think we will get more than £5M to be honest, but we need a better all round striker to progress. A shame as I really hoped this would be his season but lacks that quality required.

Absolutely we should cash in. At a time when we have virtually no striking options - let’s cash in on the best one we have

    or ….….….…

….our head coach could actually start building his team around his better players and playing to their strengths.

Why Lee Johnson pt2 keeps playing his as a lone striker is beyond me.

I’m not convinced Manning will take the deal on.

Same. I think he has done ok - but not quite sure he has done enough to earn the plaudits he is getting . Personally - I’d wait to the end of the season and make a decision then. I don’t think we will take the lad on permanently if I’m honest

Manning has been winning me round in recent weeks, which is natural given the results. Still find the football a bit boring, but everyone will have their own opinion.

So this isn’t a dig at him, but can you name a worse city game than what we witnessed today? Everything from performance to atmosphere and even the weather was just completely not there today. It has to be the one of, if it the worse, days at football for a long long time.

It’s not even the worst this season

    Birmingham at home was awful

That was bad today - but we have had many games like that over the last few years

Today was dire, absolutely dire and a prime example of how this modern trend of Play Station football will be the death of the game we love.

It is well known that The Etihad is a library and that is because nothing exciting happens there anymore

Clubs that try and emulate this beware. Today, 21,000 people were bored rigid watching players endlessly recycling the ball in an attempt to emulate this turgid shite

It was probably the worst atmosphere I think I have ever experienced in 50 years of watching football at The Gate, there was literally nothing to get excited about

At least the "dinosaur" football that I used to watch was exciting. Wingers taking on their full backs, through balls, crosses, shots, stuff that used to get you out of your seat, ALL GONE thanks to this modern brand of football which is dull as dishwater

We've been sold the Emperor's new clothes, there is no substance to it, PlayStation is NOT REAL. When are people going to open their eyes to this game killer....

When was the last time we had exciting football at the Gate? We had a brief few months in 2017 but apart from that - it’s been shit since we returned to this division

We have a mid table squad. Why does everyone keep thinking we're likely to get top 6?

We have an industrious set of players (with the odd exception). We lack top 6 quality. Max probably not good enough. Tanner, good defender but SO negative. Mehmeti, league one show pony. James and Wells probably showing their age. Bell, lightweight. Cornick, squad player.

But I'm not moaning cos I know that is our squad and so mid table is about right. To do a Brentford or Luton needs all the planets to align. Other than that, Steve would need to spend money and we all know that won't happen.

So I'm keeping realistic expectations for the average squad we have. But some entertainment wouldn't go a miss. Struggling to recall two worse back to back games than that.

Shame, cos I'd like to see what Manning could do if backed with some cash.

I think it’s just frustration more than anything. Frustration that we are on course for another meaningless season where we just ‘exist’ in this league. Supporting City really is boring as ****

A couple of good wins gets people excited because let’s face it, we haven’t had anything remotely exciting happen since 2017. But reality very quickly slaps people back in the face with performances like today

I’ve said it before - we are a nothing club in this league . Simply there making up numbers

There were loads on here saying we should beat Birmingham (1 win in 7, Rooney struggling) it doesn’t work like that.

This is our 4th game in 8 days with basically the same 14 or 15 players, so simplistic stuff like “let’s get into them” is  pointless.

I expect a real slog today & if we win it will be a tight one.

After today we don’t play a league game for 12 days so assuming no replay v West Ham, can hopefully use the time to get at least one in & give a few a bit of recuperation.

Spot on. I think today will be a real slog and if we can manage to scrape a win, it sets us up nicely

Personally can see a score draw

Is it just me or does tomorrow feel huge? I have a habit of feeling like this about every game we play but tomorrow just feels massive to me.

No Championship football for two weeks after New Year’s Day, as it’s FA Cup next weekend and our trip to WHU. We could spend those two weeks just outside the play-off places, potentially even in them.  A two weeks when we can bring in reinforcements and see some big players back from injury. We beat Millwall tomorrow and we’ll be well placed for a full blooded assault on the PO’s in the second half of the season and the fanbase will be really believing.

So let’s get right into them. They have a few injuries and suspensions and apparently they’re only bringing 600, let’s drown them out completely and start 2024 as we mean to go on. COYFR 🔴⚪🔴⚪

I was saying the same last night. This is exactly the type of game we struggle in though. I’d say this is the first game in the last 5 (including this one) - that we should be expecting the win. We rarely turn up in these sort of games

Can honestly see this being a score draw today

Certainly presenting us with a dilemma.

Expect as he’s the only player left not to leave or renew his contract since prior to the pandemic he’s at the very top of our remaining earners now.

After a horrendous first season & not great second one in terms of his availability he managed 33/46 games last season & has done 20/25 this.

His recent form has been excellent & earlier in the season (outstanding at Swansea) he’s played very well too.

Not a clear cut decision either way, at 27 he’s at his peak but I doubt we are interested in offering him even his current wages & that is if we decide to offer anything at all.

Certainly expect either him or James to depart next summer, alongside King, but it could conceivably be all 3.

I just can’t believe the lad is 27. Only just turned 27 to

I thought he was 4-5 years older!

You mean he is playing like Mehmeti, he has not changed at all. Just had more game time. Same errors and decision-making, always cutting inside onto his right.. He was doing the same at Watford, but it was masked by scoring a goal. A lot of work still to be done with him.

Personally think he looks a bit tired. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him subbed early in the second half

A Birmingham supporting mate is there and messaged me and said there are already arguments among the home fans and someone has stormed out, are they really that bad?! We have 73% possession according  to the BBC!

No - we are edging it but by no means are we much better then them so far

At the minute very much the story of our season so far (apart from Watford) - some nice possession but lack of quality in the final third
